  • this is muktar

  • A good tuned brand piano cannot be beat... this is a very special one

  • Wow! The voicings on this piano are amazing, with a good ear you can hear it even with the shitty camera mic. Great job my friend :)

  • I wish you were my piano tuning guy :(

  • Can a serious player piano become just as good training on an upright as opposed to a grand or baby grand?

  • Great, now I need to upgrade my computer speakers so I can get at least a small idea what this wonderful instrument can do.

  • get a real microphone!

  • Hi there, Fantastic video, just wondered if you could tell me what that tune is that you play around 1.07 onwards - It seems a very nice set of scales, do you have it written down at all ? Is it from a song ?

    Thanks :)

  • you're such a cutie! "it will suit the artist at the highest level :| "

  • such a small piano.....is that a 'powerful sound'? highly doubt that.

  • @Anthony42ly You know nothing, mate.

  • Mommy, Mommy, I want one

  • i don't know why, but piano players are always kinda weird...

  • You jackasses are roll on the floor funny.

  • If you feel his expressions are weird, try Glenn Gould. I expect that!

  • nice ping on top for a ny steinway.

  • wonderful sound and great demonstration!

  • What a wonderful piano. Instruments like that are always a privilege to play. Spectacular sound.

  • I'm glad you are able to laugh at the serial killer speculation instead of... errr... serial killing. All kidding aside, this is one of the more memorable youtube videos I've ever seen. Thanks for sharing even though it was a "blatant sales pitch"!

  • @napoedge Sounds like a good tuning job. Hard to determine the voicing and sound of the instrument, though. I dont doubt that it sounds awesome in reality. /Pianotech in Sweden

  • @d0g3n Thanks.

  • @nrvstorm Did you sell it? I regret that I sold my 1976 model B. I just bought a really old B though. Hopefully I wont do the same mistake again :)

  • To everyone making fun at the uploader's facial expressions while he's playing:

Was Glenn Gould, arguably one of modern time's greatest pianists, not just as eccentric? xP

  • I would sell it and buy korg oasys or some high end digital piano like yamaha cgp1000

  • i love Steinway & Sons

they producing very very nice models. <3

  • Why would you want to sell a piano like this though?

  • @ethaninwhite to buy a house.

  • @nrvstorm I don't mean to tell you how to live your life, but that's a terrible trade. JK. Great piano

  • nice sounds BUT:

    it has no midi.

it has only one piano sound.

    it's not portable,

    it's expenssive.

    >_<

  • @napoedge haha! Despite all that it's still nice to own one...

  • @nrvstorm

of course but with the same money i can buy:

    a yamaha motif,a korg oasys,a kurzweil pc,a roland phantom,sdjaljdlkajslkdjsa

    =D

  • @nrvstorm I wouldn't argue if he gave it to me!

  • @napoedge lol

  • Comment removed

  • @napoedge the statue of liberty -

    nice monument BUT

    it doesn't move

    it only has one look

    it's not portable

    it was pretty expensive

    U MAD?

  • @napoedge But unlike everything else, Its a complete historical work of art of expensive material and beautiful sound!

  • @Thaumiel99

    yes of course it is.

  • @napoedge And your point? No MIDI instrument will EVER sound like a REAL Piano!!!! :-)

  • @napoedge Lol it's a Grand Piano dude, not an electric keyboard. It's only meant to serve one purpose. & not everybody who owns a piano is in it to record or anything, it's a hobby to some people.

  • @napoedge I guess that's it's strength - pure, focused, refined over and over for many years by experts for professional musicians :)

  • ...and it's a real instrument that will still be around in a hundred years, unlike cheap portable midis...

  • ...and it's a real musical instrument that will still be making music a hundred or so years from now, unlike a cheap, portable midi appliance...

  • @napoedge

"It has only one piano sound"

    Yes, the best.

  • Comment removed

  • That's a beautiful sounding piano.

I've been reading up on these. Seems like the perfect size of a Grand for home use.

I have a Yamaha U7 upright now,and been wondering if it's worth it in playing experience to switch to something like this.

Also read that it's the piano technicians favourite instrument to work on.

  • kill him

  • @steffpringle why say that?

  • @nrvstorm well, because america is not free of idiots, like any other country

  • @physikphilosoph agreed.

  • LUCKKY YOU!!

