THe thing about YAZ, was that they put into music feelings i didn't know i had. They brought out a side of me that is very personal, like she's an angel that can see into your hurt, confused soul and sing to it. Everything can't be only punk rock, thank god.
Where did she go? I absolutely adore her voice.Alyson, please, back to the studio and show the young'un's what a true diva you are and what they should aspire to be. I would personally love a 60's retro-new take album. And I do mean album. Last of the vinyl people.
i couldn't agree more. only the brits could produce a white aretha franklin and they did it quite a few times. annie lennox, and alison moyet to name a few. alison should have had a much bigger career.
A classic pure pop song... amazingly crafted... unplugged it's just as hard hitting and touching as the original single... she's got such depth in her vocal deliverys... :)
I agree with dark sabretooth. if alison had stayed with vince clark yazoo would have been one of the greatest bands around. i think alison wasnt into synth music as much as vince. notice how when vince formed eresure he picked the person who most sang like alison. andy bell.
Moyet was good when she was in Yazoo - she should've stayed. This is one brilliant piece of 80s music, although I think it's best suited to a synth backing.
real talent and such a lovely lady, just love her singles compilation, a rare treat as its the only CD i can listen to from start to finish, I even got 3 spares in case it gets damaged and they delete it lol
she sounds as good as back in the day. But I miss the synth sounds. I always prefer the original 80s songs as opposed to the modern remakes made by the same artists. I always like to remember those songs for all the memories they bring. And the synth sound is part of that. She still looks and sounds amazing though.
You kids must to hear more about this wonderfull voice and a wonderfull girl of the 80's..she doesn't have the credits that deserves..I mean, she is one of the best!!!
how wonderful to hear Alison singing it after recently been subjected to the awful JC Penney ad version. the man who does it for the ad drained all the life and meaning out of it.
"Under rated?" I don't think so. She's known in the same class as Freddy Mercury, David Bowie, ect... Till this day, Allison is, and always will be the benchmark' for Bravado voices. Try to find "Midnight" now, that's Allison at her best.
Love the song and how she performed it. BTW - regarding the comment "under-rated", that is a good thing. Under-rated means she has not been recognized as the excellent performer as she deserves. So it was a compliment.
If not under-rated, certianly underappreciated, at least in the US. It's very sad that this sort of sound doesn't get on the radio, never sold many albums here.
I always get close to crying when i hear this song. Both Yazoo-albums are true classics of modern music, and it was brave of Vince to take on a soul-singer for synth-music - but a wise choice.
Unfortunately, Alison has never ever appeared in Sweden, which has affected her sales here strongly.
i love this song, I have Yaz(oo) album and Alison's Albmu "Singles" just for this song. I love this version even more (with the added chorus. Does anyone know if this was ever recorded on an album, and if so where can I get it?
She's so gorgeous... she seems to have taken on a confidence in her performances that she didn't have when she was younger, which makes it so much better.
thank you again and again, Alison Moyet. You and your voice are so beautiful. Such gifts for the rest of us. Can you come to California for a small concert? ;)
Absolutely beautiful. Just beautiful. She is such a classy lady. The joy she gets from singing that song comes through and you can't help but to smile too, y'know?
