  • Superbe groupe ! Des souvenirs...

  • Ben is the guy that got the girls Ric writes about.

  • Pure, raw talent!

  • Excellent! I had the "8-track".... :-)

  • RIP BEN ORR

  • they are truly amazing. ben is a star no matter where he is. what a singer. riveting, yes.

  • Its easy to see why Rick was so threatened of Ben taking the spotlight...

  • I don't understand AT ALL how Talking Heads seemed to get more respect than these guys.

  • Terribletim was here!!!

  • epic

  • I NEVER ever thought I'd see a live version of this....thank you so much for posting....

  • The Cars are incredibly amazing!

  • My fav, with all The Cars songs out there I always end up coming back to this one..........

  • @AUDREYLYUBOV

I know what you mean, it's magical...

  • Really superb! As usual, I'm last to the party, finding out about this three decades later.

And the lady at the party last night couldnt understand why I retired in 1994.

  • I am hard-pressed to find a more musically creative band than the Cars. This music is nearly 35 years old and yet it's still compelling, even riveting. Nikisma and Pamela827522 noted Ben at about the three-minute mark, and you realize what an understated and talented front man he was for so many of the band's best early songs.

  • sax player kinda looks like ron mael.could it be? i never looked at the line up of all their names.

  • actively hostile crowd. i hope they got paid well for this gig and respect to them for not walking off stage. and our good luck taht they stayed so we have this awesome video.

  • The Cars were always spot on, I love hearing Bens live voice. Thanks for posting.

  • 3:10 when his eyes light up i am almost crying he is so beautiful. can't stop watching this video.

  • I love this live version even more than the LP. Ben is so gorgeous in the video, too. I love how he's smiling when he's singing "be all right". I was born in the wrong generation! I wasn't even 18 when Ben died, but does he drive me crazy (and my husband for different reasons all together LOL)

  • the most melodic and haunting song--seems to embody the red-lipsticked girl on the cover--from their quintessential debut.

  • What can be said. The Cars were the best Band.

  • Great music. Great band.

  • Its so great experience a band in its raw form before a record company gets a hold of them.

  • I love tha Cars saw them back in 79 it was great ! Benjamin Orr songs dominated the night I would say !

  • There is just something about Ric that I just can't get use to. The way he lurks around behind the guys and doesn't sing back up for Benjamin; He is just not very warm and fuzzy like the rest of the guys. Love Ben and Elliot! The Cars Rock!

  • I love this!! RIP Ben ..x

  • Gorgeous man RIP Benny and he's so hot here

  • MY FAVORIATES BEN R.I.P. JUST LIKE MY BROTHER BIG AMIGATIVE TALLENT ...R.I.P. RICKY .... :(......

  • I totally agree Slickjene and GonzoD3 that myaccunt talks alot of shit and pretty much knows NOTHING !!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Ben !!! Hmmmmmm

  • @myaccount4beingadumbass... I'm sorry your life is so boring..troll all you want. You must have alot of time on your hands.. Your comments don't change the fact that we love The Cars and Ben Orr. Go back under your bridge !

  • @MyAccount4TrollingU

    And you are an asshole....

  • @MyAccount4TrollingU I guess you are a loser and want some attention. Here it is. When it comes to style, you probably have none. We are talking about music here and how wonderful that he looks grate!

  • @FloresinLA "Grate" as in a cheese grater? What are you trying to say?

  • @MyAccount4TrollingU Ooooppps, ha, ha, ha, you are funny. English is myn second language, os what's your excuse to be so mean? Well, at least you are getting enough negative attention, so enjoy.

  • @MyAccount4TrollingU YOU WISH YOU HAD BEN'S HAIR! Dont freakin lie; you know it's true!

  • Anything Benjamin Orr sang got better. The man had a great ear and voice. You could give him any crap song and it would sound great by time he was done with it.

  • This was in a period of American history when it was truely great and appreciated.

