I took lots of pictures of my thumb over one of the lenses.
Also the lenses are set at human eye separation. This is good for objects in the 5 to 30 foot range. closer objects will have too much disparity. Further objects will of course not show much, if any 3D, just like your eyes and you get depth from cues other than stereo disparity.

you need to add
yt3d:swap=1
otherwise the video will be displayed pseudo stereoscopic
