Been looking for Kelly the drummer for years!!!! They are from Seattle and opened for Nugent's North American tour ending it in Chehalis Washington of all places!!!!!! Great song by a bunch of great guys!!!!!
Yea I remember this band...one of those "one hit wonders" that had a solid sound but did not capitolize on it. Good twin axe attack and heavy bass tone with good carrying vocals. What became of these guys? Anyone...? So many good bands that were not followed through with, look at the stuff we have to deal with today...geez!
Terry used to drive a brown Camaro which he sold to the neighbor kid before moving out from his house in Bellevue. That ungreatful kid ending up selling the car five years later and probably will kick my ass for telling. Anyway, Dan would have said, 'Hi' if he knew Rail was on YouTube.
What i can`t believe is when I was in 8th grade (back in `84) me and 3 other buddies used this band and song as our jam at our jr. high air band contest. And needless to say we kicked every bodies asses that participated using other (pop tunes) from back in the day. Somehow when we started playing the volume was cranked up!!
@mrjoox2 What contest? Friday night, MTV Battle of the Bands? LOL! I remember Quite Riot "Come on feel the noize" held for 3 weeks, )I even called/voted on the 1-900 #), anyway Genesis "That's all" beat them, who were in turn beat by Journey "Send her my love". God I really love/miss the 80's.
@gjc82071 I think it was called the "Friday Night Video Fights" wasn't it? Back then MTV was fun, not like the crap that they show now. You can keep "Teen Mom" and "I used to Be Fat" Bring back "IRS"s The Cutting Edge" "The Young Ones" and the "Headbangers Ball" Damn, I'm old. LOL
@Sparty2100 These guys were the winners of the first ever "MTV Basement Tapes" contest. They got a record deal out of it... and sadly, apparently wasted some of the money on furry boots.
@Sparty2100 Rail was one of the winners from MTV Basement Tapes contests, I remember when they won, I still have the vinyl of this release. long time ago... \m/ \m/
My friends went. Yeah like it was said before these guys should have been huge. They were technically better than a lot of bands that did break through around this time.
Great Live band.
My friend Jeff Northrup played guitar with them and Ronnie Montrose also did some shows briefly as a guitarist .
Does anyone know who the lead guitarist on the left is? He kinda looks like, either Bruce Kulick(KISS) or maybe Vivian Cambell(DIO,WHITESNAKE) let me know
I saw these guys in the mid 80's in Medford, OR. Great show, but the drummer broke a stick and through it out into the crowd and the guy 4-5 people away from me caught it---IN THE EYE LOL!!!!
i saw this on mtv back in 84 and bought the ep the same week. I thought it was great but never heard from the band again...all I ever saw in my store was a EP. no follow up videos ever either.
I have the promotional copy of the e.p.!!! This song really is pretty damn good. The singer looks like a younger version of the guy from Hericane Alice(remember them?)
I had this very weird and random thought the other day of, "Remember that band from 1984 called Rail?" So I decided to look them up on You Tube. I didn't realize just how hair metal they were when I was a twelve year old. MTV promoted the Hell out of that video when they started showing it, and now it is just a one post You Tube video with ten comments. At least Rail lives on in some of our memories.
What's interesting is that it's a hair band with a singer who plays an instrument. Hairbands, usually, are interested in making sure their singer can grab his crotch and sashay around the stage like a chick, so it's kind of cool that this band doesn't do that. And... the guitar faces are fucking classic. I spotted the "Someone's blowing me", the "God damn it, I'm playing guitar", and the "Yes I'm happy as fuck, but I'm trying to mask it as an evil grin". Only Glenn Tipton does it better.

@MrHaightred His name is Andy Baldwin; the band Rail came from Bellevue, Wa.
Drummer is Kelly Nobles (and is truly excellent); bass guitar & lead singer is Terry James Young, while rhythm guitar was Rick Knotts.
THey needed a DIFFERENT producer/record company: they could/should have been HUGE!
