  • @miraclepoop11 oh fuck off you asshole. at least look up the word 'nigger' before you use it. You've just embarrassed yourself for 1. being a racist cunt and 2. for trying and failing to be racist.

  • damn, thats a LOT of shaking!!!!!!!

  • kobe japan I guess no more 50 dollar hamburgers for us.

  • @sandspoint did you see how bad that earthquake was?! All you think about is stupid hamburgers!!??

  • @miraclepoop11 you are sick

  • @miraclepoop11

    u are fucking sick

  • @richardfastlove I'm American and I've been to Japan many times for business. Iv'e made many friends and love the Country . Everyone always treated me with respect. I almost got caught in the Kobe earthquake and worked with Japanese friends in the US that had family there. It's one thing to lose your house but when you lose your family and your Town instantly there is an emptiness no one can describe. No matter who we are we all live in this world and what the same things. Have some compassion!

  • 6.500 deads from the earthquake...140.000 buildings fall...

keep going Japan... The Greeks are with you...

  • wish all the best jaban I'm sorry about dah I don't know wha 2 say

  • wish all the best jaban

  • Ahhhh, that's a pussy quake.

  • @elevatorman247 no its 1995

  • what the fuck? that person in the bottom right corner might be the creepiest shit ive seen in a week

  • jan 25 1995

  • no way

  • WoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooW wtf ?

  • @elevatorman247 No it was 1995! Not 1994! I suggest you to swallow up your egoism.

  • this day is my birthday! (-_-)

  • An adventure of 1996.

  • There was a blackout at all the buildings!

  • @BreezyBrisbane what are you an idiot?!

  • wow what a earthquake! I live in Costa Rica we had a 7.3 years ago was really scared.

  • 画面下部に男性が寝ているけど

    もう少しで倒れてきた棚が直撃だったな

    あぶね~

  • 半端じゃねえ

    静岡ならまだしも、神戸の建造物で良く耐えられたな

    次は東海か

  • The first powerful swing is when the plates slipped several metres, it was a brutal push, jolt great the building withstood this, you can see a big strong reinforced concrete column and that is what saved this poor man in bed.

Look what happened to Haiti :((((

    Terrible

  • i think its a 7.6 on the ricter scale anyway how did you get the vid

  • no it was 6.9 on moment magnitude but the earthquake's wave looked so terrified because the city of Kobe sat on the fault where it raptured, also the city of Kobe sat on the type of soil that will amplify the earthquake. Just much like downtown of San Fransisco back in 1989 and there was collapsed building and the epicenter was only 60 miles away because they sat on the type of soil.

  • @mrtokitime RIght. Much of Kobe had been built on land reclaimed from the sea therefore on softer soil which carried the soil for more than 5 times longer than on the mainland.

  • interrupted their sex. shitty timing

  • the 7.2 earthquake struck so fast, the gound movement was as strong as a 9 quake

  • your kind of wrong, s waves cant go through water, oh and depending on soil type it could vary. You could be miles from the epicenter but your place gets rocked harder then most places if you live on a loose sediment ground

  • Shit! What a huge earthquake!

  • 夜勤の人だよ。そんなこともわからないのかなぁ。

  • Cool, never seen an earthquake like that!!!

  • pffff secutity is sleeping XD

  • You want more footage~longer video you type kobemegaquake

  • quedo la mea caga ... tengo miedo!

  • I'd say in a quake this violent on the surface, if you can't get the fuck outside and away from the possible fall zone of any buildings.. shield yourself under a desk and stay there!

  • Comment removed

  • if you want to survive that earthquake young man, hide under your desk!

  • it was 7.2 on the richter scale am doin it now 4 geo

  • Richter scale is outdated, the moment magnitude is a more quantitative measure.

  • Comment removed

  • Richter scale applies for scientific purposes. It depends on how far away from the epicenter you are and the geography, because some quakes are swaying like Kobe and some are up and down pile drivers like Greece. No matter what the scientists say, to live through it is an imprint on your subconscious.

  • Yea it was. I'm studying it now too in geography! I love geog! And I totally imagine how it's like in such a strong earthquake- it looks REALLY FRIGHTENING. i'm thankful i don't live in an earthquake-prone zone

  • Comment removed

  • Trust me you do not want to feel one I was in Tecoman Colima in 2003 when a 7.8 hit it was the worst thing I have experinced it was just horrible the shaking was extremely strong. Yeah they are interesting, but when you are in the real thing you just want it to stop and go away.

  • how long did that earthquake last for? I was just in the 7.8 New Zealand earthquake, and it wasn't too bad-it rolled and the fault subducted as the hypocenter moved towards the surface creating a more jolt rather than shake. Was much damage done?

