  • Yes thanks once again, I have another question for you when I use the delay, as I add more wet sound with my expression pedal, I loose overall volume, any ideas?

  • @amcenteggart ok that one I don't know sorry. If I still had the GM2 id try it on my unit if i could duplicate; but not an option anymore. sry...

  • I note when you set up your volume pedal you set the curve 35%, 50%, 100% when I do this the lowest volume setting on the global in = -51db which makes the pedal only really work over a fraction of its travel I expected the swrrp of the pedal to only control a few db's? Am I missing something? I'm using an Ernie JR and it's calibtrated OK

I appreciate you don't have this rig anymore BTW!

  • @amcenteggart yes i know what you mean I had to raise those settings a lot higher to get a better sweep. can't remember the exact number tho. try 50-75-100 or even as high as 75-90-100 basically first one is the highest u can set it that it mutes the guitar last one is 100% middle one to your taste. I think at 1 point I even tried 100% in the middle position. can't remember if it was any better. there is a lot of trial/error in the process...

  • I'm not sure if I understand your question.... Are you asking if you can turn on multiple effects with only one button? If so yes just assign them all to the same cc/mod. If not not I dunno what you mean... Also keep in mind that I don't have acces to a gcp/g major anymore... So if I can't remember, there is no way for me to double check...

  • @ljbarbeau I was asking if I could switch different effects on within the same block, it's OK, TC came back and said no way!

    Cheers anyway.

  • Just another question I'm using the bottom buttons for patches and the rest for instant access, if I had for instance my clean patch number 1 could I use instant access buttons to add two or three modulation effects say chorus or flange or univibe or can I only turn on the Mod module with the instant access button?

  • Brilliant thanks I was using a TEC 21 controller previously thats why a lot of the settings in the G Major are changed as I just used the Tec 21 and 1 x expression pedal.

Now I need to set up two pedals and get the TC settings re configured, thanks for all your help.

  • Hello and thanks for the tutorial, it's brilliant, I've got my bottom row of presets sorted, | just need to understand how to set up 1-8 for the stomp box type mode i.e 1 = mod, 2 = comp etc....Can you help?

  • @amcenteggart read the small characters at the end of the video. I actually explain that in there. I forgot to mention it in the video thats why I explain it in the end..

basically i set my CCs from 1 to 8 on my gcp(as seen on the video). and I make them match what I want to control in the g-major 2...(missing from the video)

  • @amcenteggart Cheers everything is now taking shape, I note that the volume pedal (EB JR's) is only btinging in the volume in its last third of travel.

I've re calibrated and its the same with both my pedals, also it doesn't make any odds where I have the EB internal switch?

  • @DKxSLIPKNOTxDK To use a preamp you either need a power amp or power side of a head amp if you're going into a cab. If your going into a mix channel or line input of a recording rig a DI will do

  • Have been looking at this demo, and I dig your setup, but I was wondering wether it is possible to tap the G-major in and out, by the GCP's instant access? In other words: You have mod, delay, comp, etc. labeled on your switcher, are those G-major effects that you can turn on and off on the fly?

    Thanks

  • @ssaxelsen yup exactly. they call it stomp box mode. basically bottom row switch between presets. 2 top rows turns on/off a specific fx within that preset and finally the ernie ball pedals control a specific parameter within 1 or+ fx. you can also turn gcx's loops on and off from the gcp. if desired you can also assign one of those switch to completly bypass the g-major 2. but I'm pretty sure I explain all of that in the video already... don't i?

  • Svar på denne video ... @ljbarbeau Very good. Maybe you did, and was just confused! ;) I completely understand how to turn your stomp boxes on and off, as they each are in a loop on the GCX, but I was not able to figure out wether or not I can have eg. a tremolo and a delay effect (both provided by the G-Major 2) on in a preset, and for instance turn off the tremolo, in that specific preset?

Thanks for the reply, btw! ;)

  • @ssaxelsen ho ok I see what you don't understand. forget about the GCX.. If i only had a Gmajor2 and the GCP I would still control it in stomp box mode. its just a name for one of the mode. I don't actually control stomp boxes.. the GCP sends midi signals to the G major in a way to control every fx separately... that way it emulates having stomp boxes even though ur using a multi effect in reality. so yes you can turn every one of them on/off from the touch of a button.

  • @ljbarbeau . Amazing... I appreciate it a lot, I'm a singer and lead guitarist, and I've up till now been doing the inevitable tap dancing, so this is all new to me. So thanks a lot for being so thorough!! nice setup by the way! :)

  • where did you get the pedalboard?

  • I'm debating btwn the gmajor 2 and the gsystem. Would you say without a doubt that the g system is worth the extra money?

  • @pissedoffsol

yes you can loop in other pedals and analog distortion into your presets with the g system, Also take a look at the nova system, waaaaaay under rated pedal.

