I cant' kill this esper, when it gets to his last hp it casts so many spell one after the other and all my characters die or have no time to heal. It's so freaking annoying! and my bf telling me how to do it is more annoying!
isn't it that thing is hard the Zodiarc I'm here now trying to find ways to kill it but I don't have all the stuff other people have. So did you ever kill it?
i've got every rare, i've defeated the endboss, my party averaged level is 66, i've have every esper defeated and every hunt completed except ZODIARK and YIAZMAT, can someone say how i can kill them?
If you have tournesol (or whatever it spelled) Zodiac spear and Ultima Blade then you have no problem defeating them, but it'll take a while, be sure that you have an item that gives you holy element while fighting yazmat, and set up garmet so that someone with Ultima blade hits other chars. And when you're fighting Zodiarc at level 70 its pretty easy, and if you got a party of lvl 99 then its nuthing to be feared for ;)
i beat this focker at 20% only using drain spell cause than he becomes immune to physical and magic attack took me a hour if he hadnt that imunity i would beat him in a sec using demon shield black mask it absorb dark so u can survived the darkja attack not always though
agreed... he's no challenge as long as you use a quickening prior to getting him to one-fourth of his health... otherwise you're in a physical/magic barrier mess... btw scathe works wonders if you end up getting stuck in that
Wats not good with chars using scathe is that u cant cast while they are casting it >_> so he usualy kills me b4 i even get to cast any heal spells T.T
This guy is easy 1- get one of your weak player s to walk solo up to him(and get killed) 2- then bring in ur buffed 3 soldiers have 1 healer two attackers when hes life reaches 30-25% finish him with quickenings u can remove 1 of ur players and add another one with full mp if he doesnt die with one quickening ps. black masks help and shellga is a must he only done darkja once on my main fighters amd my average party was level 74.
When he gets down to 30% he becomes immune to physical damage, and his attacks ignore black masks at that point, if you want to finish him off spam Zalera's condemnation
never used the espers throughout the game he gets immune to physical damage i beleive at 20-25% depends on ur style of fighting me i found quickenings(especiallly at the start of the game) were usefull so im used to quickenings. I think espers were a letdown in this game an1 agree?

Im on my second run and ive found a better plan-get strong weapons and armour fast u can get zodiac spear after tomb of raithwall and save the queen are a drop from some enemy cant remember also u can get formalhut at the antilon hunt. Maximillian u can get once u go to sochen and platinum armour(47) is a drop from baknamy in the furthest woods. Getting magic armour early is a bit difficult though.
you can get Save the Queen from an enemy in the Nabreus Deadlands, it's like some sort of zombie... but yeah, when i've finished my first run around the game (i'm only at Balfonheim (1st time)) i will try these things you have suggested. ONe other thing, you said that it is possible to get fomalhaut from the Antlion hunt, this is probably true, but what is the antlion hunt and when can i start it? thanks
HEY THIS GOES TO ANYONE WHO HAS EVER THOUGHT ABOUT FIGHTING ZODIARK...1 ON 1...good luck ur gonna need it.i tried it...and i totally won...too bad i ran out of 36 elixers..thats the bad part..but the good part i was only lv 65 with Vaan. i had masamune, exclaibur, torunesol, and a whole bunch of other stuff. expecially the zodiac spear will help out alot.

ye i kno, getting him down to low hp is easy the paling is hardest part, but you should try this before the paling when his hp is low try quickening on him, trust after the quickening is done you'll get few hits in before the paling, then it just opal ring and bio.
More tips: Equip Argyle Armlets or the Ribbon to make your characters immune to Blind. This was really the only status effect I had to worry about the whole time. Not wasting time with Esuna/Esunaga really saves time in this battle. You'll also want a Self: Bubble gambit set up.
4. When Zodiark erects a physical and magical paling, cast Shock off a party member equipped with Mirror Mail. This will bounce the spell off the character and through Zodiark's Reflect. He should go down in just a few hits.
Tips: Don't bother with any status spells except Hastega and Protectga.
2. Equip either Black Mask or Demon Shield, preferrably the Demon Shield, to absorb Dark spells. It gives great physical evade. Equip Circlets for your helm.
3. Equip your strongest weapons (1h or 2h depending on whether you equipped Demon Shields or Black Masks).
It's amazing how this fight is so random. Just beat zodiark with everyone surviving Darkga, both kill and blind effect. Earlier he got lucky and wiped me out all the time...

i beat him so fast, my level were 87,86,86,80,80,80, i only had one black mask i equipped it on vaan, and then went in with only vaan, he didn't get killed, then two others came in, then kept on attacking him, when his hp is starting to go down, before the paling comes i started quickening then after i had chance to still attack, then he put up the paling with a tiny bit of life left, then i used opal ring and bio his dead.
It is not so nessesary - darkja has 50% chance of instant kill - entering with 1 char doesnt make mush difference IMHO. 1 second for arise, thats all.
The main priblem in the beggining is his lvl spells (like lvl 2 sleep). So the best is to farm level till the 73 or 83. I also recomend to buy 6 black masks, so your party will absorb Zodiark's Darkja.
Its quite good to have 2 heavy tanks, 2 support chars and 2 mages - so you'll got 2 equal teams.
amazing... that was the esper that i need to get lol i got to the area and then ambushed by loads of monsters... my people are level: vann - 83 Fran - 75 Balthier - 70 Penelo - 85 Basch - 43 Ashe - 17 =[ well thats what i got there with but died =*[ and that special is amazing

First of all, you're gonna have to level up at least 20 levels more. I'm level 82 and I struggle on this boss.

I have him.
At level 72.
I'm now fighting yiazmat.
And i defeated the hell wyrm with 23 ultimate attacks of Zodiark and 1 excalibur and 2 holy lances.

i thought this battle was way to easy to be the "hardest esper", the really only difficult part is getting there. i beat him in like half the time.

I had to end up bouncing spells of of myself to get him down the rest. Because I didn't have the item that let's you cast spells through reflect.

I suppose most of this fight is luck.
But main problem is to finish 20 last percent of his hp. I used opal ring to pierce Zodiarc's reflect.