  • well from what i know the city of tecoman was only a couple of mile from the epicenter and it was felt as an VIII there and trust me it rocked the city very strongly the lights went out and buildings and houses collapsed it was very bad in my point of view. I believe there are some videos of the earthquake here on youtube. Hope you and everyone else is ok over there bye.

  • Holy crap! Yeah thats amazing, the MMI scale out the strength at VII in our EQ, thats amazing.

  • Trillions of Dollars worth of damage was caused by this Earthquake. Almost 6000 people were killed and the motion apparently only lasted for 20 or so seconds...

  • Shit thats horrible. Just goes to show, it isn't a matter of if, but when.

  • what city were you in when that quake struck? Because if your way far away from the epicenter and the strength of motion quake will go much more weaker.

  • not necessarily. Depending on mountian ranges P, S, L and R waves will be absorbed by a mountain range, and they will then radiate around it and could even destroy a city on the opposite side of it. Also if there is a lake, P waves can't travel through water.

  • 断トツですごい揺れだなあ。嬉しくないが

  • this is a scene inside a bureau for Japanese public broacaster NHK in Kobe.

  • thats horrifying!

  • what the hell are you talking about. earth quakes are cause by plate boundaries, in California the sliding boundary causes a shithlaod.

  • I am sorry but you have been wrong or told absolute wrong, the earthquake DOES come from the sudden release of stored energy from between the faults from and around the plate tectonics. I suggest you and start to research on earthquake and all you will find what I have told you.

  • This video does not last 20 seconds

  • It took me forever to realize that this is all one clip. I thought that it was two seperate clips, but this is one clip playing all the way through. When the lights go out it feels like it's a different location.

  • fuck that would scare the shit out of you

  • out of mr i would have killed myself on pepos XD

  • We love KOBE

  • Oh my god that was a strong one

  • short but strong.

  • wow i wish i dont have to go through that in my life

  • "Gozzirrah!!"" ??

    not funny at all..

  • There was an upward motion for a few seconds first,I remember an english man about fifty he was out for an early morning jog and going down an alleyway said the path seemed to lift up and then he was hit by the sideways motion he grabbed onto the wall and could see it waving like waves going through the surface-text book earthquake

some said that upward motion gave them a few vital seconds to dive under a dresser or desk

this building is fine but others are tilting or collapsing before the end

  • did that thing hit him!

    r did he dodge it?

  • shit..!

  • o_0

  • o_o

  • I'd rather die, instead of sorting my room after that.

  • fuck me...

  • hhaha he was trynna sleep lol

  • It was very strong and terrible.

  • good thing is tvs are tied.

  • Eso parece cataclísmo O.O!! Que miedo.....

  • lmao feel sry for anyone in the toilets trying to take a shit when that went off xD

  • Ha ha, i feel sorry for anyone trying to make a sandwich when that went off, what a chore

  • I was in the toilets when the school fire alarm went off... kinda similar?? LOLL

  • not really cuz your ass didnt get burned from fire.

  • impresonante!!!!!

  • I would love to experience an Earthquake of that force just to feel how strange it would be

  • Ye we had a lil earthqauke in nottingham (UK) last night was well weird lol, i shit myself.

  • The Richter scale is a logarithmic scale. The earthquake here is a 7.2 which is about 200 stronger than the one we had in the UK.

  • we had one in WElls, NV, US that scaled 6.5. Thank god i live 3 hrs away.

  • me too!

  • northridge earthquake taught me that kind of force, similar to kobe's but shorter than kobe's.

  • that was sooo scary!

  • lmao well i feel awful for the people in this quake and yeah pretty devastating but i have to laugh with the bookcase falling on the sleeping man

    ahaha. but yet sorry =]

  • jfngjn, wat r u sayimg im a foreigner living in japan and u r praying to god for a big quake and a tsunami do u want a foreigner like me to get killed or washed away like me, even my family?

  • lol, dude got owned by that bookshelf

  • 7.2 hard...more than 5000 dead...wish that never happens again!!!

  • that be so ...

  • Moral of the story: Don't try to sleep at work.

  • he slept at his work, that why he survived.lol

  • if he had been sleeping at home, he might have been injured or dead.

  • shit!

  • O_o is that my bro ?

    no, really poor guy O_o

  • How be the magnitude of that earhquake

  • omfg!! o_o

  • Wow, Japans earthquakes are violent!

  • WHOA!

  • AAARRRGGGHHH!!! I AM GLAD I WASN'T THERE WHEN THAT HAPPENED! I feel sorry for all of those peeps!Brill vid though!:)

  • Oh my God! And I want to come to Japan to visit my son? LOL I'm from California, and I've never seen one that bad before!

