I think that if you'd turn off some stuff in Vista which you don't really use it would boot as fast as XP. Vista has a lot of background services which you don't need.. Anyway, this computers are amazing.. Need to buy one myself :)

i tested vista and xp on a 1.6 Ghz oqo and i found that vista was annoyingly slow and XP was running smooth as usual.

I agree with this guy, vista was only around 5 seconds behind XP. Are you guys really that impatient? I also prefer Vista for the interface, and new features. A lot of people hate it because they configure their OS wrong, while others hate it because they follow the other people who say they hate it. When you've got Vista working, its brilliant.

I have XP/Vista dual boot on my system in certain games I average 2x the frames in XP that I do in Vista.

As far as memory usage the version of XP I have uses about 300MB on idle where vista can use up to 1.4 gig.

I don't know about you but I want my system to perform well not look nice

With the right configuration XP is even faster and need less RAM than Vista. e.g. Ultimate runs 2GB of my 4GB Desktop RAM without any big Programms, XP with the same Programs runs only 600MB ! What is this ??? FUCKING VISTA ! Never USE it, Ever hate it. And Bill knows it too, or why you can now downgrade all new German Laptops back from Vista to XP?? Its the better System!

No, its not integrated. Why do we stll have to buy then. Vista uses "SuperFetch" which optimizes RAM and uses it more often than XP. Actually Vista is faster but people only like to compare the boot. Its actually the experience of working with windows which counts not the booting speed.

I agree with this video. Vista fire application from its rams (superfetch). XP fire applications from HDD and UMPC HDD is slow (4200rpm).

Just need to uninstall all the crabware, shut down unwanted services and use tuneup utilities and u are done. THe next time u uses vista it will be much faster than XP.

this was pretty lame, this doesn't prove anything, but there have been alot of complaints of how Vista is incompatible with so many programs out there that are compatible with xp. I don't even think that many people use outlook anyway, they probably use msn or yahoo.

Its actually compatible but you only have to adjust the programs a bit because of the UAC. I have been using vista on my lenovo Computer (Preloaded with XP Home and not Vista capable) bought on 26 November 2006 and it works great. (Experience Index is 3.6-Nvidia 6100)

My Macromedia Fireworks MX 2004 Software has to run in compatibility mode in Vista making Vista loose all the Aero features. Really sucky IMHO. Went back to XP Media Center Edition and everything is great :). I wonder what the specs of these PCs were. Like how they completely didn't tell us.

This pre-loading feature takes up system resources and makes those resources unavailable to applications that are running in the foreground.

All the preloading and sexy interface in Vista is why I  would not use it on the OQO yet as they use up too much systems resources.

I'm going to be a critic here. You may have problems if you try to upgrade Vista from Win XP without an f-disk and fresh install but you can install a perfectly smooth running copy of Vista at home -- you don't need to reply on a factory install.
