  • @DidaGio. Thanks Tommaso. I appreciate that so much! I really love play "Darcy". Such a beautiful song!

    ~George~

  • i would love the tab for this song.

  • @Myownhero18. See the PM I sent to you.

    ~George~

  • I enjoyed your video very much! Not that easy of a song to play (for me anyway), and I can't sing at all. Good job! Thanks for posting it.

  • @GiffordSL. Thank yo so much. I love playing this song. Since posting this video, I have modified the way I play it to be more accurate to the way John Denver actually played it. Not to try and copy him, but to show others how John played it in case they want to learn it that way. Thanks again!

    ~George~

  • Do you have the chords/tabs for this, by any chance? Or did you just learn it by ear?

  • @jmr1068204. Some of it is by ear. I actually play it now a bit closer to the actual recording, but haven't had time to record it. I do have the tab. If you message me with your email, I'd be happy to send it to you.

    ~Geroge~

  • Excellent! That is such a great but sad song!

  • @simonspics1. Thanks! It is a very sad song. I've played it out at certain venues. Every so often I get a gasp, or look when I come to the part where he "puts a bullet through his brain". Lol!

    ~George~

  • @pickerman4 I can only imagine! I presume that really did happen that way? We had something similar happen here in Stuarts Draft,Va. nearly 30 years ago when local teenage son lost his father and couldnt handle it,and within a week took his own life! In the big picture its best not ask why these things happen, yet you still wonder?

  • About as close as you will get JD. Excellent job! Well done.

  • Thank you! Very nice of you and thanks for taking the time. I try to make each of John's recording as close as possible to his style, mostly as a challenge to me, but also to show the true beauty of his music. Though sometimes I have to change things up a bit to suit my voice.

    ~George~

  • Well, if you're going to redo this and refine it, you certainly don't have far to go! I give people credit for posting vids here, but many of the covers make me cringe...too many people don't sweat the details. Nicely done. Thank You.

  • Thank you so much! I love playing this song and at the time I recorded this, I didn't have have it completely refined. I will update soon.

    ~George~

  • Beautiful =] Best cover since Fretkillr's. I'm gonna try and learn from ya' sir ^^

  • Thanks so much! Yeah Fretkillr does an awesome job on this one. I plan on re-recording this song in the future as I have done some tweeking of the song to make it much closer to the version that John does in his later recordings. I also have a couple requests to do an instructional video on this one too. I will do that as soon as I finish an instructional on "I Guess He'd Rather Be in Colorado", and also have promises "This Old Guitar". I'll do this one right after those two.

    ~George~

  • dont b scared...sing it again like u mean it

  • Nah, I wasn't scared, although this was one of my early Youtube videos, so I was kind of new to it. I now play Darcy Farrow more accurately to John's version, and I will be re-recording this song, and will sing it "like I mean it". I'm also planning an instructional in the future as well..

    ~George~

  • beautiful, simply beautiful...

  • Thank you! And thanks for taking the time to watch.

    ~George~

  • Picking excellent, nice voice. I'm learning this one and have it down fairly well as John played it, but I like some of your variations. Very impressive job. Look forward to more!

  • Thank you so much! I'm glad you are playing it and have it down. It's a fun song to play. Yes, more are coming. I have a couple instructional videos I'm working on, and soon will be recording "Back Home Again".

    ~George~

  • Nice job. Talented fingers there!

  • Thanks, I appreciate you stopping by. This is a fun song to play.

    ~George~

  • superb

  • Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time.

    ~George~

  • that is exactly how JD played it. excellent guitar skills- I am hoping to be able to get this one down too. I am thinking it will take some time to really master this song, or at least do it some justice... Thank you

  • That is a wonderful compliment! If I could be half the the guitarist that John was, I'd be the happiest guitar player on earth! Lol! I've had a request or two to do a tutorial for this song. I just got done posting a tutorial for the song, "For Baby" by JD. Now I'm looking to do another. This one might be it. Since I recorded this one, I've changed this song slightly to make it even more accurate to the way John played it. We'll see how it goes!

    Thanks again,

    ~George~

  • very nice, like your guitar playing

  • Thanks. I appreciate it and for stopping by. This is one of my favorites to play.

    ~George~

  • Love it! the best cover on youtube! Please try and do a tutorial asap!

  • Thank you so much! That means a lot to me as there are so many talented musicians on YouTube! I've had requests for a tutorial for this song. I will be working on one, but it may be kind of complicated and will take some time to plan out. Thanks again!

    ~George~

  • Beautifully done my friend.

  • Thanks Greg. I appreciate your time and checking my vids out.

    ~George~

  • looking forward to the instruction video.......

  • It will be coming.

  • This is absolutely beautiful and an inspiration to watch. Thank you very much. I would be very interested in your instructional video. I've played for years and haven't been able to master this song. I truly look forward to your instruction!

  • Thank you very much! Things are quite busy right now, but the instructional video will be soon coming as soon as I prepare and record it.

    ~George~

  • HI George, you played beautifully better than the other videos. Can't wait for your improved version and the instructional so i can practise. Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks again. Takes lots of practice! In my case, lots and lots of practice. ;-)

    ~George~

  • Hi, love your version. Beautiful! I can't wait for your improved version and the actual tutorial video. More power to you and thanks for posting.

  • Thank you so much!! When I have some time I will post the improved version. Still need to prepare the tutorial video.

    ~George~

  • Another wonderful version of this song, sang and played exceptionally well.

