  • did dave use a double bass kit before hell awaits or something

  • I never thought I'd see Slayer playing something "melodic" like that intro. I can now die i peace.

  • I would had moshed! AHHH "Living my life with one distant hope

A cure that will kill my invincible foe" Greatness! thx for uploading m8

  • I learned to play this song on guitar always fun to play.

  • Slayer uses a guitar as a Viking uses a sword!

  • 3:00 great... aaaah this is thrash, not metallica.... yeah Slayer!!!! ok I'm too drunk

  • the rythm guitar section of this song is so easy to learn by ear! bad ass bootleg btw, i wish i was there!!!

  • i would be on the stage by now!!

  • this is iron maiden

  • @slaytallicdethrax no this is not u dummy..its slayer.

  • @kidpein no shit i mean the song sounds like iron maiden i didnt mean it was literally iron maiden

  • @slaytallicdethrax oooooo...........rlly...how????......i think its becaz tom is actually singing..lol

  • @kidpein no, just go listen to phantom of the opera by maiden

  • Nice old footage. My first live concert was Exodus, Slayer & Venom 4/19/1985 at the Hollywood Palladium. I'm stoked that I was able to see all these killer bands at their rawest: Venom, Possessed, Slayer, Exodus, Dark Angel, Death Angel, Mercyful Fate and so on. It was a great time to be 15 & discovering & seeing all these titanic groups.

  • Lasst Haare fliegen..........

  • its fuckin unbelievable that this boring audience was listening to metal history...................................too bad that i was born in 84.....

  • what a boring audience

  • What happened to Jeff's guitar solo?

  • che bello vedere tutta sta poca gente sotto al palco e immaginarli quest' anno a wacken..

  • back then slayer were pretty unknown so they didn't have much real fans, actually you can see one person banging,... folks just went there to see what's going on, they didn't know this band would become one of the leading groups of a new genre :)

  • delicious metal cheese!

  • Damn, Tom was so great on bass at that time, well he still is but he played the bass with his fingers and he played a P-bass! Thank god (or whatever) for SLAYER!!

  • ya those fans are like shit....

    their just sitting there....

    not even jumping....

  • What's up with these unappreciative bastards in the audience? I was 1 year old when this was shot, I would have killed to have been able to see Slayer in the early 80's!

  • @gr8zombiejesus yeah man 80's Slayer was better than they are now, the fires gone out of them these days, this stuff is awesome, but yeah it has Iron Maiden all over it especially after 2:25. But did you see KK on Flight 666? These guys worshipped Maiden back in the day, no wonder they tried to sound like them, Maiden were filling arena's in the US in the early 80's.

  • @wingchun1976 i heard more judas preist in their early work, but yeah they also sound a lot like maiden

  • @gr8zombiejesus It was 1983, they had no idea what the hell was going on.

  • pure fucking awesomenes...

  • Fuck i just got the chills

  • Love that intro! Why did they cut it out on the album version?

  • WOW FUCKEN MEDEIVAL INTO, never heard it before, WOW, like some blast from the past, 500 year old pagen ritual intro, SATAN is pleased

  • And when I say "major" I mean not demonic and evil lol

  • The intro is the ONLY "major" thing I think I've ever heard them play at 0:07 ending at 0:45

  • at 2:37 some ppl inda front row headbag!finally lol

  • I've seen slayer live a lot of times, but I'd kill to see them in 1983 :)

  • I swear I thought they were about to do "Don't Fear the Reaper" at first...

  • does anyone know what crionics means

  • Crionics is suppose to be Cryonics, which is the preservation of humans by freezing. Basically the old language means 'cold'. The first couple verses of this song talks about being put into this state.

  • Rare gold right here! FUCKIN SLAYER RULZ !,,,!

  • this was basically Motley Crue's audience at the time. they didn't know what to think of a band like Slayer. Metallica went through the same thing. thrash was just beginning and it would take a couple of years for people to catch on.

  • True. 3/28/83 - "Kill 'em All" wasn't even out yet. only a handful of the most diehard thrash metal fans knew what it was. This is way ahead of its time. A hardcore punk audience would've been more at home at this gig.

  • i love this song

the best off show no mercy

  • Triple headbanging ftw!

  • Nice intro. they should've put it on Show No Mercy

  • Dude but what you want from the crowd, that was L.A.

  • Only two people headbanging, and one of them with a fist in the air?!?

Spose, thats how all the early Thrash bands were recieved in the beginning, but how could you not jump around at a gig with this song/band?

