@Djnuttty My guess: because they rose in a wave of (pop)metal, therefor associated with acts which are hated by metalheads for other reasons (the "whiney" watered down metal of Linkin Park, or Limp Bizkit (major flaw: their vocalist)). That most grooving metalbands remained (semi-)underground didn't help either, hence Korn became a scapegoat.
(Fortunately they werent a part of the hair metal wave, some of those bands shouldn't have survived the 80'ies... I'm looking at you Bon Jovi)...
@Djnuttty I listen to stuff that's heavier and technical than KoRn but I still think they're awesome and unique (because of the bass and lead vocalist, as well as the fact they CAME UP with Nu-Metal in the first place).

I also listen to quite a bit of dubstep. It just has to be good music. Their latest stuff is shit not because its metalstep but because its shit. In fact everything after 'take a look in the mirror' has been shit.Whether its to do with Heads departure i dont know

@Detatipaced The new dubstep stuff they have done is pretty awesome in my opinion. The three singles they have released have pleased me and yes, people hated them before the dubstep album. And it is like an experiment, it's not like complete dubstep. It obviously has korn mixed with dubstep.

@Djnuttty My guess: because they rose in a wave of (pop)metal, therefor associated with acts which are hated by metalheads for other reasons (the "whiney" watered down metal of Linkin Park, or Limp Bizkit (major flaw: their vocalist)). That most grooving metalbands remained (semi-)underground didn't help either, hence Korn became a scapegoat.
(Fortunately they werent a part of the hair metal wave, some of those bands shouldn't have survived the 80'ies... I'm looking at you Bon Jovi)...

@Djnuttty I listen to stuff that's heavier and technical than KoRn but I still think they're awesome and unique (because of the bass and lead vocalist, as well as the fact they CAME UP with Nu-Metal in the first place).
They kick the ass of most of the samey poser stuff out today (Y)

@sephiroth2099 Well you posed the question to me so let me answer the question. I have no problems with experimenting. I actually listen to a lot of electronic music. Prodigy are my favourite band. I also listen to quite a bit of dubstep. It just has to be good music. Their latest stuff is shit not because its metalstep but because its shit. In fact everything after 'take a look in the mirror' has been shit.Whether its to do with Heads departure i dont know

@sephiroth2099 some of the best thrash bands started to sound kinda like korn when Nu Metal got really big... some of Slayer and Sepultura's later albums sound kinda like Korn.. but most people won't admit it... if anything Korn helped preserve thrash...along with Pantera

@Thanos700 Korn saved "heavy" music, it was slowly dying and being replaced by other genres, when Korn came out and became mainstream, other Korn sounding bands came out (Linkin Park, Disturbed, Slipknot etc) thus "heavy" music was saved. Let's hope that this Korn's new album manages to bring them back on top

I think if Jonathan Davis would just quit sounding like a singing idiot we could hear some traditional Korn. They say they want to go back to their roots? The riffs are awesome. But Jon ruins it, hardcore. That's the difference between old and new Korn.

@zerosoma33 I agree with you there, I was born in '97 (you were right about the teenage kid part) but i miss the days when the word terrosim wasn't daily use and MTV played music...the little bit of music MTV plays is that new Rap/Techno queer sh-t...agreed I do like the old Korn better (Issues is the greatest Korn CD IMO) but there new stuff isn't the worst...but im kinda used to my music changing over time...hell, i used to listen to death metal now i like pop punk its kinda odd
