I agree with you. Sonu nigam can copy the same style as mohd rafi, but when he sings his own bollywood songs, they don't seem to be very touching, as Mohd rafi songs.

To put it succinctly, when sonu sings Rafi , his voice smacks of honey, and when he sings his own songs it smacks of sugar

A very good singing by sonu, but one thing i can,t understand is that when sonu sings his own songs of Bollywood movies i dont see exactly the same spontaneous sweetness and mellowness as found when he sings Rafi sahib,s songs.

Sonu nigham in his own songs is felt more of some phony synthetic styles as if singing for effects and also sometimes in live performances he fails miserably.

I have always beleived Sonu's best at doing Rafi Ji...I heard him first in the 90's and thought so...god bless him...still have that CD....however, his Dad is even better at it!! ...thats where he gets it...I think I told him that when we met in our city, a fine young man...miss seeing his Dad in the new concerts....he is the original Rafiji's double/stand in....anyways an "awesome" tribute.....
