La 4ème symphonie est sans doute celle où Vierne se "livre" le plus, dans toutes les facettes de sa personnalité riche, complexe et tourmentée.

Voilà la romance, que l'on surnomme trop vite comme ayant peu d'intérêt. Pourtant, la candeur, la déclamation du thème, la subtilité du décalage harmonique faisant presque entre du 3 pour 2. Forme lied décrivant presque un parcours intérieur: Douceur, apparition de l'angoisse et retour à la quiétude.

Wonderful performance. I'm not familiar with the 4th symphony so thanks for posting. I have the symphonies on CD so I guess I should dig that out.

Vierne at his most lush; beautiful melodies and the artist certainly plays this movement with much feeling and nuance for the musical phrase.
