@topperheartramada The guy that got out of the trench running - he ran because those were his orders, to run towards the enemny trench he outran the others because (as it was shown at the beginning) he was a fast runner. For many soldiers if they even got the enemy trench they didn't know what to do and just ran back. Hope this clears it up (plus if you're in te enemy trench you're out of the machine-gun fire)
@hanachan131 Actually in the actual battle there were several soldiers made it to the trench wall of the Turks, one guy sat against the parapet smoking and lighting grenades to throw in the trenches until he ran out, under cover of darkness he crawled back towards the Australian trenches but inadvertently got lost in nearby Monash Valley, he took several days to return to safety.......sadly none of the others were ever seen again.
Can I ask one question: Why was that guy running? Because if you outrun your fellow soldiers and reach the enemy trench all by yourself, you are kind of in trouble. I guess he may have thought it was suicide anyway and he didn't really care, but I have always found that last scene awkward.

Hes the most sucesfull sniper in history, and funny is all kills (505 !maybe higther unconfirmed!)were in less than 100 days!!!
Finnish soliders in ww2 were the best in my opinion, very small numbers against the biggest army in the world, in 5 years of war against russia and the frontline was held and finnland never occupied, unlike germany who lost its captured land and its own territory.
Surely not, the germans were in superior numbers and technicaly superior and trained for 5 years.
Also the casualties were on german side: 158, 000 and on allied side: 360,000 which is a ratio of nearly
1 - 2 dead germans for every allied. A high number but not as high as finnland which holds the record of any war.
In the winter war it was 25000 finnish deads and 226000 dead russians. Thats a ratio of 1 - 9, far higher than your germans. In other words, a german only killed 2 enemies, we 9
@JSLegoMaster you can not just count the dead soldiers. during the barbarossa campain in russia the red army lost 13 million men (dead) but still won the war.
@JSLegoMaster Your numbers are possibly correct but what do they proove?
I have heard old men brag about this. My father was there facing Russian tanks, but he never bragged about it. Later in his life he worked in Russia and had Russian friends. What you are saying is that 25000 Finnish soldiers and 226000 Russian soldiers died for nothing. How many Finnish people were killed or forced to starve by the retreating Germans?
No im not saying that, you possible understand it wrong.
The russians died for nothing since the "Great Stalin" ent wave afetr wave in the death, knowing if he lost 100000 men, it wouldnt bother becuase he has 5 million in reserve.
For the finns it was a fight for freedom and defence for their country, just like the russians defended their country against the nazis. And im very proud we kicked the germans out of finnland when they betrayed us - they didnt hold narva.
Dude Mannerheim is a finnish hero and practicaly everyone thinks he is the greates finn ever.
In the red revolution 1919, he stopped finnland to get a part of the soviet union with the white army. He was a front figther himself, unlike Stalin. The soviets he stopped are ovherwheigthing the 2000 finns that died by germans in 1944 - 1945. He saved finnland 2 times and to be allies with germany was necessary.
@JSLegoMaster Hey, I am not practically everyone and I think Finland, like Suomi, should be written with a capital. "Dude" is not fitting. You could say "jätkä" or more likely "hurri".
You are talking about two wars now. It is (in my opinion) a good thing that Finland did not become a part of the Soviet Union, and perhaps Mannerheim deserves some credit for that. As an independent nation Finland could have stayed out of WW II, but as allies of Nazi Germany that was not possible.
I know im talking about 2 wars i dont understand how you can think otherwise -_-
Well first, finnland was in war with soviet union even while russia and germans were allies due to the Molotov ribbentrop pact, the soviet attack on finnland had nothing to do with germany. However, the german support of small arms and modern tanks resqued the finns at talli inhatala 1944 so i think it was a good thing, the finns didnt help germany with murdering jews or something like that.
@JSLegoMaster I can think otherwise because you were presenting statistics (kill raitos) from WW II, which seems to have nothing to do with the civil war in 1919.
If you need to think of Mannerheim as a national hero for official reasons, political reasons or national pride, that is ok. I do not need to think so and I don't think that makes me a traitor.
I also believe there were imporant tactical and logistic reasons for the death of so many Soviet soldiers.
Im Swedish. When we sat in our warm houses in winter 1939/1949 the finns fought against a tenfold supremacy which they held back for 5 years.
Its not political, form left to right, socialist, conservative, green, liberal, Mannerheim is considerd a hero on all sides
There Red army had thir principal - oh we lost 10000 men, well we send another 10000 tomorrow and if they all die, we still have a million in reserve.
Its not the fault of the single solider, its by horrible leadership.
@JSLegoMaster In Sweden "lego" either means mercenary or building blocks for children.
If you sat in your house in 1939 then you are too old to play with children's toys and also too old to play with guns or follow leaders. The war was over a long time ago. Molotov is dead. Joseph Stalin is dead and the Soviet Union is gone.
With "we" i mean the swedish people (beside the 12000 woulounteers).
I dont play, i animate its a form of art but you sure dont understand much abotu that. I have won some real life film competitions with them but anywais - is it wrong to research and read about history? You seem like you dont care abotu anything that happend in the past, while history teaches us much.
By the way the consequences of ww2 are inflicting us today to, there is no way to overlook that.
We discused about finnlands role now, i think your the one who wants to go off topic, its not forbidden to discus about other conflics than the video shows ont worry.
We didnt discus abotu galipolli in the last 5 messages so i dont know what your problem is
Herrgeud vi kan snacka här, bra för dig men din bedömelse skiter jag i, har nog referenser om at filmerna inte är en barnlek =)
@JSLegoMaster Animation can be a child's game. Animation can also be a powerful means of communication. But you are right: I sure don't understand much about animation as a form of art. I did appreciate Final Fantasy and Beowulf but more for technical aspects.
I have many problems but in relation to you there is only one. You don't care what anyone else thinks and I am someone else. I don't think like you and I will not pretend to think like you. It is that simple.
@JSLegoMaster No. There is no totally wrong or totally right for me. There are opinions and there are interpretations. History is certainly like that. I am not looking for a conflict.
This is not fair. You think you have an online identity to defend. You think you are on trial and I am accusing you. I am not. I don't think I have anything to defend here so that is an unfair advantage. I can say what I think and what I believe. Can you?
Dude we discused a historical event wtf is your dam problem yes i defend becuase you say i am wrong i dont think there is anything wrong with that i got the right to defend.
Now why dont we just talk about history again? Seems you want to get off topic real bad
Anyone who disagrees with you has some kind of damned problem, so you see my damned problem is that I do not agree with everything you say. I have probably not read the same history book that you have. I don't quote authorities or reliable sources and I do not believe there is only one true history. So you see, there is no point.
You certainly have a right to defend yourself but I am not attacking. Goodbye!
It sure it someting about holy shit and that is your behaviour.
You are accusing me for having problems with anyone who doesnt think like me and that is certainly not the case. Your problem is, anyone who doesnt think like you is a egoist who thinks anyone beside him is wrong. I never said there is one true history your just trying to paint a bad picture of me instead of discusing hisotry which you clearn can no do objectivly.
Jag vill inte sloss med dig. En tahdo tapella sinun kansa. I don't want to fight with you. Go on believing whatever it is you want to believe. I know I can't change that so why should I even try. I don't think history is objective, but never mind. It is only my personal evaluation after all. And yes I do want to get off the topic.
Now if you must interpret this as a fight then I can't change that either. I give up! I surrender! You win!
I said facts are objective, not history you seem to read everyting wrong -_-
Yeah go act like a teacher now, you wouldnt listen to anybody else either so why should i even try? Your acting kinda funny, but there is no winner and it doesnt seem like you can let my comment stay unanswerd, you dont care as less as you say =P
@dimitboris Nobody won. People don't win wars. Generals, politicians, journaliststs and nationalistic historians claim victories.
Anyway, that was more than 60 years ago and the CCCP is gone. If the CCCP was only Russian colonies then you have lost them too. Living in peace is a great challenge for some people. Can you do that or do you need to fight with Faust.
@fbgang but the bravest and most courages countrey in the war who never stopped and gave it there all was australia, the ones that really made a diffrnece!!!!
Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives you are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets where they lie side by side here in this country of ours You the mothers who sent their sons from far away countries, wipe away your tears. Your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. Having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well.