I am also keen and interested to see instructional video Geoge, I can pick out some parts but can't seem to get the correct sound, so will keep practicing

    Alan

  • Thanks Alan! Very nice of you. I have recently improved this song to match the orginal version of John Denver. I will post it soon. I will also add this song to my growing list of instructional song requests. Stay tuned!

    ~George~

  • Another high 5 George! Thanks again:)

  • Coming from you, that's quite a compliment! Thanks for taking the time.

    ~George~

  • Great job. You have nailed the fingerpicking guitar. Better than other versions on YouTube. Do you have written tab notation of the fingerpicking pattern and chord progression you are playing? I am a beginner and would like to learn this song but can't figure it out from your video. This song is made to be played on my Martin.

  • Thanks Bob. It took hours of practice. I've been asked a couple times on how to play Darcy Farrow. I am planning on putting together an instructional video on Darcy Farrow. Similar to the one I did for Rhymes and Reasons. I agree, this song would sound great on a Martin. Which model do you have?

    ~George~

  • Sounds Absolutely Great! You've got the picking down perfectly! I'd be very interested to see that instructional video, I'd love to be able to play this one. I'm also a beginner, but I was able to learn This Old Guitar over a couple months, and I'd like to give this one a shot.

  • Thank you so much! All though this recording isn't totally accurate to the way John played it, it is pretty close. I recently corrected my version to be exactly the way John played it and I will be uploading an instructional video as soon as I get the one for Jim Croce's "These Dreams" finished...I promise!! Thanks for the interest. ~George~

  • beautiful job

  • Thank you!

  • brilliant cover, really enjoyed that

  • Thanks. I appreciate the time you took to watch.

    ~George~

  • Pickerman,

Thank you so much for posting this I had to come back for a rewatch.

    Peace,

    Darcey

  • You're quite welcome Darcey. I like repeat "customers". lol! I know how much you love this song.

    TTYL Darcey,

    ~George~

  • Excellent cover my friend.. One of my favourite JD tracks, thanks for posting it..

  • You are most welcome, and thank you for your nice comment. Although not well know outside the circle of JD fan, Darcy Farrow is one of my many favorites.

    Thanks again my friend.

    ~George~

  • Hey Pickerman,

Great song! Wish I could olay like that. Miss ya Dude!

  • Thank you Cloudy so much! Good to hear from ya! Miss ya too.

    TTYL, ~George~

  • great job i'm gonna learn it today thanks dude

    ~George~

  • Loved your cover. Didn't even notice the sump pump until I read your info. Great rendition of a great song.

  • Thank you for your compliment. I do love this song. Wonderfully written, and a joy to play.

    ~George~

  • may i say you play amazing. Your voice may not sound like john's did but you hear you got your heart in it when you sing and you got a good singing voice so +10, Thank you for your comment on my video (you say that the battle is over) i am glad i was able to use johns amazing song and combine it with those pictures. In my mind when i heard it i always think he had those things in mind while singing it. To bad he can't tell us anymore (but hey who knows maybe they receive youtube in heaven)

  • Thank you so much! This is probably my favorite song to play. I've always considered myself to be a much better guitarist than singer. Oh well, gotta do the best with what I've been given. (others reading this, check out Edwing2's video, "You Say That the Battle is Over". Great stuff!

    Thanks again. ~George~

  • Perfect fingerpicking !

  • Thank you my friend. I appreciate it. I enjoy your vidoes as well.

  • wow really nice guitarring!!!

  • Thanks! I do love playing this song.

  • wonderful version man!!! i love it

  • Thank you so much!

  • Very beautiful, the intro reminds me to 24 years of CS&N, nevertheless...perfect voice and you play the guitar wonderful, great fingerpicking technique! 5*****

  • Thank you so much! I love playing this song. One of my many JD favs.

  • Leonardo, thank you for sharing this video.

I agree with you. Pickerman, it sounds very good. Your voice is also very special for p.e. Irish songs, at least I hear that in it.

    You guitarplay is wonderful.

    Thanks!

    Roeleke

  • Thanks Roeleke. At the place I play at, a gentleman approached me and mentioned that I should try doing irish songs. Maybe I will. Thanks again.

  • So I am not the only one who is thinking that. I think it would be great if you did! Please let me know!

    Roeleke

  • Super. Perhaps a lesson on playing the intro?? Please

  • Thank you! Sure, I'll try putting one together.

  • Got to be one of the most beautiful guitar melodys of all time. Nice job.

  • Thanks. One time I was playing this at the joint where I play, and a lady gasped when I got to the lyric, "young Daddy in his pain put a bullet through his brain". lol

  • Gorgeous my friend very well done!

  • Thank you. It wasn't an easy song to learn, but once I got it down, it became one of my favorites to play!

  • Great job!! Glad you liked mine as well....

  • Thanks, and yes, yours is great. All reading this, check out Fuzzflxrs version!

  • AWWRIGHT, pickerman!! Great effort........I sang along, remembering most all the words. ( I sang harmony so's not to intrude too much on your vocal...) Thank you

  • Thank you so much. I love story songs like Darcy Farrow and others. To sing along with my songs is one of the best compliments. Thanks!

  • Have you ever heard that one about the guilty conscience: she couldn't walk past Simon Crutchfield's grave....And that's all I can remember!! You have to agree, that's a great line. Do you know it? Have you ever heard it?

  • Nope. Can't say that I have.

  • That was very nice pickerman. Easy to listen too. thanks.

  • You're very welcome, and thanks for nice words.
