  • do you run a website with all this? what kind of website requires you to need all this? i am new to the server thing and i am running a site that my computer probably is tired of handleing...probly time for me to do the server thing. My site broadcasts live feed of aquariums and there are interactive controls that you control over the internet..wish me luck.

  • very nice setup, for what you got you have done well with your wire management too, whats the blade center running adn how did you configure it, full cluster, or blade by blade, or a mix, it migt be more efficient to have a singel switch rather than two 24ports just a note. very nice over all man, definate thumbs up. oh whats it all for?

  • What is a server for? What do people usally use them for?

  • dont tell me u r fucking sleeping in this room lol

  • Odd screens look lame no offence your wrack is impressive though ;)

  • Odd screens look lame no offence

  • What kind of internet line do you have in there!?

  • Dude, this is a truly amazing setup. I envy your blades as well. I presume that you're running ESX of these servers??

But this is one of the three home server setups that have actually impressed me :)

  • Nice, KISS for those who know why. I just picked up a dl580 g1 server for myself. Why because I wanted the 4 processors. Outdated YES. But who cares. Just need to find 2 more procs, and some hard drives. Way to go on your server. I see some great server rooms. I just wonder what place some of your guys live at that requires that much hosting. Anyway. Great stuff.

  • Blade center in the office. THATS HOW YOU FUCKING ROLE :D:D:D:D:D:D Amazing!

  • Not bad, do you know if there are half server racks, i would like to put one in my crawlspacce for my whs and mail server, any I would like to put all networking crap into there as well.

  • More Than A Feeling - Boston xDDD

  • What is your electric bill per month??

  • imagine the noise if there were 10

  • Your energy bill must be very high:D

  • Computer guy and his many fans :P

  • AWESOME!!! My Server rack looks like a big pile of crap compared 2 his piece of GLORY!!!!!!!

  • what do you use it for ?

  • Good for you.

  • Smash that Compaq monitor. I hated those things. Good tune though.

  • I was gan make a technology room/Computer room...but whaa i just see now....Yuh seem Like yuh knowslots bout Technology...I only know a few.....Imma Take Computer off my list For rooms lol

  • But why so much computing power? what is it all used for, i mean a freaking blade system at home...

  • @NiXPE

I think he using the clusters for a "DV Server" for hosting porn or direct traffic to it, noone needs that much power for their home needs. The reason why it all at his house is because no 'free' or even most "paided" hosting company will tolerate your using their facilities to host porn or direct traffic to it.

You can make alot of money buying only domains and reselling them and hosting porn, so it maybe worth it to him, if that whats he doing?

  • I just built a nice server myseft, with a dual quad core xeon with 16gb eec ram, with six 2tb seagate drives in raid 5 and two 300gb 15k rpm drives in raid 0 with a adaptec hardware SAS 6gb controller and 32gb cache ssd drive, also installed a decent videoocard and soundcard, because double as my workstation computer in my office, and runs as a home/NAS server.

You could sell all that and built or buy a highend server, would be more efficient, unless there reason you need that many servers?

  • omg.. what you do at home mate.. must be some kind of wicked sick!!! and it is really noisy as well, i think you should move it to an other room. Further more, don't you think that it is very likely to catch a hazard when you put every together at the same place like this.. if some thing happen (hope it won't) you will be dead by minutes..

  • why not go out get a nice Nehalem server and run all those physical servers in the virtual world? Save a TON of power, and cooling?

  • cool what os are you runing on them

  • Positive comment from me Josh. Well done!!! Got much of this hardware myself much of it DL360s (G1 2 &3)and DL380s(G2 & 3). Noisy ... yes but I too don't have a normal family ... 3 boys all gamers and video freaks I need the storage and the functionality, plus a Girlfriend and her daughter who expect to be able to print and store whatever they want,(from anywhere they want) this is both a hobby and a passion as well as a living in part.

    Great job!!!

  • Bills for electric current are probably horrible...

  • looks like shit to me, need an update man

  • @jeremiahd23 I've told others before, keep the swearing off of my channel. If you;r gonna hate it, don't say anything to begin with

  • @jeremiahd23 Don't knock it, Brand Spanking New Servers Cost Thousands upon thousands, when a respectable server, I.e. One with Dual Xeon Processors 2Ghz and 3GB of RAM for 50 Bucks aint bad. I've got my eye on them blade servers, hopefully 8 years down the line, will be affordable. Certainly was the Case with my Dell PowerEdge 2650, about 2,500 bucks new, got it for 50 today.

  • @josh2beefy Sweet Setup by the Way!

