A boy's voice is similar in range to a girl's voice when they are children, though a trained boy often can sing higher and hold a note longer than a trained girl. One thing that gets in the way of boys singing this way in our society is the fear of "sounding like a girl" - i.e., singing, particularly high, isn't "macho."

For me its not only Terry Wey's voice, but also his diction: I can actually understand what he sings. And that is still the case with much later performances than this one (which happens to be still one of my favourites!). Just compare him with anyone else!
