Put the lyrical content aside for a moment. I have seen Ozzy, Van Halen, (1978, 1980, 1981) Ratt, Motley Crue, Pantera, Triumph, Krokus, Poison, and on and on. Never have I heard a more technically proficient band "Live" ever, ever, ever. You can tell that they put a lot of time into thier music, they must practice there butt's off, because it's how it sounds and how it shows, and whatever your taste in rock or metal you can't argue that point.
My favorite bands are Megadeth, Anthrax, Metallica, Motley Crue, KISS & Stryper!!! Am I the only person in the world that likes ]v[egadet]-[ & Styrper???

In my opinion these guys laid the foundation for Christian rock/metal, but it seems that other Christian metal/rock bands are as memorable as Stryper is. The one other Christian rock singer I listen to is Ken Tamplin from Shout in the late 80s.

I wish there was a band like Stryper now. Not much Christian representation these days, certainly not of this musical caliber. To all the preachers that came against these guys back in the day, what's the excuse for the apathy we now have toward the Lords ways? I miss those days, it was challenging and fun to be a Christian.

@mrv1967 I've seen that sort of attitude in concert, but I think it's just him trying to perform...I have seen him more recently, since his wife passed away, and I don't see that attitude any longer. With all the success, it does affect people, but if that's the biggest thing that he's had to deal with, then I'm glad the Lord seems to have dealt with him regarding that.

@TigertailzBezerk Stryper does talk about sin in Soldiers Under Command..."through Him, without sin, we have victory..." They don't go into what is sin, and what isn't. I'm sure they figured that it was for each one to work out their salvation with fear and trembling, as it says in the word. Also, they handed out the word of God at their concerts, so kids would read and understand what sin was directly from God's word, and from the promptings of the Holy Spirit, our Wonderful Counselor.

@necrogore5049 Hey, I concur with the Christianity part... but these a chock full of talent I wasn't expecting back then... and the were one of the most original bands among the throngs of others back in the day. Anyway, most secular glam bands acted even more faggy than these guys and some of the most metal guys turned out to be gay... case in point, ROB HALFORD: THE METAL GOD.
i loved the crap outta of this song growing up...these guys were (and kinda still are) my heroes...especially since this was one of the bands i was allowed to listen to b/c they were christian, and that's how i was raised...fun song...
When Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Iron Maiden were doing their thing, many times on the border of things Satanic, Stryper was down in the trenches spreading a message that was not popular then and is not now. But they love God and so they did it anyway, and their new stuff is sick too.
And as far as talent? These guys kill the above mentioned bands in so many ways (not to take away from the accolaides of those band of course :) )
I saw them playing in Madrid, Spain, recently and they are really good, they are rock stars indeed.
One day I went seing a concert of FireHouse and I realized that few bands are one step further, they play with real TALENT, passion and quality. Firehouse is one, and STRYPER for sure too.

Put the lyrical content aside for a moment. I have seen Ozzy, Van Halen, (1978, 1980, 1981) Ratt, Motley Crue, Pantera, Triumph, Krokus, Poison, and on and on. Never have I heard a more technically proficient band "Live" ever, ever, ever. You can tell that they put a lot of time into thier music, they must practice there butt's off, because it's how it sounds and how it shows, and whatever your taste in rock or metal you can't argue that point.

I think you should take a look at Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses if you want to see wolves in sheep's clothing cause they look good on the outside but their doctrine runs contrary to the word of God.

In my opinion these guys laid the foundation for Christian rock/metal, but it seems that other Christian metal/rock bands are as memorable as Stryper is. The one other Christian rock singer I listen to is Ken Tamplin from Shout in the late 80s.

I wish there was a band like Stryper now. Not much Christian representation these days, certainly not of this musical caliber. To all the preachers that came against these guys back in the day, what's the excuse for the apathy we now have toward the Lords ways? I miss those days, it was challenging and fun to be a Christian.

Next time you come across someone who says that point out in scripture where David danced for joy and praised God with his dancing. Some dances are appropriate. You could also quote " Do not call unclean what God has made clean"- Acts10:15. How is someone sing about their love for Jesus or how great God is be a bad thing? Pointing to that, brought me trouble @ 1 church. So I left.

The remarks here are so funny, it reminds me of when I was a child. A baptist preacher told me rock music was satan's music, because it has the beat of African voodoo drums. Funny stuff. He said that's why they don't dance. I listen to all genres of music, and I don't feel it has affected my walk with God.

On the contrary, Stryper produces the fruit of the Spirit by bolding preaching the word of God to see people turn to Jesus Christ. Have you ever listened to them talk in any of their concerts or interviews, or read their lyrics to their songs?...it's quite plain what they stand for.

@mrv1967 I've seen that sort of attitude in concert, but I think it's just him trying to perform...I have seen him more recently, since his wife passed away, and I don't see that attitude any longer. With all the success, it does affect people, but if that's the biggest thing that he's had to deal with, then I'm glad the Lord seems to have dealt with him regarding that.

Ok, I'm not a christian myself, but I do like Stryper music. What is the big deal?? Hard believers: if you don't like the music DON'T WATCTH THE VIDS! and let others to enjoy them. Somebody wrote: "if god (yes, lower case as it is a common noun) didn't exist, then you wouldn't either". If a tree fell in the woods, and there was nobody there to hear it, would it make any sound? Metal music is not a sin, The lyrics can definitely be but Stryper dont have a one song that has anything to do with sin. I found God through their music - No joke. I was born a Christian but their lyrics made me understand what I have to do and how I need to live. They saved me

@TigertailzBezerk Stryper does talk about sin in Soldiers Under Command..."through Him, without sin, we have victory..." They don't go into what is sin, and what isn't. I'm sure they figured that it was for each one to work out their salvation with fear and trembling, as it says in the word. Also, they handed out the word of God at their concerts, so kids would read and understand what sin was directly from God's word, and from the promptings of the Holy Spirit, our Wonderful Counselor.

They have played songs that influenced them as they were first starting out, and growing in God...I don't see nothing wrong with that.

Not sure why people are trying to convince me I can't like all of the bands being mentioned at the same time.
I dig Metallica. I dig Stryper. I dig guitar rock. I don't care what any of them are wearing when they perform, or if they are Christian or evil, straight or gay.
Do they SOUND good.
In my opinion, Stryper does, and Michael Sweet's voice could always make the hair on my arms stand on end.

Anyway, most secular glam bands acted even more faggy than these guys and some of the most metal guys turned out to be gay... case in point, ROB HALFORD: THE METAL GOD.

When Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Iron Maiden were doing their thing, many times on the border of things Satanic, Stryper was down in the trenches spreading a message that was not popular then and is not now. But they love God and so they did it anyway, and their new stuff is sick too.
And as far as talent? These guys kill the above mentioned bands in so many ways (not to take away from the accolaides of those band of course :) )

I saw them playing in Madrid, Spain, recently and they are really good, they are rock stars indeed.
One day I went seing a concert of FireHouse and I realized that few bands are one step further, they play with real TALENT, passion and quality. Firehouse is one, and STRYPER for sure too.