  • Again, you an awesome performer. I bet you really miss this piano :(

  • what is up with all of these comments about his being weird? his facial expressions while playing are funny, but I dunno about his being a psycho

  • @koobird thank you.

  • @koobird Exactly. He isn't a psycho, he is true musician. A lot of musicians feel the music whilst playing it, which is why he has "weird" facial expressions.

  • @koobird . True, at least he's into what he's playing and not just bashing something out, which gives some respect for the instrument

  • sounds warm, even, and VERY balanced... and i'm listening via my dinky computer speakers. you, sir, are a fantastic technician. do you know of any technicians/rebuilders in California? I've had a very difficult time finding good steinways. And I really do think the new ones are very low in quality--and overpriced. What do you think?

  • @pyroprince78 I agree with you. I'm also looking....trying to find a good used B. You have any luck yet?

  • You dont seem altogether happy about the sale. What became of it and why the sale? if you dont mind me asking.

  • I only wish it were in a recording studio. I can tell the quality, but you have to cut through the low-fi recording. Please, get some recording equipment and put up a studio-quality vid? I really want to hear this piano.

  • the room looks very nice designed!

  • @twitterianer haha, lol

  • sounds awesome. wish i have a chance to own a Steinway at some point in my life.

  • What's the name of the second to last and last short piece he played?

    Incredible piano!!

  • @SmileFacePal Goldberg Variations by J.S. Bach

  • 2:51 orgasm...lol

  • @nexusdb lololololol

  • My university had this piano gifted to them. It's boss. Period.

  • @Dominoes282 Are you sure it is this same piano? I sold it to a private buyer...but if so thanks for the props.

  • @nrvstorm the exact same

  • @Dominoes282 Send me a PM with details. I'd like to know where it ended up and how...thanks, Norman.

  • @nrvstorm I think what he meant is that this same model ended up at his university

  • you play real good! what songs are these?

  • what songs are these? amazing.

  • Really a very nice sound, did you tune it yourself??

  • @LaserXV2 Thanks and yes.

  • the music he starts playing at 1:09 - is this an actual song ?? if so what is it called . .thanks !

  • OMG, that was great play. I have been looking in how to play and buy Piano, it nice to see some folks still love their job and what they do, my hats off to you.

  • omfg... :O that must've costed a LOT. Steinways cost so much more than brand new cars. My friend played the Steinway once and she didn't want to leave it :p she asked her mom for a steinway and her mom freaked out about the price XD

  • i have grand piano kawai

  • Envious doesn't begin to describe it.

  • I love Steinway and Sons grand pianos! I love the "U3" ones! I'd love to have one someday!

  • we have four steinways in our basement conservatory. :D

  • A beautiful instument indeed. I'm envious. But if it takes 6 months to voice & regulate a Steinway it's little wonder we mere mortals buy digitals.

  • I can't believe you sold it! It's beautiful!

  • @aliarabsoccer yeah what else is he keeping in that basement?

  • @dbei66 Dead babies, of course!

  • @1CaptainAustralia1 why? He looks handsome to me, you're all so shallow and childish.

  • @1CaptainAustralia1 yup, full time!

  • @1CaptainAustralia1 I am! How did you guess?

  • @1CaptainAustralia1 Why say such a rude thing? Come on man. Get it together.

  • @Bassfanatic94 blow it out your ass, he doesn't seem to give a shit lol

  • I see you are very fond of the baroque period music! Organ would also be a great instrument for you. :)

  • that piano is worth its weight in gold to someone who loves playing the piano..

and if you look hard enough it's possible to find a piano that good..

  • Why is it necessary to express what you feel when you see a person ?

  • Yes because that is what this place is for posting clips and making comments. Don't you feel smart!

  • Jesus Christ, you have got to be kidding me. I really hope you are not serious.

  • @Well108 Don't believe in all that you don't have solid prof on that whole JC thing, so yes I am serious.

  • Why are you judging people that you have never met so strongly, implying they are pedophile and a "homo." This man has an amazing piano which we should all be commenting on, not what he looks like.

I am not a Christian, or ever have been a Christian; throughout my life I've either been agnostic or atheistic. My use of "Jesus Christ" was completely secular, and just as an exclamation, like "holy cow," etc.