  • Wow, I really love this version of the song as it gives us garage-band guys a lot of hope as this version sounds nothing like the studio recording. However, I love both versions because it's still a great song!

  • This is great, but it bugs me that Ric doesn't help out with backing vocals. It's like if he wasn't the lead singer on a song then he could be bothered.

  • @MillionthUsername I agree 150% and I voiced my disgust about it on my comment, too. I love The Cars music, especially the songs where Ben sings lead, but I love them all and am a BIG fan of Elliot Easton.

  • simply fkn beatiful!!!

  • takes me back.... got chills from the sax

  • never knew these were out there... thank you

  • one of the most unique and played American bands of all times...I never have owned ONE Cars album...didn't need to...I know every song word for word anyway

  • I can't believe the quality is so good from 1978

  • Pure talent! The '80s had the best music ever...

  • I honestly think they came from Mars. What beautiful kind of rock and roll is this!

  • Ben would have been 64 last week. 9-8-2011 RIP

  • THIS IS A STUNNING SONG......

  • Still missing you Benjamin! All these years later....RIP baby

  • Happy birthday Ben. You're still a rock god!!

  • Of all the CARS songs, THIS one is my favorite... I am glad Ben sang lead instead of Ric as the feel of the song is PERFECT for him. (On the demo version Ric sang lead) RIP Ben Orzechowski.. what a waste....

  • ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • Saw them re-united on the Colbert Report the other night. Shouldn't be called The Cars without Ben Orr, but at least they had the decency to not have a bass player..

  • bet ben got a lot of tail back in the day. he's a damn good looking man. sad the way he passed, seemed like a cool dude in his interviews and quite talented.

  • I love it when Ben is singing and he looks real introspective cuz he is thinking about his fingering. His eyes kind of wander when he is in that place of playing.

    Very Cute-

  • The early stuff was all Benjamin Orr! Rock it Boys!

  • LOVE Ben Orr!

  • Orr was to them as Dan Hartman was to the Edgar Winter Group. If you took either from the group they probably would have folded. They both played bass for the groups too.

  • what a tight live band!!!!!!!!

  • wow, better than anyone today does it!

  • This is GREAT!!!

    Miss you, BEN ORR!!

  • I'd wait for you forever Benjamin!!!

  • I love how in the studio version the weird spacey rising sound effect goes into the intro of all mixed up with the mellow guitars. it sounds otherworldly somehow.

  • @TonyfromSyracuse actually i think they recorded 'moving in stereo' and 'all mixed up', one right after another.

  • Dear Dr. Missy Johnson madison wis. have you not got my message, still in love with you Missy. It's all mixed up,

  • RIP Ben!

  • My favorite Cars song!

  • there is some thing spetial abvout this vidio . It makes the Cars sound like a garage band , and that isint all bad .I like yhe raw sound . It brings out the essance of Cars .

  • RIP Ben Orr.

  • What a voice !!!!! What a smile !!!!! I love Ben forever. Rest In Peace Benjamin.

  • That audience had no idea what they were viewing. Man, I miss this band.

  • Greg's sax solo at the end. The perfect ending to one of many amazing songs by this truly legendary group.

  • Great audio and of course great song.

  • Ben Orr was such a huge part of the band at the time, he was incredible

  • Ben was the cars period !!!!

  • @norrisw164 hell yea but Rick still is great

  • great songs, these guys really know how to play

  • Ben was just an amazing force behind the Cars success. Why was he taken. It's not fair. Love this band.

  • They were not 'punk rock' contrary to what someone else previously said.

    Benjamin.....simply the best!

  • nver thought I'd hear this song live. thanks for posting. the beginning is so dreamy especially on the studio version.

  • Brings back memories for me from 1981-83. just outta high school, dating the love of my life.........

  • is it just me or for an instant, ben looked like dakota fanning? awww fuck it. stoned again.

  • Wow. what a DEAD crowd...for what a F'N AWESOME BAND!!!!! GET WITH IT YOUNGSTERS!! HOLY SHi!T!!!

