Yo I'm thinking about buying this graphics card. I'm torn between the 570 and sylvester stallone. I heard when you install stallone into your system, ya know, you can play battlefield 3 at 2000 fps at 1920X1080 resolution. Pauly won't know what to do
BS. those settings he used in the video just barely go over 700mb so nice try. and even in games like BF3 the gtx570 is always beating the gtx480 by a few fps. look at BF 3 review on techspot.com if you doubt me.
I just tested on the exact settings with my gtx570 and 2500k as he did and in the places where it chugged and dropped to teens and even to 12 fps for him that did NOT happen for me. the lowest drop was to 22 fps at the point where he hit 12 fps. where he was hitting teens I was at upper 20s and even low 30s. there is something wrong with his gtx570 or its a driver issue for him. I even upload a crappy video for you just showing the framerate. that's the best I can do with my cell phone.
he has the same cpu for the gtx480 too and its not doing it. the only way I could get his low fps dips and sluggishness was to have physx run on the cpu. so either thats what was happening or its a driver issue.
I really need to make a decision in purchasing a card, I am torn between 480 and 570. From this video is seems clear that while overall GTX 570 may gain 1 FPS there are key moments that I saw where GTX 480 pulls ahead. So for those hardware aficionados out there, tell me what you think.
I am personally leaning towards 570 since there is ongoing support (just a few days ago there was a new driver release that upped framerates for the latest games but it seemed to be geared towards the 500s)
Am I overseeing something? The GTX 480 seems to be the clear winner, 1:22 GTX480 FPS: 33.81. GTX570 FPS: 19.31. This happens every time at around that part of the benchmark, through the rest of the benchmark they show similar FPS.
The 570 is slower clock for clock. The 480 has 8 more ROP's, more memory, and higher bandwith. So, clock for clock, the 480 should pull slightly ahead. The 570 is also known for blowing VRM's.This test was done with both cards at stock speeds, and the 570 is clocked higher.
@snakeeyes5641 I personally would get the GTX 570, but the 6970 is good too. The 570 gets slightly more FPS I think... I don't remember. look at Guru 3d bench marks.
also, depends on how much you wanna spend, 6970s are going cheap!

Most benchmarks and reviews are incompetent? Ok lol even the official nvidia website rates them slightly more powerful than the 480. It also runs 17 degrees cooler, overclocks better, uses less power and is much quieter I would prefer the newer 570 any day as it is essentially a the refined replacement for the 480

@Cenkolino The 6970 can easily compete with the 480, however it's slower than the 580. The 480 gets the same FPS as one of my 5850's with crossfire disabled (single card). The 480 isn't that good...

@TheMightyLu The 5850 is a mid-ranged card now, but last gen it wasn't.. When it was 480 & 470 vs 5870 & 5850, the 5870 beat the 480 on Crysis by about 10fps. The 5850 also got beaten by the 5870 on the same Crysis benchmark by about 10fps.
The 5850 was one down from the top of the range of the time, I would call that a high range card, wouldn't you?
Seriously dude I just ran the benchmark myself and got 34.22fps. That is 0.10fps less than the 480.
Its very simple. Most Benchmarksites are plain and simple incompetent. The GTX 480 is faster than the GTX 570. The minimum FPS are the essentiell indictator for the potence of an GPU. As you can see quite well in the video above @ 2:20.
480 its faster than 570, if you clock it to same speeds than 570, and wins in higher resolutions because of extra vram, but consumes more and makes more noise, so 570 its a better choice
I have an 450 Watt supply and can get up to 480W, should i buy this card ? ? it says that it requires 550W but if i look at the Total System Energy Load its only about 400Watts. i got a Quad core Q9400 2,66Ghz whit 3gb of ram ? Thanks
Overall, GTX570 owns, but performance wise, GTX480 wins. GTX480 just beats 570 easily, clock to clock (even at lower clock). All you need is a better after-market cooler. Even without it, GTX480 still performs much better at DirectX11 title.