  • @Well108 Well OMG you never quit do you? It's just a comment I didn't say he played bad. If you watch the video close he sticks his teeth out and he DOES look buck tooth and he really looks like one of those homo guys one HTCAP

  • @Well108 Also when he talks about the piano it looks like he wants to cry at times. An attachment to something non living like that is pretty sad.

  • what is it with all these queers lately going around claiming they see another

queer in every other guy they see?

  • @az101010 Hell if i know damn queers

  • @pmh61 he does it at the 2:20 to 2:23 mark gets all buck tooth

  • pm- you said: " homo ish looks".. that's how you know if you are really a homo yourself- if you see homo in another guy's face.. but there is absolutely nothing about this guy that identifies him as a homo.. you are highly most likely a homo and you don't know it..

  • @az101010 So if I send you a video of me pasting some ladys face witch i do often would that stop making me a homo ?

  • pm- a homo is a homo- i don't work against them- i just don't like them trying to make homos of people who are not homos.. i think if they can't behave themselves they should stay in the closet..

  • @az101010 So are you just saying you want to go in there with me and rub it out for me. Cuz if so I am cool with that it makes you gay for doing it not me for getting it so if you want to just give me your address and we can get this show on the road.

  • I can't wait for my custom-built Steinway to arrive! Burning it is gonna be so much fun!

  • is it going to be a large grand?

  • @bruteforce56 Why burn a custom piano when you can burn a stock one for much cheaper?

  • @nrvstorm Because of the very fact that someone put a lot of hard work into it and I got to watch it all burn away. :) ah, the things you can do when you have too much money on your hands.

  • that is fabulous what he has going for him- why wouldn't anyone want to share something like that- i would.. and i've been a musician for many years and i know positively that a steinway is a better instrument than anything else..

  • i love your playing my friend. I play a little bit, not as well as you, but hopefully some day soon. keep up the good work. I enjoy watching you

  • Now there my friends is a very lonely man in need of recognition. A little sad.

  • Whatever.

  • you stoped the goldberg variations right before the best part of the aria...but cool piano

  • A Bechstein is nicer, most Yamaha Concert Grands are at least as well, and the best ever instruments - warm and melancholic in sound and clear and bright in the upper tones - are PETROF concert grands...

  • Yamaha is jap crap and is not nearly as good as Bechstein, Bösendorfer or steinway. Petrof is a joke and their pianos are just horrid. Steinway I dont find to be the very best, Erard is my absolute favorite (pre 1900) Then Bosendorfer, then steinway.

  • @kirbyheritage2 why would u say that steinways are not the best? I am no expert and I am just planning to learn the piano but from what many says steinway is the absolute in all pianos but is your conclusion based on your own personal preference? if it is can u tell me about your preferences and how they relate to the pianos u mentioned....

    :)

  • Well steinways are excellent pianos for sure. The older the better in my opinion.

But they are not the best. Steinway and sons is all in the name. They have been producing pianos for a very long time, and has gained world wide popularity.

There are companys who make/made better pianos than steinway has in my opinion. Bösendorfer makes some of the finest pianos in the world. Also the 1850s era of Erard were considered the worlds best pianos in history.

  • Erard was one of the first piano companies ever. They made extremely elegant and overall very well built pianos. They were the choice of Chopin, Beethoven, Hayden, Liszt, and many others. Chopin actually wrote music for the erard piano, because of its tone quality, and it doesnt seem to sound as good as it does on an authentic early Erard.

  • @kirbyheritage2 sounds to me that u are a piano afficionado:) i have seen reports that Fazioli is also being acclaimed by present day pianists worldwide and say this is also a bulldog in the best quality pianos in the world, are u familiar with the Fazioli pianos as well? I never heard a Erard in person before but i believe that it is a mixture of well balanced and proportioned tunes from the base and up

  • Hey 64miguel. I have never played a Fazioli, so I cant put my input on them. I have heard good things on them however.

Erards are straight strung pianos. (the copper strings dont overlap the wire ones) So it achieves an even tone. Erards are known for being mellow, so a 9 foot erard would probably produce as much sound a as a 7'3" or so steinway or similar. But still retains a beautiful tone. I nearly bought a 6' 1855 erard. But the guy backed out.

  • @kirbyheritage2 Now a 1855 Erard gotta be a jewel piece!!!:) u see i am getting serious soon with learning to play and that stuff maybe within 6 months I am hitting the classroom ( I really hope less than 6, 4 mnths sounds good from my schedule right now) but can i add u as a friend, more piano friends the better!