  • Hi You have the G-system? one question With this system you can control also the Triaxis?

  • @Japsem Yup no problem. Although I never tried the continuous control. I just don't use it...

  • @ljbarbeau as far as the way you run the 1/4 inch cables. Do you run the g major into one of the gcxs loops to be able to bypass it when you dont want to use the g major on one of your presets?

  • @18266609 I never bypass the g-major 2. so I personally don't. but many people do. its a matter of choice. when I had this setup I was using the g-major noise gate. so it was on all the time. no need to bypass it.

  • @ljbarbeau o ok. that makes sense. is there a setting on the g major that can bypass all its fx. say you didnt wanna use anything on the g major and just wanted a couple pedals from the gcx on . could you bypass it without running it through a loop on the gcx? i lknow the lexicon has a bypass option. thanks for post. much appreciated.

  • Thanks for posting...this helped me a lot haha

  • @bobguitar981 Yep one for volume one for everything else. If u mean the pedals itself they are both volume pedals. (6166)

  • How do I get the GCP to select the user presets? When I choose the presets on the GCP and go over 100 it just scrolls back to number 1 factory preset and avoids the user preset? Why does it do that?

  • @D0ffy You need to set the program bank to user under Midi menu. If you still want to use some factory preset either save them to user bank or use midi mapping. See p.18 in the manual...

  • So I figured out that you may be wrong about something. You don't have to calibrate the pedals through the G Major Menu - that calibration procedure is just for whatever you plug directly in the back of the G-major's expression jack input. In reality the GCX PBoard should have this same calibration procedure for the pedals you plug into the GCX PBoard itself...but it doesn't. The TC unit only see the 0-127 coming from the GCX unit. If it is off - too bad. That's one prob with the GCX board.

  • Hey there. Just wondering if you could tell me: Will the G Major 2 power the Ground Control Pro via midi? Or do I need to get a power supply for it too?

  • @zaulkin not u need phantom power for that. both my GCX and my triaxis have this option but the g-major isnt. but the ground control pro comes with a power supply from the factory..

  • how do you wire it to use the gcx and the g major? also where do you use the bbe maximizer in your system?

  • @JpZ828 midi to gcx then to g major. bbe should always be the last thing before your power amp or last thing in the loop depending what is your setup.

  • I can not figure out how to how to get the GCP to change presets on the G Major 2. Please help! Just got all this gear and have a huge show tomorrow!

  • @liquidtension just make sure both units are on the same midi channel. also make sure GMajor is set to user or preset. they should both communicate without any adjustement done to them both out of the box. U might try resetting both unit to factory state. also be sure your midi cable isnt broken. without more info on ure setup its hard to tell what ur doing wrong..

  • Thank you for sharing. Great job you answered more questions in 5 minutes and 44 seconds than hours of reading forum posts. BTW, nice rig too!

  • @Plexz Thx.. NP :)

  • So I am running from my GCP to an RG-16 to my Gmajor 2. (4 preset way) I want to call up certain user presets and stomp boxes within the 8 instant access switches. I have the Gmajor in a loop. I need to turn the loop on while switching the user presets. How can I achieve this?? Im not sure i fully understand the CC commands and Program Changes

  • Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question.

  • My question is pretty dumb, but where did you buy or how did you make the labels for the pedal?

  • @matabaldia I use a p-touch from the job. The labels come in different size and colors...

  • man thats some complicated shit llol

  • @guitarcubeohyes

they both are ernieball volume pedal 6166. For connecting use a Y cable: 2 mono -> 1 stereo. On GCP u have 2 input for 2 control if directly on gmajor u have only 1 input.

For the other question the answer is yes and no. all the parameters inside mod 1 to 4 are set per preset. so u can change what you control depending which preset ur using. but everything after is set globally and that includes volume...

  • EX1 on my pedal controls the volume, but EX2 is controlling the parameter AND the volume. You run into that before?

  • If u like this video rate it! Cause I get good comments but have a 1 star rating?

  • Well ppl have been asking me to do a more detailed video. So if u have suggestion on what u want to see in it please fell free to ask it here.

  • Don't be afraid to ask questions guys if I know the answer I'll post them. For the preamp switching it really depends what amp u have. I only have experience with triaxis via midi or a triple rectifier via relay switching from gmajor2. I was afraid the video would be too long for YouTube so I'm kinda running in this tutorial to say everything I wanted. a full tutorial without shortcut from a-z would last 30min easy

  • Thank you for doing this but can you do a tutorial showing every step on how to setup a preamp switching and patches? Including the g-major 2 settings ect?

  • God I want one but I feel so retarded for not understanding.

  • Hey man, great video. What ernie ball pedals are those? Are there any ones in particular you have to use of do any of their volume pedals work?

  • @robbydanger these are both 6166. but any volume pedal will do.