@Mattoasis92 probably similar but metro 2033 takes lots of vram,i even seen the 1.5gb of my 480 filled up by metro 2033,sometimes you would get really low fps like in 1:19.
570 and 480 almost the same,but the 570 is not the best card for 3d vision in 1080p or high res like 2560x1600 or even surround i dont even talk about 3d surround due not enough vram...
I'd like to see some higher resolution tests, 1920x1080 isn't making use of all the vram on either card. The 480 might have a slight advantage at 2560x1600 or with more AA, not that you would play Metro at those settings, but in general.

I would really like to see GTX 285 SLi to a GTX 580 and GTX570 and all that. Not everyone upgraded to the GTX 400 series when they came out. Im still using my GTX 285 SLi. Id like to see a direct comparison between them to see if its worth the upgrade.
@madgnad im gonna take a guess and assume u'd get better fps just cus u dont have DX11. In this game if i turn off the other DX11 option that not tessellation gains me like 10-15 fps on a GTX 580 at 1080p so i'd imagine DX10 version of the game would be a bit less demanding and u got 2 good gpus in sli
gtx 570 only has 1280mb of frame buffer. Metro 2033 uses more than that at max. almost 1450mb. so the GTX 480 has the edge with its bigger frame buffer.

@Thet3 the gtx480 was the best graphics card of its time thus making it the most wanted card which makes it cost more. the gtx570 is no the best graphics card on the market but is more advanced than the gtx480 so it is not as desired and was manufactured more easily which is why it costs less.

The GTX 480 consumes more heat and energie while the GtX 570 has more overclock room.
And there are better drivers out now that benefits the GTX 570 more then the GTX 480.
So i say go whit the GTX 570.

From all this tests I understand that for proper gaming we need to wait for better graphic card OR buy GTX 590's .
A cheeper solution would be to SLI GTX 560ti but not good for 3d vision . GTX 590 SLI for 3d vision.

Hay guys, i have a question.
I have a gtx 470 with custom cooler but it has been heavly used for about 7 months and it gets a bit hot sometimes.
My options are:
Buy a GTX 570 "Phantom Edition or Stock"
or
Buy a new cooler for my 470 and have a lower lifespam than i wold have with the 570. Im leaning towards the buying of the 570 option.

I'd like to see some higher resolution tests, 1920x1080 isn't making use of all the vram on either card. The 480 might have a slight advantage at 2560x1600 or with more AA, not that you would play Metro at those settings, but in general.

I would really like to see GTX 285 SLi to a GTX 580 and GTX570 and all that. Not everyone upgraded to the GTX 400 series when they came out. Im still using my GTX 285 SLi. Id like to see a direct comparison between them to see if its worth the upgrade.

@madgnad im gonna take a guess and assume u'd get better fps just cus u dont have DX11. In this game if i turn off the other DX11 option that not tessellation gains me like 10-15 fps on a GTX 580 at 1080p so i'd imagine DX10 version of the game would be a bit less demanding and u got 2 good gpus in sli

gtx = better performance but more power consumption and by more i mean a lot more. be sure if you get a 480 make sure you have a good psu.

gtx 570 only has 1280mb of frame buffer. Metro 2033 uses more than that at max. almost 1450mb. so the GTX 480 has the edge with its bigger frame buffer.

I was WTF those 2 cards are completely different and of date to.
And i lolled at the framerate started @ 1:15 hmm 10 FPS difference.
And then later both cards did run the same, start @ 1:29..

@Thet3 the gtx480 was the best graphics card of its time thus making it the most wanted card which makes it cost more. the gtx570 is no the best graphics card on the market but is more advanced than the gtx480 so it is not as desired and was manufactured more easily which is why it costs less.

@ownsuallownsuall Actually the 480 has more Vram.. which makes it more wanted than the 570 in the high resolution monitors.. but imo.. if someone can afford a 480, they can probably just buy a 580.. which is about 25-30% faster and has the same Vram.

In this game I get an average of 120fps on my Geforce 8400 at 2560x1600, all settings maximum.
