He's wrong here. The guitar 's tone nob works as a low pass filter but wah adds a notch on the EQ and you can change the frequency with your foot...

@TheGumboVariator By half cocked I think he means having it pushed down only half way ( or pretty much in any position except all the way up or down) instead of all the way in the treble or bass. It creates a really neat sound.

@CalenCoffman I wouldn't recommend excessive neck bending. Slash had a little incident where his guitar neck pretty much exploded and hit him in the face while he was doing neck bends.

Although a little one here and there doesn't hurt. :D

It REALLY isn't good for your guitar, I've seen broken necks because young kids see these rock stars do it. But the rock stars can do it because they can just buy a new guitar. You shouldn't encourage people to do this. And also, a wah doesn't even come close to a tone knob. Sorry that i'm being such an asshole. :P

@nach06800 it's a little late for xmas but I'll answer anyway: a wah wah just does one effect and an effects pedal usually does many. Effects pedals don't usually do wah unless you see a foot pedal on it like the wah has. -Neal
