Yes if you watch closely at 10.02 you'll see my damage increase award announced at the top left of the screen although I admit the red glow doesn't show up too well on my vid.
The DT's give the Empire a huge advantage on all the outdor maps but on maps with vehicles the Rebels can use tanks or speeder bikes to counter the DT's speed so that's something else to consider.
You have to weigh up the pros and cons of each soldier class on the particular map you're on.

There are lots of places even a Heavy Trooper can jump up the walls on this map and a sniper is even better at it.
It's a good way to move around the map quickly and height does give you an advantage over enemies but be warned you are more visible to the Snipers!
