Oh, the commODIUM. That went over my head the first time I read it, but as I recall when I visited you in 1999 or 2000 thereabouts, you were making your first ones. This instrument sounds great. I'm eager to send you pics of my current ukes. Trouble is, I'm still fussing with several of them.
Would you be so kind as to play one of your octave commodiums in a youtube video sometime? I've heard that you make 'em. That mandola sounds cool, but I'd like to know what a resonator bouzouki would sound like.
@keelermatt77 Great idea. I don't have one right now. I'm about to build a 6-string guitar Commodium for a customer. I could at least play that, when it is done, to give you some idea. Except for this mandola I mostly just build these on commission. For more info kcary@dcn.org
Not to be too crassly commercial, but this Commodium mandola is for sale. And for you mando-heads out there, if I do end up keeping it myself I'll probably tune it DAEB to make it easier to play in sharp keys. --- I certainly can appreciate the bathroom humor, what do I expect when I make instruments out of bedpans, but my goal with these things was and is to make the loudest resonator mandolins on the planet. The internal structure is different from any other instrument, as far as I know.
