  • Okay, you have solid taste in guitars, tone, and tunes. Such a great song choice! I can hear Rod wailing away.. "you shake just like a willow tree.."

  • awesome loved it!

  • dude thats ridiculous, this is probly the best demo/jam ive ever seen on youtube, love that tone and youre vibe is right in the pocket,,,,rock out with your cock out,we are not worthy,,,,,(bows to you)

  • Great job!! It would be cool if you did a lesson/breakdown of the song cuz that was a hell of a cover

  • @DRJVancouver lol. Beck used a Gibson Les Paul on Truth. Marshall Supa Fuzz, Vox AC-30 and a Gibson Les Paul. Live, it was Marshalls, but still the Supa Fuzz and Les Paul. There are a ton of photos on the net verifying this.

  • @leeyoungun

yes but not an sg lol.....read before replying

  • @DRJVancouver lol. Give up, man. I don't even get what you're trying to prove here. The guy's playing is spot on. Again, you implied that Jeff Beck used a Strat on "Let Me Love You" off the Truth album. You also said "That Gibson". Since when is an SG not a GIbson??? You've probably never even heard the original track before!!! The guy definitely got damn close to the original tone. lol! And before you start going on like a loon about P90s ...THINK BEFORE REPLYING. LOL

  • I love your playing and tone! wow

  • Sounds great!

    Subbed!

  • Ok so i just listened to the original recording on Truth and your tone is by far better.

    Kudos to you my friend.

If you could say, what are your amp settings?

  • @jsrnash12 Totally agree!

  • Sg junior, 2nd coolest guitar in my opinion. It would be even cooler in red.

  • Old school raunch!

  • Lots of reasons why I love this video: Jeff Beck, Marshall amplification, Gibson guitar... Perhaps the main reason is you clearly love playing. Ain't guitar great!

  • Beautiful ........How did you get the backing track ?

  • Loved it!

  • You are a tone master. Shows here one pickup is enough. Had a chance to buy an SG jr cheap from an old guy selling off his equipment but passed on it.... now I am very sorry. ( I did buy a '73 Jazz Bass, ''69 Country Gent, and a '79 SG but now regret not getting the SG Jr after seeing what it can do)

  • extremely well done. the guitar looks like my 64 junior. my guitar teacher put the tremolo unit on it in early 1965. my parents traded it for an sg custom in january of 1966. I wish is still had it. maybe that was mine from central pa. anyway, exceptional job

  • Whats with editing so we can't see the guitar??????

  • @Tryintoplayguitar7 Sorry for that, but I thought everyone who is interested knows what a Gibson SG Jr looks like, and this is a live representation of its tone with an old Marhall and an OCD.

  • Sounds great. Is the Marshall set clean?

    How about the OCD?

I tried an OCD and I thought it was over the top but this clip sounds great.

Maybe my Paul has too hot a pickup and was ruining the quality?

  • @summershark The amp is set to clean, the thing with the OCD is to set the drive low, OCD volume up.

  • @Gurbuz1953 I see. Volume up, distortion down on OCD? So you are using it like Beck,May and Page used their 'trebleboosters and colorsounds and tonebenders; just to hit front end a little harder?

Amp is clean? on 4 or 5 or so?

I'm going to have to give an OCD another chance. I have a plexi and metal panel and am looking for a good fuzz without spending 1500 on a Klon.

I used a checkerboard with rolas for 20 years and was ok.

I then got a 69 cab with real pre rola greenbacks. HUGE difference.

  • @summershark Wow, you've got some serious tone already...Yeah, try the OCD just like that, roll the tone to 11 o'clock, drive to 9 o'clock, volume 12 with the switch in UP position..Altho the down pos is really sweet too. I had my Marshall on 3 on this vid. Its a 50 watt PA model made for keyboards (1971) with the real simple hand-wired circuit board. But the cab is really important , as you mention.

  • marsh amplifiers ... made in florida

  • @caulinrocker1 This Marsh was made in England back in 1971

  • From one SG jr lover to another - amazing stuff dude! Really enjoyed your playing :-)

  • Old-school? INDEED YOU ARE: the good old school! One of the best videos I saw here on youtube - there´s no doubt.

  • @searchin4music Thank you so much..With these old style Marshalls, you dont have to turn them up real loud, the 4x12 cab is essential, half of the tone!!! Then all you need to do is play around with volume and tone of the guitar to manipulate the tone(s)!!

  • thanks

  • ta

  • are you in minnesota?

  • Great video ! Love your tone ! where did you get the backing track? i`m huge JB fan and i`m using your video to teach myself this song ! I hope you don`t mind ..