  • this is so damn scary

I was in the eq of Peru in August

    soo damn scary :S

  • los terremotos de japon no se comparan con los de peru esos son muxo mas fuertes pero la estrcturas en japon son super vuenas

  • i don't mind earthquakes really. they just don't scare me. i know all the buildings I go into are structurally sound, so we all just stay calm and ride it out... socal's used to it

  • Obesly you have only been in quakes with magnate 5.0 or lower..

  • "I just got finished cleaning!"

  • so fucking scary shit.. SCARY

  • oh my god i would never live in japan

  • of whichever degrees it was east earthquake?

  • whew, he is lucky he survived this falling cupboard.

  • I was in Yakoda Japan when this happened..Only 150 miles from Kobe...from what I was told we were on a different "plate"..so we didn't feel a thing. It was too bizarre. Woke up to find dozens of Japanese folks croweded around all the TV's...took us awhile to figure out what was going on!

  • the is so terrible i donot feel me fraid is horrible i am akemi earthquak

  • you are crazy.

    why do you like earthquakes?

  • japan is a great country but dam those earthquakes

  • how can u think about dating after seeing that?

  • you have no heart and what about the usa? they have done more harm and continue too now but i dont hate them, you CANT judge a full country on what SOME did in the past.every country has something they have done that is not good,do we hate everyone then? where does it stop? even though you`re an ass Your a human andpart of this world..lets all get along right..

  • what the??man, u have no heart!I cant believe u said that.God will know what to do with you.

  • And that, kids, is what you call racism.

  • The More You Know.... (NBC).

  • Hey what the hell is wrong with you,Japanese people have seen generations of disaster and a nuclear attack. By the way most of the population did not exist during WWI AND WWII. By the way are you Chinese or Korean that makes you sound so angry.

  • im japanese... I hate JAPAN

  • Yes, that is good, wish for the deaths of people! That will make you even more human, good for you. If that happened to YOU how soulless would you feel if a person wanted you to curl up and be forgotten? You can say what you like to me because of my comment, I will expect nothing but cruelty, so you go ahead. And which country HASN'T invanded another for land? It is HUMAN nature, not Japanese. A more childish comment couldn't have been said.

  • those screens were nicely secured

  • Earthquakes are always entertaining when you are watching them...but being in one is just such an uneasy feeling. Very strange to feel the ground moving.

  • This is spooky, I was in the Northridge quake and it's hard getting out of bed when it's bouncing off the ground.

  • I know its has been a year for responding to your message but I also have been thur to Northridge earthquake and i lived about 4 blocks away from CSUN. All i remember was when the heavy sonic boom and the next thing i knew the floor were trying to threw me off by up and downside motion for like 10 seconds. I was only 7 years old at that time.

  • haha that guy doesn't want to get out of bed lol!

i was once in one earthquake in 1999 in turkey, i almost shat myself. it was a 7.8 and when i got back home i found out that 17,118 people died :(

grrr sometimes i can still remember the floor shaking and the screams but my memory's bad so lol!

  • you are laughing?? This is horrible. Anyone who has been in an earthquake knows how terrifying it is.

  • Every earthquake video i see in Japan, furniture always sway around!

  • in th anthropology museum of london there was a simulator of this, oh god i fell o the floor and my nose throw bloodover the floor I was like 12

  • ohhg my fucking god..O.O

  • in kyushu, oita since yesterday earthquake coming go like a wave!! so at least 1 or 2 earthquakes per 30 minuts! the biggest was 4.8 today around 5:30. and I dunno but the NHK said it might continue for 2 or 3 days. I'm fcking scared right now.Couldn't sleep since yesterday.

  • If I were there, I would be so fricking scared. The question is, will I survive?

  • terrible

  • i think god didnt wanna let him sleep (the man)! maybe he hadnt work enough>>> weakness sign in japanese society

  • The guy who was sleeping is lucky--that cabinet just missed falling on him!

  • That guy sleeping in the video probably thought it was godzilla or a giant mech robot shaking the building.

  • haha!

  • I slept through a 5.7 before

  • No way!!! You gotta be kidding me!!! O_O

  • Seriously. I woke up the next morning and my mom asked if I felt the earthquake. I said what earthquake, and she told me it woke her up and she was hanging on for dear life to the couch... I didn't beleive her til I took a good look around the house and saw everything was moved over a foot or so.

  • i cant watch this video!

  • LOL that dood got owned look at the bottom left hand there is a dood sitting down and the cabnet owned him looked like it crushed his head !

  • let the man sleep
