The problem with what they are saying is that brain injuries can come from abrupte change of direction of the head causing the brain to move in the cranium. I think that can be acheived by being tackled directly on the shoulders and getting from full speed to dead stop immediatly. It does not even have to involved hits to the head as it is the case with the wiplash effect in a car accident! That means that ALL contact and fight sports should be included in this study.

Mike Webster was a great guy. RIP. It is good to hear the team doctor's opinions. Now, in a lot of Mike Webster's time playing I am sure he got head slapped by defensive linemen numerous times. Maybe not a concussion, but enough over time to cause potential harm. How do we measure the accumulative effects for players in general? Tough. Mandatory CT scans after each game? I am glad that stories like this come out to show the average fan what a cost some players take in playing the game.
