I was in Damascus for the last time also 8 years ago, and seeing Bakdash looking just the same, and the best ice cream of the world (how true that is!) again made me go back to those happy times. This makes me all warm and fuzzy inside :) So, you were about 17 when you were last in that shop?! I mean if you think about the significance of change between now and then,its quite amazing. Look at where you were and where you are. Its strange to me that you were once my age! Not that you're old lol, just so sucessful.