  • As you can probably guess, I about died when I saw that erard for sale right here in itty bitty nebraska. It was in fantastic original condition. $1,000! I was in heaven, the guy sadly backed out right as I brought up the cash. :(

Good to hear! The piano is a fantastic instrument, and really fun.

You sure can add me as a friend. :)

  • @64miguel I'm pretty sure Beethoven prefered Broadwoods so yet again kirbyheritage2 seems to be a bit of a windbag.

  • and he did much enjoy Erards too according to some

  • @64miguel I would ignore kirbyheritage2 and anyone else who bombasitcally touts the advantages of certain pianos. There are many many good pianos out there and frankly what sets a good piano apart from a great one isn't so much who made it but who works on it and what they did to it. VERY few (including extreamly expensive) pianos come from the factory sounding or playing their best. Frankly who cares what is the best - if you can afford it and you like it so be it - forget the fallboard.

  • I think the only reason why Steinway Grands are in every concert hall is their great marketing-coup decades ago: After successfully selling a few grands to famous halls they made the keys harder to play than others.

It sounds nice, but not worth the money they charge. It sounds too cold and dead.

  • To fast for the Aria Goldberg Variation

  • i like piano with more deep bass sounding but ill take this one lol

  • i love the way you play :)

very smoothly and easily, yet aggrandizing every note on the piano.

  • i love ur expressions while youre playing the piano ;D

  • I can only hope and pray that someday I have the means to own a Steinway piano. They are my favorite in the world. Wonderful sound. I bet you miss it a lot.

  • The insides of a piano are very interesting. I like to take off the front and top of my upright, since I like hearing the full sound. I always wanted a Steinway B! Anyways, great piano! Sounds wonderful!

  • you seem to be extremely uncomfortable in front of a camera.

  • shit grand piano. look for kawai or yamaha pianos !!!

  • Yamaha and Kawai make good pianos. I just prefer the Steinway sound.

  • how much money have you spend for this grand piano?

  • Not your business. But, I'll tell you that I made $10k on it.

  • uh, if someone wants to buy a piano it should be their business. It's not like he's asking you all kinds of personal question, no big deal man.

  • you fucking serious? steinway is the shit!

yamaha and kawai is shit compared to steinway. That's why at every concert domes there are steinway

  • Man, this piano sounds like Christmas. Nice stuff.

  • You did a great job on this piano!!!

  • including glenn gould face expressions, very nice. :D seriously, very nice playing on a beautiful piano.

  • at 1:08 what piece is that from i would really love to know please!

  • 0:59 was that 3rd movement of Beethoven's Sonata in C sharp minor? :D

I'm so jealous, the Steinway's bass is probably the best of all the basses of different piano manufacturers in my opinion, and it makes my crappy yamaha look weak and tinny lmao

  • That is a magnificent sounding grand Sir!!!!

  • hi, from the video, it appears that you have studied piano technique some, (your scales keep a relaxed hand, no raising pinky) out of curiosity , is this statement true?

  • Yes I did a graduate degree in classical piano.

  • This one costs more than $65.000

  • What an instrument.... it sings.

  • how much was it sold for?

  • Mmmm great video, but why would you ever sell a Steinway? Such objects of lust and desire!

  • I bought it to sell it...like some flip houses I flipped this piano.

  • money.

  • it's only an arpegio at a minor

  • i really like it. i recently got my grandmoher's steinway grand paino it´s from the 1906 (european counting) and it´s beatiful mahogny anyways what i wanted to say was that i never thought much of recently produced steinway instruments like yours but i got happily surprised here. even listening in here on youtube i love the sound of your instrument! thank you for playing some small pieces:). /mia from sweden

  • i want to play rue des cascades by yann tiersen on a steinway & sons for Jesus.

  • I love that piece. Yann Tiersen is amazing :)

  • very nice. what scale did you play in the very beginning? at 0:58

  • im pretty sure its a minor broken form

  • That is a Great Piano with beautiful sound nice job presenting it

  • that is an unbelievably nice piano. I'll trade you my untuned Cadby piano, and a hundred quid for it xD

  • That has gorgeous intonation in the lower range. We owned a 1890's Chicago and Son's upright, it needed tuning, but it certainly couldn't match that beauty.

  • I want that piano..........

  • The best piano I have ever heard More More

    Play it for Jesus.