Let it go.

StimuLAZ 1 month ago
What you accuse me for is exacly what you are yourself. You think im totaly wrong and your right, as simple as that.
And what i say is the truth, the historical facts i gave you are well documented and have reliable sources, the numbers speak for themselves
JSLegoMaster 1 month ago
@JSLegoMaster No. There is no totally wrong or totally right for me. There are opinions and there are interpretations. History is certainly like that. I am not looking for a conflict.
This is not fair. You think you have an online identity to defend. You think you are on trial and I am accusing you. I am not. I don't think I have anything to defend here so that is an unfair advantage. I can say what I think and what I believe. Can you?
StimuLAZ 1 month ago
Holy crap....
Dude we discused a historical event wtf is your dam problem yes i defend becuase you say i am wrong i dont think there is anything wrong with that i got the right to defend.
Now why dont we just talk about history again? Seems you want to get off topic real bad
JSLegoMaster 1 month ago
@JSLegoMaster Ain't nothing holy about shit.
Goodbye!
StimuLAZ 1 month ago
It sure it someting about holy shit and that is your behaviour.
You are accusing me for having problems with anyone who doesnt think like me and that is certainly not the case. Your problem is, anyone who doesnt think like you is a egoist who thinks anyone beside him is wrong. I never said there is one true history your just trying to paint a bad picture of me instead of discusing hisotry which you clearn can no do objectivly.

@JSLegoMaster Keep your shirt on mate!
You win!
StimuLAZ 1 month ago
