For all of the viewers watching this, remember to do these exercises without shoes. Doing plyometric training with shoes/trainers creates a dependency by trading away good body form for cheap traction from the rubber soles.
man id love to work out at this place...I love agility drills and creative exercises like this they help me feel more confident and comfortable in my skin..
They teach you quick precise footwork. They strengthen your legs and they are a great cardio workout which will help with endurance! You can't go wrong doing these!
I often do such drills at the end of the warmup. Is it the right place or should i move them elsewhere in training? Or maybe just focus a whole training on plyos?
Plyos should be done early in the workout when the legs are still "fresh", so at the end of warmup is just fine. Doing a whole plyo work out regulary is also a good thing.
I think it's a personal decision, I think barefooted is better, but some times the floor is slippery and I would take shoes. However if with shoes then only light, with a very thin sole, like tkd/wrestling/boxing shoes, jogging shoes are a no go.
Is it a serious question? Better physical preparation|-->success in competition. Plyometrics improve speed, speed endurance and intramuscular coordination. It's very viable for tkd.
well. "physical preperation" mean the following. speed, power, endurance, and tecknique. under which does plyometrics fall into?? to be honest it does not help that much only very little bit.
Technique is not physical preparation, it's technical preparation. Phisical components are: force, speed, endurance and combinations of these. Plyos improve speed, speed endurance, force endurance. And they do not help a little bit they help enormously when done correctly. An improvement of 5-10% is huge.
well i think technique is part of muscle memory, which is physical. but anyways i see your point but i mean.. i think that the best way of getting better at taekwondo is to keep doing taekwondo.. in other words is there a way of plyometrics that you can do while kicking?? so you can work on kicks as well. i fyou know what i mean.
conditioning improves anything period!! your kicks will be faster, stronger, more explosive and you'll reduce the risks of injuries, search for more plyometrics try them and you'll be very tired but eventually you'll get great conditioning and strenght
also I've frequently seen that traditional martial artists (TKD, Karate, etc.) sometimes neglect strength and conditioning training and get injured very easily I've seen poor conditioned TKD guys get lots of injuries in their legs, back, etc and quitting the sport because of that, conditioning should be an important part of training period, technique alone wont be enough
just take the guy's word for it, if you can't comprehend the benefits then just test it and discover for yourself. you will either be satisfied or not, but give an honest effort, like adding it to your program for a month or so. if you can't tell by the video, the guy is very good, and obviously he uses plyos
Plyometrics is not only hard on the cardiovascular system but it helps one generate explosive strength. Explosive strength is the top ingredient for rate of force development, a key to producing fast and hard blows!
Your videos inspire, respect! great skills, great body workout..keep on!
