the very idea of meditation is wrong. it persuades you that there is someone that can do something in order to attain something else (in this case enlightenment, of silence).
Only a fool would try to attain liberation through a method.
Only an ignorant or a deceiver would teach techniques...
Although Osho was once a philosophy teacher he does not call himself a philosopher because philosophy is about thinking and conceptualizing reality, his approach is about silence and meditation. The opposite of philosophizing. He is all about seeing and being in reality, not the mind.
@varan9595 You wonder why Osho would be in a meditative state all the time? It is simply a way of living life in its fulest sense. Enlightened ones still meditate because there is no definite englightened state, for enlightenment itself goes deeper and knows many levels.
@andrewsx16 Everyone has its way to follow, yours is your religion, mine is my way to see things.Don't try to convince other people,if you feel happy with Ortodox church, maybe we don't feel the same.
Meditation in fact is not difficult. It is a habit that we can have or not. To start a new habit, a little practice is necessary. They are many many different ways to learn and to practice meditation. We have to find which one is the One for us in trying some of them. Meditation as Osho said in this video, is simple. Anyone can meditate. It is to be completely aware, IN THIS VERY MOMENT! See more about meditation at centremukti.
@Agui007 Meditation is being in thoughtlessness, like Osho said be as you are.. but in practical, it is possible only after lot of efforts and practice.. it is very much difficult to do by beginner. for beginners, it is instructed to focus on something such as breathing/light/dot on white wall etc.,. this kind of focusing will end up in meditation of thoughtlessness. What osho explains is the real meditation..
Meditation can be very confusing. This type of meditation Osho describes seems different to that the Tibetan Monks use, as there's seems to be the focus upon something such as breathing, maybe someone can explain please?
As I said in another video, I started meditating back in 1973 and It has been a wonderful journey of inner revelation, "BUT!" I have come to realize that anything can be a form of meditation. Even satsang itself can be a form of meditation or eating your breakfast or talking to your children. Many (not all) Westerners, focus far too much on the trappings of something different from the East and never grasp the core meanings and as a result, they never actually "GET IT."
99.9 % of world population is cannot handle the truth after 2500 years of budda what a shame ..this man did at his best to bring the sleeping people to wake.....i feel sorry for this man...
powerful. i love this. "...meditation is not against action, it is not that you have to escape from life, it simply teaches you a new way of life..you become the center of the cyclone. your life goes on.." . (and, i have to note that he has lovely, gentle hands and perfect nails.)

It does not get any clearer than That , , ,but to feel what is being shared here you must be moderately relaxed to start. Take 15 minutes or so to relax as much as possible for you before even attempting to connect with the words . Busy mind will miss the deep message here . This talk is directed to your body as well as the mind .
In simple words, by practice, you can always keep certain percentage of attention within yourself, while doing anything, feel your whole body and mind while doing.
What is not mentioned is meditation while doing is possible, but it takes decades of practise, slowly building up the skill. Most people find it hard enough to meditate properly sitting in complete silence, totally still, for just 20 minutes. Still, this is a very worthwhile thing to work towards.
@TheSeekerAll Well, it's a point of view. It's where you are standing now,
in your position, as a seeker ( no jugement here, just a point of view : ) ) .
You don't have to practice for years. As many masters said, 5 seconds are enough. Mooji explains it very well : )
It happened to me without knowing wft was happening to me : )
Saying you need lots of practice and to do a lot of things to reach peace/ inner silence is just a way to put it away from you. It's NOW. No time, no practice.
What is important is the message, not the speaker. But people are paying attention and listening to the messenger rather than just listening. Just listen then you and the speaker are one, and all that exists is the message, which is most important thing in any teachings. IE... Jesus had something to say, but chasing Jesus and trying to make everyone a christian through Jesus, is the main factor you will never understand the message Jesus had to say. Message and our listening is most important.
Very good teaching meditation help so much and work at 100 % .
I am see right away when I am not connect because the waves around are not good.
I work with public all my life , I know what is waves ! :) I know also when I feel angry that will reflect on everything ...everything will move and rebond on me the way I send it.
Meditation give us the quietness of our emotions, we become master of our self and we can send great vibes.
i first heard of this guy by reading a book of his on Taoism.. now seeing him, he is so cool!! wow, what a character. totally calms me out and puts me in my zen spot.
@Radian1991 it is the stlye which trescends all era's it is the dress of combination of every culture, The dress of the future. Perhaps he learned it from a civilization on another planet he witnessed during one of his deep meditations.
I have looked into his eyes, he into mine, face to face, not in a group... darshan. He saw eternity in me and through me. Inside and outside are the same - irrelevant - the same. He is the only person I've ever met in whose eyes I could see infinity. And who saw through me to infinity too.
Osho's hands are womanish !.. watch closely ..thats y i think he had more affinity with women .. and he could easily overlook what some women were doing behind his back...