  • Beautiful sound!! Would love to have a classiv vintage amp like this.

  • Nice tone! I like it !

  • Nice Tone! Jeff would approve!!

  • I think this tone is as close to perfection as humanly possible.

  • sweet tone.wickid playin.pure joy in heaven toneland.=). take care of that amp dude its got that awsome awsome sound.

  • right on!its nice to hear somebody good on here -old 50 watt marshalls rule!!!

  • A great guitar, a great amplifier and a Little Big Man!!

  • I had fun watching you look like you were having time of your life ^___^

  • You are better than the original guitar solo. You are good

  • nice tone...fantastic ...love it

  • There's some serious tone going on there! So great to see someone not only playing great with dynamics but also using their tone and volume controls! Fantastic stuff sir.

  • @jonmitchell1968 Thank you so much- I am really old-school.

  • where did you get that strap? <3

  • @ChineseR0ck :-)) That was a Levy's strap I found years ago.

  • @tonkamineits really nice! thank you!

And congrats, you have an amazing rig!

  • @ChineseR0ck I thank you, cheers!

  • @tonkamine that looks like jim morrison's belt

  • I love that marsh cabinet lol :P

  • cool man. Keep uploading videos, your great!

  • nice tone man, but where did you get the backing track?

  • @Beck10g It was from a guitar mag cd.

  • Are you a professional musician or do you just have a lot of dispoable income?

  • @philbio66 I pay the rent by playing live, my friend..

  • @tonkamine

Good for you. I'm glad to know there are some well paid musicians out there.

  • Check out my take on this song :)

  • You're really having fun! =p

Nice playing and nice tone =)

  • Yeah, you got it alright - lovely tone, very Beck-esque licks, good blues-rock timing & feel - that solid-body guitar sound, that's what we all sat upright for when it first came out - the pure electric tonality, the juicy blues licks, the virtuoso style. Hey, do you do any Richie Blackmore, a la Deep Purple Mark I?

    Oh, that's sweet...!

  • @SupernalOne Oh yes, I'm one of you my friend, back in the time, the electric guitar was such a mystery, now we all know about all of it, which is kind of a drag..But still, I get the kicks from them old guitars....they still hold the magic..New guitars-however wonderful-such as the PRS, Suhr....seem so soullesss to me, knowing the old stuff...Anyhow, cheers !!!!

  • yes, back when the tubes flashed blue out the back of the amp head, and the amp itself sounded like it was about to explode - guitarists were supercool high priests of the mystery of the universe, risking death by electrocution to bring us the sacred rhapsodies and teach us what life was REALLy about - makes me think of shortwave radio at night and satellites going by overhead, and acid trails - well, good on you, brother, for keeping the faith - Salut!

  • ça m'a donné envie de travailler ce morceau !

    super !

c'est les voisins qui doivent être content (c'est pas le p'tit ampli 5 watts !)

  • I'm young, being only 16 years old, but I to play blues and stuff like that. I may like a lot of modern stuff too but nothings like sitting back, relaxing and playing an old blues tune every now and then, awesome playing and gear by the way.

  • Dug it, Brother!

  • Awesome, AWESOME tone and playing. I just picked an OCD pedal and I'm looking forward to lot of fun playing plugged into my SG 61RI. Question about the riff on Let Me Love You...I'm trying to watch your hands but your left is cut out of view for a lot of the clip. Can you give some pointers on the main intro riff and are you in standard tuning? Thanks!

  • Is that Carlos Santana playing a Jeff Beck song with Jimi Page's licks??? (Hope you take that as a compliment because it was meant as one!)

I could imagine watching you all night in a club with a smile just as big. Fantastic Tone dude.

Btw where did you find the backtrack of that song? Is it downloadable?

  • Very tastful! I enjoyed it all. I like the dusty, faded and old school look, and that goes for what you are wearing as well. It's like they found you in an old barn somewhere and didn't even bother to dust you off. Your licks are equally faded, dusty and old school. You find those in a barn as well? lol Very very cool. I like the ear to ear grin as well. It's good to see a guitarist enjoying what he is playing instead of worrying about his ego.

Have you tried cleaning and lubing the nut?

  • @1971SuperLead Wow, thanks Superlead, I do come from the fifties, am quite old,but still going on strong with the guitar stuff, I'll probably die while playing it :-)

  • Ha,that kicks ass!! nice tone and playing!!!! Except now I want an OCD! D'oh...

  • I had one of those guitars in 1967 and traded it in on my ES 335 TDC along with all the money I made working the summer, fliping burgers at White Castle...

  • you playing is fantastic

  • Nice tone and nice playing mate.

  • Amazing. Fantastic equipment and playing.

