@topperheartramada The guy that got out of the trench running - he ran because those were his orders, to run towards the enemny trench he outran the others because (as it was shown at the beginning) he was a fast runner. For many soldiers if they even got the enemy trench they didn't know what to do and just ran back. Hope this clears it up (plus if you're in te enemy trench you're out of the machine-gun fire)

@hanachan131 Actually in the actual battle there were several soldiers made it to the trench wall of the Turks, one guy sat against the parapet smoking and lighting grenades to throw in the trenches until he ran out, under cover of darkness he crawled back towards the Australian trenches but inadvertently got lost in nearby Monash Valley, he took several days to return to safety.......sadly none of the others were ever seen again.

Can I ask one question: Why was that guy running? Because if you outrun your fellow soldiers and reach the enemy trench all by yourself, you are kind of in trouble. I guess he may have thought it was suicide anyway and he didn't really care, but I have always found that last scene awkward.

The afghans want stability and if that means brokering a peace with the taliban then so be it. We werent quite so critical of them when they overthrew the government in 1996, hanged the leader of the country and then started doing bloody purges. We recognised them and deemed them to be legitimate. The afghan war is the same as iraq its about aggrandising america nothing more. If it were for some moral reason then there are others far worse and dangerous then the taliban factions.

Finnish soliders in ww2 were the best in my opinion, very small numbers against the biggest army in the world, in 5 years of war against russia and the frontline was held and finnland never occupied, unlike germany who lost its captured land and its own territory.

Also the casualties were on german side: 158, 000 and on allied side: 360,000 which is a ratio of nearly

1 - 2 dead germans for every allied. A high number but not as high as finnland which holds the record of any war.

In the winter war it was 25000 finnish deads and 226000 dead russians. Thats a ratio of 1 - 9, far higher than your germans. In other words, a german only killed 2 enemies, we 9

In the red revolution 1919, he stopped finnland to get a part of the soviet union with the white army. He was a front figther himself, unlike Stalin. The soviets he stopped are ovherwheigthing the 2000 finns that died by germans in 1944 - 1945. He saved finnland 2 times and to be allies with germany was necessary.

Well first, finnland was in war with soviet union even while russia and germans were allies due to the Molotov ribbentrop pact, the soviet attack on finnland had nothing to do with germany. However, the german support of small arms and modern tanks resqued the finns at talli inhatala 1944 so i think it was a good thing, the finns didnt help germany with murdering jews or something like that.
