@DeviousBetrayer - I use a thin synthetic brush. I paint down the white first, then paint the eyeline and black dot to make the shape of the eye. Then I color in the middle with whatever eye color just enough to leave a black edge. One more small circle for the pupil, then a small dot of white for light reflection (fakes the wet of the eye). Make sure you know exactly how you want the eye to look before committing to paint.
Wow, thank you for putting this up i'm thinking of getting a resin kit soon and had NO idea how to paint it and all the stuff needed. Thank you Very much, & nice video ^-^
You didn't airbrush this one, did you? Can you get the same effects you get with an airbrush with drybrushing? I have this really cool Lara Croft resin kit, and it's almost assembled, but than I gotta paint it, and I planning to do it by hand, but than I noticed all tutorials use airbrushes, and I was like; Hell no, I am not gonna buy an airbrush for this O_o Unless it's an absolute must...
@funGODfun - I airbrushed all the areas of skin for a flawless surface. I hand painted her clothes and camo pattern on her legs. Good airbrushes can range from $70 and up. You could try to dry brush but it's much easier to airbrush the surface where needed. I hope this helps. Nothing is impossible, but there are tools that make life easier. Saves you more time to make more models!
A $70 airbrush????! I live in Holland, and the cheapest airbrush I found here was like 200 euros or something O_o But if you say so, I suppose it's for the better.... Right now I'm working on my first kit ever, so I'll see how that'll work out. If it doesn't, I'll see if I can find a used airbrush somewhere for all the future kits I'm planning to buy :) Thanks for the help! <3
where did you get your supplies? I mean your drill (regular house hold drill or did you get one specific for this type of hobby) , metal rod etc. Did you use basic acryllics like from a craft store such as michaels?
I'm just curious because I just bought my very first resin model kit to try to make and I haven't a clue on what to do
@FantasmaLua - Standard drill, nothing special. Just made sure to use the correct size drill bit. And Michael's is exactly where I bought my acrylics from. :) Citadel and Games Workshop paints are also excellent but a tad more expensive but worth it.
@bladerj - I use acrylic paints and seal it with a matte or gloss coat enamel when I'm done. Make sure you clean the surface with soapy water, very important, to get the grease and oils off the material. :)
Great Video, im an artist and ive worked with all sorts of different mediums, ive never painted a resin model but recently ordered one to try. I wanted to ask, is airbrushing the best for fleshtone? also, what type of paint was used with the brush and if its anything 'special' where can i get it? thanks
putting a metal rod in to hold the head is a brilliant idea, im about to start painting my first resin kit of cammy going into a cannon spike, this has been really helpful thanks!
That website has been closed. Anyway you can post a cammy file on Pepurka veiwer the same program people use to make halo models or replicas? I'd be apreated.
Speaking of hot, did you check out that Samurai girl I built behind the Cammy pic in the beginning? HAWT! 0_0 Oh, and Megatron says, "Hi!", I mean... uh---.
I'm surprised you put it all together before painting. Some areas would be easier to paint like the green outifit, without worry about paint crossing over on to the legs. But maybe that is just me.
All the flesh was sprayed with gloss enamel and I used acrylic paint, so any spill over would be easily wiped off. I filled gaps, glue pieces and sanded areas to be seamless. This was done prepaint so the surface would be immaculate. Having done as many models as I have in the past, painting the assembled model was actually easier. :)
You can get individual sheets of sandpaper from your local hardware store. Get one sheet of medium grit and a fine grit and make sure it's wet/dry, wetting the sandpaper will polish as it sands. :) Cut off little sections as needed.
How do you paint the eyes?