  • Anyone know how to get this show on dvd? Love it!!!

  • Anyone know how to get this show on dvd? Love it!!

  • Wow, the back up singing was terrible...

  • i love hendrix and a lot others as well and the cars are a song writers band love them ,,,,,,coldcut74

  • His lead vocals are legit....sounds so close to the original, even the high parts he absolutely nails. Love this toon and band.

  • you can see in this video what a great drummer can do for a band

  • @stevenlennon12 You cannot be serious!.. This is pedestrian drumming at best..hell you or I could do this gig blindfolded. But that was the point wasnt it?....about punkrock.. simple music, simple songs for simple minded people. I suggest you not bring up the CARS drummer in any convo about great rock drummers or you'll be laughed at bigtime.

  • lol @ and average bass player a key to success... face it, if it wasn't for Ocasek's writing and guitar licks, Cars would have fizzled.. I will agree that Orr's vocals were quite good and an integral part of their overall sound.

  • @leonakita your wrong about everything except having good songs...you can take the same song and get 5 different people and you will always get a different sound whether good or bad...i`ve heard great songs sound like crap

  • This is by far the best sound, synch and visual rendition of All Mixed Up available on the internet. Thanks for this yuffenough - you rule!!

  • perfect balance... voice, talent,.......great song....Everyone looks & sounds fine to me but Benjamin made the day & stole the show.......what a beautiful man...

  • beautiful eyes...gorgeous man

  • Ric Ocasek is no doubt a great musician, but he always struck me as a potential poster boy for an aids campaign. And you can tell these guys are wasted because the background vocals performances suck. They ruin Orr's awesome performance. I've seen them live and this sounds like they're trying to hack hairballs. Orr is his usual standout self though.

  • @tyme4mike

    .

. Ric always looked like that, he`s a classic Ectomorph. Tall, lean, thin type who cannot pack on muscle mass like a Mesomorph can.

  • highly Excellent , thank bbc

  • que buena performance ! the cars es uno de los mejores grupos surgidos en la decada del 80 , excelentes musicos.

  • Most excellent...MANY memories jamming, partying and "hanging" with my first girlfriend listening to this!!!

  • The best way to download this as an mp3 is on that site mp3iffy. Awesome site. GOOGLE mp3iffy

  • Bloody video won't work!

  • Absolutely awesome performance - takes me way back, remember hearing this album (8-track really) with some older kids we used to hang with. Witchman, make no mistake, Ben was off the hook!

  • This song Live in the Studio is awesome! Just goes to show you how Roy Thomas Baker can make a band sound! Love the Cars!

  • Ben Orr...the coolest of the coolest.

  • @witchman1 No way to say it any better.

  • Respond to this video...I have trying to define these guys in my own mind since I started listening to them when they first got popular and after listening to this song it hit me, "Tight".

  • @1danrobbins Exactly :-) The Cars Rock!

  • This song has always felt like something from a far off magical land to me...Love it.

Thanks 4 the great quality upload8)

  • GREAT performance!

Benjamin is so awesome, sexy, and handsome here!!!!

Greg's sax solo at the end has always been one of my all time favorite sax solos by ANYONE!

  • perfection........B

  • That voice is magical.

  • @ladybluluv I love watching Ben in his solo videos!! what a hottie!!

  • @101catsville don't know. i think a bunch of folks need some contacts or something.

  • Benjamin is the best looking man I've ever seen and looks nothing like that ugly Hauer.

  • I loved Ben in Blade Runner.

  • Ben is absolutely breath taking!

  • the new cars are ruining all the old cars songs!!!

  • I love the way he looks at the camera near the beginning....wooo

  • Absolutely incredible. These guys were about 25 years ahead of their time. Great song.

  • this is just so mesmerizing.

  • Comment removed

  • Ben had such a wide range to his voice. He could sing from real low to real high..like when he sings "everything will be alright". I can't even sing that high and I'm a girl. Amazing talent and man.

