  • If I may ask, how many polygons did you use for the environment and texture resolution?

  • @tweetielover23 - the total environment polygons for the race track was 58,773 triangles. I can't remember the textures exactly, but I remember my method limited me to 4 road, and 4 grass textures. all of which were 1024x1024 resolution. most trackside items were 512x512 or 256x256. the vehicles used a 1024x512 texture and the wheels were built with a 64x64 and a 128x128.

  • excelent reel! the name of the first theme ?

  • reel nice work and presentation! the style to me is like a cross between gta, half-life and grand tourismo, looks cool, I love your turntable design as-well btw.

  • nice use of texture space.. your car animations aren't really good though.. they look really fake in some places.

  • nice work

  • What game is this or did you make this animation?

  • everything you see here except for the audio notated at the end credits slate is stuff I created.

  • Amazing! Why don't you make benchmark test's or videogames?

  • That was originally the purpose of this demo reel is to show prospective employers the work I could produce.

  • You got skills man. You could be doing alot on the future with animation in computer's.

  • Sweet... The kerbs are a bit taller then usual, but still sweet. How did you created those cracks on the road texture? Your job is awesome, keep up.

  • i dont know if he only used a displacement but you can do it easily in ZBrush and just do a normal map than apply it to the the road model.

  • actually, the only thing in the race track scene using height/bump/normal maps is the water (also visible in first scene of the video)

The rest is all straight textures from photographic sources, heavily manipulated in photoshop

  • Excellent work mate

  • good stuff. is that a game footage or an animation? feels like the second coz of the camera shakes and wierd turning on some of the vehicles... confirm please.

  • Thanks - it's all animation, I didn't feel like porting it into a game because the only games I had couldn't render the way I wanted them to.. heh

Maybe a combination of the Unreal Editor with Gran Turismo 5's engine would be good for my future projects XD

  • are you looking for a job? i have a client who is looking for an env. artist here in toronto.

  • Do you need an env. artist that is doing modeling + textures?? If ur looking for an env. modeling....I could work for you...

  • Nice work, models are surprisingly low-poly! Textures are very good indeed

  • imagine playing a game with this kind of graphics.damn.hehe

  • wow this is amazing. nice work.

  • very realistic render and animation, congrats

  • i thought the train was real for about 4 seconds

  • Brilliant stuff mate! really realistic texture work! Were your ground textures procedural? tiled? or one or two really big texture maps?

  • Thanks! It's all tiled textures.

  • This looks great. What did you use to model the dynamics of the cars?

  • The vehicles were all animated by traditional keyframing.

  • Really sweet! well done, brilliant stuff! - what was it modelled in? - all your own work?

  • thanks! ... it was modeled in 3dsmax 7.0, textured with photoshop, and the music is not my work... the 3d stuff is though. The credits are also in the video description, as well as the somewhat hard to read text at the ending (was designed for 720x480/540)

  • Wow, this is really, really cool!
