I think this disease is one of the worst possible anyone can get. My grandmother died from Alzheimer's and, having to see her in that state before she pssed was really depressing. I hope I die before I ever have a chance to get like that. I would NEVER want any of my children and/or grand children to see me like that. It really depends on what they are on. Different medications perform different functions. No medication to date for treatment of alzheimers has ever stoped it. Medications merely reduce the severity of symptoms and different medications are given to people depending on the stage of where they are at. Hope that answers your question.

Here is a brief Alzheimers story. My friend, who was 66 at the time attacked my sister with a knife! He was sent to jail and nobody knew what went wrong! He was then sent to the hospital and when I saw him he was so confused!

That was in November and in March of 2007 he got well but could not come to see me because of flashbacks of that day!

He was better through this past Easter when we went shopping and did great stuff and in April!

Lady of 83 reverting back to a child like state screaming for her mother to stop hiting her and how she did not want to go under the stairs. heart breaking! and as a carer the only thing you can do is offer comfort and reasurence.