  • @ladybluluv

Yeah, that`s right. These guys are very talented! Great music! RIP Ben..

  • The first time I heard this song I was riding in my older brothers friends chevy van. He is bipolar. I remember glancing at him while the song was playing. It was like he was thinking about how messed up, "all mixed up" his world was. I loved this song ever since and I feel for everyone that has to deal with an illness of the mind.

  • This ban just REEKS of talent! Mis ya Ben RIP

  • A couple of Berkley school of music grads doesn't hurt! :) Great shit.

  • Ben Orr could be Rutger Hauer's long lost son. Looky!

  • What? Are you kiddin`?

  • Excellent band. Talented guys who were ahead of their time. What a great song!!

  • Very enjoyable performance. Cars videos reveal how key Orr was to their success.

  • @ScottAln05 Orr may have had the vocal talent..but there would be no good songwriting without Ocasek..did Orr even write a song?

  • @crackermantim, I am totally clueless when it comes to songwriting credits for most of the groups I enjoy. Please note I said that Orr was "key" -- not "the key." It's been a while but I believe my comment was one of surprise, I used to only credit Ocasek when thinking of The Cars. So my comment was probably just a correction of my own misconception more than anything else.

  • @crackermantim Benjamin Orr had alot to do with their success though , Listen to those vocals

  • @THECARS7879 Yes, Benjamin Orr was and will always be the Rock part of the Roll in the group. He was so multi-talented and that is why fans still love him after all these years and many won't accept The Cars without him.

  • Comment removed

  • @crackermantim No. Because Okasek had complete control of everything they did. He himself has admitted being very controlling. But as you can hear, as they matured as a Group, Ben was becoming more avant-guarde at a faster rate than the rest of them. You can hear his voice becoming more melodious and with a grater range, you can see the way he was dressing, and the songs he was singing were a lot more difficult that anything Ocasek was singing. He was the one changing and growing fater.

  • @FloresinLA uh..Rick wrote all their hits including "Drive"

  • @TheArizonaMark HI. Okasek was the one who had control of the group and the songs that got more play were the ones that Okasek was singing. I'm not contradicting you, however it seems that the one who got and gets all the credit for their success is Okasek. I like the songs that Ben sang best, because he had a better voice and grater range. In other words, he was more versatile. But like you I appreciate all of them because they made the group what it was, the cars. Have a grate day

  • @FloresinLA Point taken but didn't Ocasek write them all except for "Drive"?

  • @robfolcroft Greetings. My understanding is that Okasek wrote all of the songs and that Ben wanted to contribute to the writing and/or composition of their music. For some reason, it didn't happened and that is when Ben and the rest of the band started doing their own thing and coming together to perform as the Cars. Eventually they broke up.

  • @FloresinLA Cool. Ah, who really knows what goes on in a band though right? I think we can all agree the Cars first album is perfection. I think Hawkes was very under-rated in that band too. Greetings back!

  • If John Lennon and John Denver had a kid it would be Greg Hawkes LOL. He is awesome.

  • @FloresinLA And Elliot Easton is nothing to sneeze at :-) The Cars Rock!

  • @FloresinLA Rick wrote all the Car songs we all love, Man

  • @FloresinLA Rick also sang about 75% of their hits

  • @crackermantim He wrote all the stuff on his solo album inc "stay the night". He also added a lot of things to the cars music when ric introduced a song, he would run it by Ben first. They were together longer than anyone else in the band (milkwood)

  • I love this song. It's cool that Hawkes can also play saxophone

  • I know...right ? What can't the guy do ?

  • Yeah, he`s multi-instrumentalist. Anyway, all members are/were talented!!!!

  • Ben is basically a visual and audio dream cupcake!! He's so damn easy to look at and listen to...and yes, those red trousers are quite easy on the eyes also!!!

  • Love, love, love this song!!!! This is the song that made me a Cars fan. Benjamin's voice is just so uber-sexy when he sings this. Those tight red pants don't hurt either! Yum! RIP sweet Benjamin.
