No joke, my .22 pistol just did the exact same thing. Scared me to death! That's how I found this video, because I've never seen this happen and wondered if anyone else had the same experience.
Actually m1, this was not staged. I had the helmet on because my nephew was sitting next to me right before this shooting his gun and it was loud so I simply used my helmet for ear protection. I'm not stupid enough to think a helmet will protect me against bullets ;P
The Jennings J-22 is complete crap, but you did that on purpose. You weren't wearing the helmet or eye protection the first time. Also, the other guy's reaction seemed too staged. Like he was way too excited to see a gun fly apart while shooting it. Anyone who yells "nice" while laughing when a gun comes apart like that, is an actor. In other words, fake and gay.
Funny I bought one cheap. I was reading on a forum page where someone asked how to take it apart. The response was...shoot it a couple hundred times and it will take itself apart...Think I will just leave it on the shelf worse comes to worst it will make enough noise to get me to my trusty 45
I have a jennings j22 I bought as a package deal, from a friend of mine lost his pistol permit and had to give up his guns. while the other 5 were great guns that j22 was the biggest pile of crap i have ever owned or fired. mine too fell apart one day as I was shooting it. I think it would work better as a paper weight. take care.
from my experience and what I have gleaned from these videos it seems that J-22's are not very consistant. Some appear to be good, as my friend had one that never jammed while I picked one that always jams and I have tried every type of ammo I can find. If you are a fan I'm sorry but I can no longer put any trust in this weapon but I have at least tried it with an open mind. The only thing I have seen that was less reliable was the Irma .22 luger style auto.
Actually no it was not done on purpose... I had the helmet on as a replacement for ear protection and thought it would be funny to have a helmet on while shooting
@Mediapickle Then why was noise not a problem until it failed. It seems planned although I hear a lot of negative things about the J22. I guess I will buy one, do a fluff and buff and see how they perform for myself.
you have obviously never owned one, my j22 will hit whatever i aim it at, and a stop sign is nothing, and it doesent matter what the round is shot through, it will penetrate pretty much the same, your an idiot.
I had one of these years ago.I put over 5000 rounds through it.The only time it malfunctioned is when I didn't clean the extractor after a hundred round.
You caused it to happen, You werent wearing your helmet or eye protection the first time you shot it, you sabotaged it to come appart. With A jewlers file and some steel wool you can make these guns more reliable than beretta .22s. Ill post a vid showing how.
whoa, i hope that doesnt happen to mine! ive heard a lot of mixed reviews on this gun, i found with mine that a good cleaning and some remington thunderbolts will give you a descent day of shooting without too much jamming (not sure about collapsing though!)

Apparently so did I. I've fired close to 1000 rounds so far of the cheap bulk and have not had 1 singe mishap.

j-22 pistols are cheap and worthless they can NOT penetrate a simple stop sign at 10yards lol
alwayzhated2009 2 years ago
If I the cops get you shoting at street signs, they will penetrate you!!

I owned a J22. Trust me it's not reliable, it's basically a throw-away gun. Get a real firearm.

mine doesn't even have an extractor and it works fine.

I mean why put your head protection on unless you were "expecting" a malfunction like that...

What's with the helmet?
Did you plan on having the slide come off?
Unless you messed with the retainer assembly before that last shot (hence the helmet, I believe), the slide would've not come off.

thats halarious! i have one and i dont even trust shooting it anymore. but that right there is funny as shit

Yeah, I actually laughed quite a bit after this happened. It was definitely screwed up that it happened but funny.
