O sogno d'or Poter amar cosa.
What an Angelic voice! I had the privilage to sing "la ci darem la mano" with her at an after-party in 1994. That night she also sang "Summertime" from Porgy & Bess & It's still the best version I've ever heard. Still hope to sing with her again one day. May she continue to be blessed for sharing a little bit of Heaven here on Earth.
I am speechless. I have to sing this aria tomorrow and this has totally changed my interpretation. Such subtle execution! I adored it. Back to the drawing board for me...
I love Puccini's musical! This song and "o mio babbino caro" was both in the movie "A room with a view" based on the book from EM Foster. Read the book and rent the movie. You will love it.
I think this is the best live rendition of this aria I have ever heard.... the way she approaches those high pianissimo notes and beauty of the legato line makes her a top notch singer... also love her musetta aria from the met. i don't know why she isn't more famous than she actually is. She deserves better. Brava
Otra vez Brava!!!
lol Bunch of immatators. The reality is that When the singers talk normaly they sound like there from the country. FAEMERS. They speak le JOULE LOL In other words Broken ugly french LOL Can you beleave this What example are they giving to the young Quebecers ? Other then that they perform ok rated 1 to 10 I give a nice big 7 .Signed Mr. Malrony
That initial high C was lovely! I'm so sick of sopranos SCREAMING that note. This song can either be sung beautifully or it can be butchered. Most do the latter. Arteta does not. Brava
@happyactor6 I agree ...even the best sopranos in the world have a tendency to "make a meal" out of the high notes...keep it simple is the key i think to this stunning piece!
The number of excellent artists exceeds the ability of the world to know and appreciate. Although Ainhoa Arteta is not widely known here, this video makes it clear she is excellent.. When Montserrat Caballe was asked about her, she replied "Ainhoa Arteta, she is one of the great dames of the ópera, whom I personally admire, because of her voice, her technique, her way of being and because I think she is the soprano of Spain in these moments."
a wonderful renditition but if you get the chance to listen to the Kiri Te Kanawa rendition you will love it as well. It features in the original Room With a View film.
It's a beautiful opera but sadly neglected. Main reason is it's similarity to Verdi's La Traviata & the Rambaldo/Lisette plot is contrived. It was origanlly going to be a comedy akin to Der Rosenkavalier or The Merry Widow. I twould have been intresting if Puccini wrote more towards "The Merry Widow". Atlanta Opera did id about 7 years ago. Butterfly, Boheme, Tosca, Turandot and Fanculla are better.
The best performance from all the posted in youtube. Much superior to so called divas. Even thought the high C is not perfect, she really performs the character
Oh my Godness! Stop singing, my dear Ainoa, or keep your stidies going on. Someday, who knows..., you'll be able to sing this like it deserve. Good luck.

I see what others are saying about her concentration and awkward body position. It's a fiendlishly difficult passage and I think her sound is very beautiful, tender as it should be. I however think the tempo goes a *tad* too slow.
I totallly disagree. She is singing the song very much as written by Puccini. Most of the upper notes are written Piano. Except for the one crescendo from A to C. Most of the dramatic type sopranos belt the high notes too loudly to show they can do it. She is concentrating yes. But wouldn't you if you had to sing this every night. I think she is elegant and has the Parisian sophistication required for the role.
