That's kind of the psychological make up of a comedian, and or funny person. We're fanastic, well behaved and thoughtful people when we're one on one with a friend, but when a third person or more is introduced into the scenario there's a physical and psychological need or obligation to perform. It's almost a trait you wish you could control, but you can't.