  • Marsh Amplification!

    (-:

    That was fantastic.

My son is taking lessons from me and I found a black Epi SG Junior on craigslist for him. I think that I was more exited than him.

I love real Gibson P-90's. Great video.

  • woman tone

  • You have a whammy on that guitar for a reason

  • @daveiusi Thanks but no thanks..Gibbo Vibrola is the worst design-instant out of tune!!

  • @daveiusi its used to stretch the strings out when you first put them on ;)

  • Great tone and playing but your sister called, she wants her outfit back LOL

  • @bsuite123 Thanx a lot-have a listen to Hendrix's 'If 6 Was 9!!'

  • WOW!

    That was amazing man!

The fact that you look like you are having so much fun makes it even better!

    Keep rockin'

  • Man, I commented a long time ago but I always enjoy coming back to this video!!!!! Bravo my friend, as a Marshall man I must say you do us all proud and thanks goes out to Mr Beck for such a killer song! killer tone ,playing and groove what else can I say!!!

  • hello my friend! this is a peruvian guy blown up with your vid. congratulations!!! i have one question...who is playing the bass?

  • @betoacc Hello and thanks so much. I dont know who plays the bass, it was a backtrack from a guitar mag CD.

  • Hey lovely tone and playing, Ive recently discovered the sheer genius of those early Jeff Beck recordings, and is it possible if you could post a tutorial/lesson on how to play this song.

  • Dear Friend, great song!!! You can transcribe the intro riff od this song?, it's amazing!!! or tell me where I can find the tab. of this song!!!Thanks.

  • it is exactly the same sound...!!

  • Duuude that is a sweet SG. White finish, p90 and even a vibrato to boot. Nice tone

  • What scales did Jeff use for this song? It sounds like a mix of major and minor pentatonic but whenever it goes into the more major sounding stuff it sounds abit different than a standard major scale.

  • Fucking fantastic!

  • Niiiiiiiiiiiccccee.

  • hi Ive said it before say it again great playing , the best tone ever... I am looking into the fulltone OCD ... wich version do you have there seems to be 4?

  • @edudut I think mine is the second version. Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it.

  • Now that's rock n' roll!

  • Right On! You do a great JB...killer tone!

  • Hi you have this down brother ..awesome sound . I love JB and you look like you love playing it too. I have the 64 sg junior a 73 Marshall 50 watt now I need the OCD.. wich version do yoU have here? your tone is fucking incredible!!!! I have to try to sound that good coz I never willbe able to play like you ...but If I had a bit of that fabulous tone I might wet my own pants!!!!

  • Absolutely showed how to work it....

    Just great man!!

  • vintage i love the style :) i wish i was back in the day to have all this and bring it back to the future :)

  • Loved it ,great guitar tone . And close ,but it's good you have your own phrasing. style.

  • Nailed it bro. Whew nice job.

  • Good job. I love your playing.

  • OldSchool, classic... right on!!

  • Great tribute to Jeff Beck's "Truth" era playing. The tone is awesome; furthermore, really nice playing. The OCD sounds great!

  • Absolutely spot on. Nice rig. JB would no doubt be proud of your rendition.

  • this is the best version i've ever heard.

  • Your playing is extremely inspiring, bro. Not only that, you have quite possibly the best guitar tone of anyone on YouTube I've ever head.

Hats off to you, sir. Jeff Beck would be proud to hear this.

  • @LordSupro Not everyone on youtube has a plexi

  • Great tone and playing man!!!

  • I have this same model but Epiphone SG Jr and im getting intonation problems (not the tuning) and the height of the string can't get that low i wonder if this is a gibson trademark of having the string a little bit high... i maxed the limit and still feels high. Anyone can advice me?

  • @PieroMtMz

Your Epiphone and a real SG like the one being played in this video are worlds apart. Still, take it to a shop and have it professionally set up. Better yet befriend a local guitarist that can show you how to set your guitar up yourself.

  • What model cab is that in the video? What drivers in it...

    I got a Bugera 1960 head with Marshall 1960A 4X12...

Someday hopefully soon I will gel like you in this video...

  • It is a 1971 model 1960 slanted cab with 25 watt greenbacks.

  • holy crap man, you can play :)

    love it

  • I keep coming back to this video... you're an amazingly soulful player with great tone, dynamics and chops.

  • damn takes me back to 67/68

close my bloody eyes n i see beck on stage at the grande ballroom

its a warm june night n i'm fukin 12 years old once again. first concert of my young happy life. when i die dats where i wanna go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hey bro.

    :)

    great amp

i want buy a plexi too

    but which...

i couldnt decide between the 1987x and the jtm45

which one would you prefer for AC/DC sounds and Classic/Hard/Blues Rock?

