Is there any way to find out who those two guys are? They're fantastic! (As is Ms. Heatherton, of course--I never knew she had such talent--mostly knew of her as a sex bomb who sang sometimes, and was used a lot to sell stuff. I'm very impressed!) And early Michael Bennett! Great stuff--thanks.
@sumyoungay If you read her lips when she's calling out the football play, she's blows one of the numbers -- looks like she's saying "72" while the vocal is "92." But it doesn't detract from her talent at ALL.
@bobbymoya Re. the social security number--that's just what I was wondering (was that her real number?) and thinking (wow--she'd never do that these days).
Joey Heatherton is really hot for her day, some of her leg shots have been used to advertise stereo equipment. Joey Heatherton did very well, a beautiful woman.
Miss Heatherton had great legs & sexy natural(pouty/full ) lips & a perfect short haircut to match her sexiness! ! Wish she would make an appearance somewhere! We'd love her at any age!! May God watch over you Miss Joey- WE LOVE U & have not forgotten about U!! ~~~<3
i sang on her dads radio show when i was still in island trees high school, 1969. then i had the pleasure and honor of opening for her while i was working with king henry and the showmen at mount airy lodge in the poconos in 1976, in the crystal room. she was so increadable, and sweet and very very sexy, and very nice to me. it is one of my favorite moments during my time as a singer in the biz. pat seminario
@TreyMcIntyre LOL I saw that too. After the mishap, he made sure to look up and gauge the space before lifting Heatherton up, so as not to end up smashing her onto a number.
Check out 2 music posts under TINA MASON. I first saw her performing at Disneyland (1972?) and went crazy because she was so like Joey. Both visually and vocally. More pop-rock oriented, but definitely Joey. I went back many times to catch her act. Turns out she was the regular girl singer on Dick Clarks Where The Action Is. Married Phil Volk of Paul Revere & the Raiders and sang with various incarnations of that band, post-Raiders. Youll love her, promise.
That's a good question. She appeared at least five times on Dean's show between 1965 and 1968. (Does anyone out there know the exact number of guest appearances?) Joey was also a regular on DEAN MARTIN PRESENTS THE GOLDDIGGERS, a summer replacement series, in 1968.
Did a little dectective work. It was five. I looked at some TV Guides on microfilm at the library for confirmation. She was scheduled to appear on the Ed Sullivan show in December of 1970 but pulled out. This was about the time the incident involving Lance Rentzel happened. Disregard the about Joey's six appearances on Dean's show.
Such a dazzling talent. Wasted mostly except for her sparkling guest spots on TV shows in the 1960s. In another era, she would have been an instant mega-movie star.
Boy, what I would give to go back to those days when women were women and they dressed like it!!! I was a teen and thought those days would never end, but sadly they are long gone.
Joey was one of the very last in a long line of do-it-all dancer-singer (and, yes, comedic) threats that probably developed sometime pre-1920. In the first half of the 20th century, almost all those singing girls could dance too. It became a lost art. Joey had to do her thing in a world where stupid go-go dancing and crap were murdering the old show biz. So you see her work is a bastard mix. In pre-1955 America she might have been a huge star, not just best know as a mattress slut.
Thanks so much for posting this. I only wish Joey would realize how many fans she still has and grace us with just one more song. PLEASE??? Paul O aka Jimmy WIlde
Great dance number. I hate reality TV even more now. I remember being surprised when I found out Joey was such a sex bomb considering that her father Ray Heatherton played such a clean, wholesome character, The Merry Mailman.
"I am the Merry Mailman. Ring, ding your bell will ring." Well, Joey rings my bell.
mesmerizing! I was all of 8 yrs.when I first saw this and remember it to this day!!! THANX SO MUCH FOR POSTING!

Did she give away a social security number there at the end? (and it didn't begin with 555?) Would never happen nowadays.

I loved when the dancer looks up to see where number seven is before lifting Joey! Beautiful!

Her high kicks were amazing! The male dancers were great! Either she was very short of they were very tall. She looked so little next to them.