  • @jeremiahd23 Did you not see the blade center? and the DL380 G4s you must be blind

  • @jeremiahd23 You are a dick this server setup is very cool and if you are gonna give him shit about it i bet i could find some big geeks to come to your house and whip your ass

  • @jeremiahd23 who cares what it looks like to you, go look in the mirror then fuck yourself.

  • Is that a little bit too noisy if you have your desktop in the same room ? ;)

  • @mathieupoussin You don't have the slightest clue... That's why it's all moved out of the house now and into a commercial building!

  • Have you sold those to HP servers?

  • wow, an average family doesn't have this.only this guy does

  • @CrazFilmz That's right, my family is not an average family and we're damn proud of it!

  • @josh2beefy I HAVE SERVERS GALORE DAMM I LOVE MY SERVERS

  • @CrazFilmz

    yea to right lol

i have a simular setup in my spare room

after puting cooling system in my spare room is like -1 when servers not running

    but 2C when all running

  • @TheXdept Having one beast of a server to replace all of these would be nice, but a hell of a lot more expensive. See, I purchased all of this hardware as I needed it and I started all of this in 2006. As business continues to expand I'm going to need to purchase new hardware and when that happens I plan on replacing all of my current equipment with the HP BL600c series of products. ----- I MOVED THE SERVER RACK OUT OF MY HOUSE!!!!!! FINALLY MOVED INTO A DEDICATED FACILITY!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • How come you are using such old Server Hardware? I mean wouldn't it just be better to purchase and build a custom server and visualize? It would save on power costs, cooling costs and most importantly noise levels....

  • Love the rack bro, very similar to mine, but i got a few Dell units along with proliants, but you need to get some Cisco Equipment, im running 2 Cisco 24 and 48 port switches divided on my network with VLAN's and they are all trunked together, also running a Cisco 2610 router and a Cisco 3002 vpn hardware client so when i connect to my rack remotely its running 256 bit encryption with the vpn tunnel. Rather than just unsecure remote desktop lol keep it up ill send you some photos of mine

  • Really nice setup

  • Where do you get the money for this!!! Looking at HP blades for small time web hosting and the enclosure is $7000 itself

  • awesome... are you running a home base business with that setup? :)

  • i would hate to pay ur power bill

  • i would lol if that all set alight because of the carpet lol

  • this is really loud^^ can you sleep with this noise?

  • Whats the name of the song in this video?

  • why have so many keyboards? use a KVM

  • Out of curiosity what are you running there? lol.

  • Hey can I ask you a question - trying to set up some websites/thinking of using two or three rackmounts from Rackable Systems....BUT there are no cd/dvd drives on these systems so how do I install the OSs - maybe a network install is that possible before I install the OS ???

  • @donnyab There are quite a few different ways to install an OS. If there are no internal drives you can use an external optical drive, you could use a flash drive, if you have ghost and know how to use it you can network install that way. If youre going to set up Windows Servers you can use Windows Deployment Services (available in 2003 and 2008) or RIS (2003 only). That way you setup your first server, thenm PXE boot the rest and install

  • @josh2beefy

    tnks

  • let me ask you this WHY THE FUCK DO YOU HAVE ALL THAT IN YOUR HOUSE WHATS THE POINT??

  • @billeyjbob5000 I don't appreciate swearing in my comments. Want to comment keep it clean.

  • @josh2beefy yo im sorry for that so why do you have all of that

  • @josh2beefy Thats some fucking old hardware dude :)

  • Why 20 blades, then 6 more stand-alone servers? 20 servers not enough for your home network? Then, of course, you have a SAN and a bunch of low performance network switches. Why?

  • @NETWizzJbirk Again, I have all of my equipment because I'm in the process of moving my business into hosting. I only host for my clients and as their needs increase I have to increase the services I can provide. If they need more servers, I need to bring in more servers. If they want a VM for email and don't care that it's on an iSCSI SAN, then sobeit. My business model may not make sense to you since you dont know the foundation of my network, but trust me, it makes perfect sense.

  • @NETWizzJbirk and by the way, there are only 5 "stand-alone" servers. Didn't realize servers doing load balancing were considered stand-alone. Isn't stand-alone a server that is isolated from others? Thats alway been my general understanding.

  • @josh2beefy I have the same question why you need so many server for your home?

  • what are you servers doing? ;d

  • @weebl15 indeed i would like to know that too :D

  • does it ever have downtime?

  • @eddsteam I've not had any unplanned downtime yet. I've had no power outages but have manged to overload the circuit a couple times. Test the UPS's every week and PowerChute will e-mail me if there are any power-related issues.

  • i bet it stays nice and warm in there for you!

  • Nice setup, what network connection have you got ?

  • Cool

  • Nice setup.