However "evil" you may think money is, it is a necessary part of your life and everyone else's life. The idea that money is the root of all evils is an idea of separation that keeps everyone confined exactly where they are. I encourage you to read Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. He was poor himself growing up, so it's a good account of what money can actually be. Money IS a spiritual concept, for both good and ill. Open your mind, my friend.
@nycballer4life money isnt bad, its the intentions spawned from greed, of the people that controll it and manipulate it - i think greed is the root of madness. money is the tool ...but i think theres thruth in both. -
If you spend your life only in present it is easy to forget the lessons that past mistakes (our own and others) have taught. And you do not properly prepare yourself for the day to come.
If you spend your life only in the past, you forget to enjoy what is here and now and never look forward to what can be.
If you spend your life always looking ahead you loose touch with reality and forget the past.
Life to the full is a balance of learning from the past, enjoying the present and looking forward
Good question. The watch is because he is living and functioning in this world, so it is important to know what time it is e.g. if he's giving a lecture at a certain time, he must be there. His book is referring to a state in which the illusion of time is transcended. Therefore one's attention is on the present, not on thoughts of past and future.
May be I would read the book again for your understanding. I also recommend the book "The Power of Now" A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment, from Eckhart Tolle. The whole book is about the Now. I highly recommend it. Very clear and helps you become aware.
I agree. Writers like Eckhart Tolle, and Alan Watts, teach similar things as Osho, but say it in a way that may make it more accessible to the "western" groomed mind.
He may not have cared about time, during those moments the video was being recored yet present in them, a watch is just a material object one needs inorder to tell relative time, which is a concept, usefull in our conceptual world and he was evidently present in it.
gasto5 is absolutely correct! He is spooky!!! :) Suddenly his eyes expand so much... as if they were saying "Eureka! I found the next word to speak!" ... :) What benediction! :)
From studying a great deal I believe that meditation is not a "how to do," but a state to "be." When in a constant meditative state one is calm, no disturbance, speaks slowly and pricisely. That is the best answer I can give.
well... If you did back excersizes to strngthen your bakc muscles, like yoga, then your back wouldnt hurt... If your gonna meditate it's a good idea to keep your back in good shape. also, I heard somewhere you could meditate on a chair... lok it up.
I came here to start learning meditation, to find my center. I found that he explains this phenomenon beautifully, and simply, with a very calming almost hypnotic/melodious tone.
The dude also has *the* most fascinatingly expressive eyebrows I have ever seen.
Most people don't understand that what he is saying should be digested slowly, generally people in the western world think speak and react too fast without reflecting on the matter.
Reacting on emotion is usually never a good choice. Clearly how you narrowed your comment down to one group is an example of this. We are ALL human. Eat, breath, sleep and poop.EVERYONE. Bad or just stupid apples in every bunch,Regardless of race, religion or geography.
Many people seem to believe he is meditating after every phrase or sentence. Please realize this is not the case.
He is merely taking time to formulate his words clearly and concisely. Most of us (being western) believe this is very odd, as we talk sooo quickly in comparison to the rest of the world. It would do us all good to slow down. As he states, one is always meditating once they understand this. Meditation is not an act...it is a state. ^^
what if i want to control meditation...if i understand it will i do it for the rest of my life...because i might need to whoop some ass or something ya dig?
Actually Osho explains the pauses in another video. The pauses are not for his benefit. They are actually for the listener. They are samples of silence so to speak in that they allow you an entrance into that quiet attentiveness that is essential in meditation.
According our Buddhists views: although the meditation seem is a very simple phenomenon, but to liberate ourselve from all suferrings through meditation is not a simple story. Yet the meditation is a good practise in our lifestyle. Thank you very much and may all your lifes become better everyday. ~~
I love how he bugs for 2-3 seconds to think what to say next, instead of saying useless things like politician cornered in a debate or uneasy people in a talkshow. That's the proof of real calmness and serenity.
i wish i could be there listening to the master...

Appointments... Why do you carry a watch?
juansjovis 2 years ago
May be I would read the book again for your understanding. I also recommend the book "The Power of Now" A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment, from Eckhart Tolle. The whole book is about the Now. I highly recommend it. Very clear and helps you become aware.
andiaw 2 years ago

I think he is explaining the TRUE form of meditation, which we can integrate into our every moment. This is very cool! Thanks Osho.

Babypenis09 2 years ago
From studying a great deal I believe that meditation is not a "how to do," but a state to "be." When in a constant meditative state one is calm, no disturbance, speaks slowly and pricisely. That is the best answer I can give.
shamansufi 2 years ago

LOL, it took him one minute to say one sentence. Thats the power of meditation.
patryk30111 2 years ago
Most people don't understand that what he is saying should be digested slowly, generally people in the western world think speak and react too fast without reflecting on the matter.
jeremiad86 2 years ago
Reacting on emotion is usually never a good choice. Clearly how you narrowed your comment down to one group is an example of this. We are ALL human. Eat, breath, sleep and poop.EVERYONE. Bad or just stupid apples in every bunch,Regardless of race, religion or geography.

Is he meditating after every phrase?
SkyHunter00013 2 years ago
Many people seem to believe he is meditating after every phrase or sentence. Please realize this is not the case.
He is merely taking time to formulate his words clearly and concisely. Most of us (being western) believe this is very odd, as we talk sooo quickly in comparison to the rest of the world. It would do us all good to slow down. As he states, one is always meditating once they understand this. Meditation is not an act...it is a state. ^^

what if i want to control meditation...if i understand it will i do it for the rest of my life...because i might need to whoop some ass or something ya dig?
Gmoreno89 2 years ago
Actually Osho explains the pauses in another video. The pauses are not for his benefit. They are actually for the listener. They are samples of silence so to speak in that they allow you an entrance into that quiet attentiveness that is essential in meditation.
Bluespyryt 1 year ago
According our Buddhists views: although the meditation seem is a very simple phenomenon, but to liberate ourselve from all suferrings through meditation is not a simple story. Yet the meditation is a good practise in our lifestyle. Thank you very much and may all your lifes become better everyday. ~~

I love how he bugs for 2-3 seconds to think what to say next, instead of saying useless things like politician cornered in a debate or uneasy people in a talkshow. That's the proof of real calmness and serenity.