  • intro???good

  • any1 know where i can get torrent for this concert?

  • 3:30 is the best

  • Awesome! A really great time capsule, there. Slayer with 20 people in the crowd, probably waiting for Raven or something to play. Who knew?

  • I remember seeing them at The Liberty Lunch in Austin, Tx with the crowd being that limited it was the best ever. I'll never forget.

  • de la ptm esta cancion ksm la amo

  • Favorite Slayer track!

But wtf is wrong with the crowd? There are just a dozen of people and are creeping bored

  • maybe they are just warming up

  • they shoulda left the beginning for the album. I could imagine a guy being frozen after he dies and then when he wakes up in the future DUUUN DUN the part we know and love starts.

  • yeah, amazing intro but I have no idea why they cut it out.

  • OLD FUCKIN SCHOOL THRASH!

  • omg..tom and jeff with short-ish hair lol never thought id see the day, but yea thats my fav song from show no mercy, and the reason why it has an iron maiden sound is coz maiden were one of the direct influences on slayer along with judas priest, they started out playing maiden and priest covers. its also hard to believe that this vid is 7yrs older than me lol...SSSLLAAYYEEEERR!!!

  • whoa this kinda has an iron maiden sound to it

  • the intro reminds me a little bit of children of the damned and not to mention that the show no mercy album has quite a bit of iron maiden influence compare to the later slayer albums.

  • PURE OLD SCHOOL METAL

  • maybe the crowd was just a bit tired that's all.. or maybe it was the year, 1983

  • yes

  • i would have wiped out that crowd by myself.. lol

  • The crowd is crazy! He almost got tired there.

Awesome video, just shows how a band struggles to get the crowd going.

Imagine a crowd like that at a Slayer concert today.

  • hail to the king of metal

  • hail to the king of metal..........death and doom..yeahhhhhhhhhhh

  • Why would they not include that intro inside? I will never figure that out.

  • 3:17 Is my favorite part...it sounds sad but at the same time...IT SOUNDS HEAVY AS FUCK!!!

  • theres no-one at this gig. lol. They sounded well like Maiden back then. Make up involved. Wee bit embarrassing!

  • fuck, slayer the best!!!!

  • good god, i'm just so glad this vid is around for everyone to enjoy. feast your eyes upon the true masters.

  • Slayer's best song IMO. The intro, and 2.20 On is total Stained class/ Sad wings Judas Priest worship. Also notice how they go into completely different riffs for about 5-10 seconds until another rythem shift, total Mercyful Fate inspired there. Actually the whole song sounds like Judas Priest and Mercyful Fate combined with Araya on vocals.

  • yeah-they took alot from priest-if u look at these old vids u even see kerry n jeff doin the tipton/downing head bang/guitar swing

  • that fucking intro ownz.... too bad that wasn't on the album. This is a really badass video...

  • äh it is on show no mercy ^^

  • yes I know that.

  • yeah i think you mean the intro xD i have known that after i postet a comment and i was too lazy to correct it ^^ (sorry for my english I'm from germany ^^)

  • "Give a chance on the future. Entitled Crionics." Absolutely classic. I'm surprised Araya isn't quoted for such genius.

  • Crionics kicks ass !!!

  • i dont see this song as beeing a good proof on slayer was inspired by iron maiden or judas priest... i know they were but their music dosent sound any near judas or maiden... \,,/ Slayer GODS OF THRASH METAL! they started this genre man ... and they woop so much ass \,,/ Fuckin' Slayer!

  • hahahaha this is great!!! Old school slayer kicks! Really shows the extent of Hanneman/Kings guitar playing abilities! Great Musicians!

  • show no mercy is such a badass album

    slayer saves

  • the alternative intro is awesome! Nice footage!

  • the drums are fuckin awesome

  • Fangs for the KILLER post DeBruut!!!

  • One of my favourite songs from Show No Mercy album! Very powerful! But it's beginning on this video is pretty weird for Slayer...Judas Priest and Iron Maiden influences are widely seen here!

  • Their best song, no doubt..

  • rofl @ kiss dance move rip-offs. man what i'm glad they turned out the way they did instead of like this. everybody starts somewhere though. <3 slayer.

  • That kicked ass.

  • Dang DeBruut, thanks bro for posting this.

  • Best Slayer Song!

  • Hell yeah. Nice!

  • Killer Posting !! Favorite song from slayer !!

  • AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEE
