Did I hear a call for Grumpy Michal(sic)? Shazam! Here I am! Look, as Mvonhobe points out, comtemporary artist bring their modern perspective to bear. What outrages me is when their interpretation trashes a great work, e.g., the Messiah. Take for example, the trumpet part: it is suppose to be exultant, triumphant. I don't get that all in this performance. Anyhow, by all means, let the comtempo artists do their thing, but on an original composition, and not on a great classic!

Just as King David brought fresh, new ways to worship the King of Kings to pass, so do contemporary artists with a worship anointing bring fresh relevance and their joy and interpretation to praise. Not better, just different. And just as then, there will be grumpy Michals who feel the need to criticize, rather than remain quietly content with what they're narrow comfort zone dictates.