    Cheers

  • @SoloDallasFan i would recomend the jtm, but if you want more versatility for hard rock get the 1987x

  • Comment removed

  • I highly recommend a JTM45 for AC/DC tones. I have a 1966 JTM45 that is awesome! You can search "LongWay" or "GGR" to hear me playing it with my band. They're both AC/DC covers.

  • lucky bastard

  • I really like the feel. The tone, note choice, change in dynamics. It's like you're whispering sweet nothings into the guitar then getting down and dirty right after.

  • sweet.....very sweet...nice axe too

  • Awesone tone dude...what was your volume level at??

  • Thanks.Marshall was on 2, OCD vol 11, and I played with the vol-tone of the SG too.

  • WOW!!!!!

  • Great tone there. I have a 74 non master that I just got an old 1990 8X10 cab for. Ever played through one of those?? Those low watt speakers in it just scream for mercy. I have a nice 63 LP Junior that just spanks it nicely. You are extremely talented. It is nice to hear someone with such a nice touch, very nice dynamic playing.

  • Wow, never played thru an 8x10!! I'd love to hear yr LP Jr thru yr rig..

  • YEAH! Nice rich tone and very tasteful playing to a masterpiece of a backing track! 'Enjoyed! Thanks......

  • marshall and p90s=paradise!

  • very good

  • oeeew, a marsh cab :D

  • good tone. nice finger vibrato.

  • sweet respectful jam, killer tone, you do the song justice

  • Great Job ! on a hard song

  • MARSH

  • :), yea, it is a '71 cab, been thru hell..

  • groovy!!!!! great job, saludos from Mexico!!

  • Hi jroldan6!!

  • Great sound! good playing too...

    like the single-coil sound there...

  • great tone and playing. tasty and subtle. that's experience and style. i also like the jump cuts...

  • very sweet! nice tone and touch!!!! never really cared for the OCD but you make it work with your rig obviously!!!!!!

  • Thanx...it is kinda harshsy, prefer Fulldrive II, the old version, the blue box!!!

  • Ive had one of those for years. nice pedal!

  • Nice tone and playing man!

  • Parabéns !!!

    Muito bom .

  • how is the tremelo?

  • Useless-thats why I bypassed it.

  • How cranked is you Marshal? Small room, big stack, good tone?

  • Volume was about 2 actually, not cranked at all.

  • So you just put a wraparound where the original bridge was, I see, nice playing.

  • now THAT is a nice tone! awesome playing too man. nic to see someone smiling while they are playing.

  • Damn, it sounds like you're using an MKII fuzz on here, but you're not, are you?

  • No, I only use the Fulltone OCD here.

  • Thats awesome! i LOVE your tone!

  • your guitar sound great man

  • super cool!!!!!!p90s ....best hard core pickup of all time .....have you ever tried a keekey fuzz head...vs THE OCD.....

  • damn anyone know where i can get tabs for this song, btw awsome fuckin tone man

  • I just love the way your smiling the entire time your playing the guitar! LOL you know thats some insane tone! I wish i had that set up. You Evil Evil Man, INSANE TONE!

  • oh, I'd probably just install some sprezels since I like maestros so much, but that seems like a good alternative

  • fucking amazing, and btw, why did you string it so that you can't use the tremolo

  • The trem ruins the tuning on these Jrs.

  • Awesome !

  • good stuff

  • real music by real musicians

  • Tonka-this is the best guitar vid on youtube IMO. Great playing, beautiful tone. You inspired me to break out my '76 JMP 50 watt. I forgot what an incredible sound that thing puts out.

I was wondering how loud/what settings you are using in the vid. How much credit goes to the OCD for your tone? Thanks.

  • I have a reissue of the Marshall JTM 45 with a Tall Vintage

    4x12 Cabinet with Celestion Greenbacks.

With a tone bender in front it produces a sound with many

overtones, but I have to turn down the presence,'cause it

has way too much of it.But I love this amp and the way it

sounds. The 1987x would probably be warmer. . .or what

would You recommend ? Greets Gordon

  • Hey man , now that's great playing with an awesome tone.

I've heard quiet some good old SG's,but Your's is the best.

I bet You are using an old Marshall 1987 x with EL 34 tubes

the 50 watts plexi. It doesn't get any better than this !!!

You've got the ultimate sound. Admiration and Greets,

    Gordon

  • Just great tone for this kind of jamming. I think it´s just fantastic to see that there still people who prefer dynamic playing instead of all compressed sound lacking any fingerprints whatsoever. Thank you for this, and yeah, your guitar gear looks fine...
