@newbegining009 you can start now, just by sketching. All it is, is practice. Take some classes in high school. Im sure in your school they have art classes, and drawing classes. they should go all the way up to advanced. They also have Drawing classes in college too. : )
Did you have a light overall sketch of the dog before you started the detail and coloring? It looks like you are doing it as you go. Are you? This is incredible. People tell me I'm good at art, but if I show them this, they'll spit on my art. Haha.
The noaw ob the drawing is more rounder than the photos i n the pgoto the nose is longer and pointier also the forhead on the dog is more slanted etc.. theers small little things here and there. You get the idea
do you work as an illustrator? you´re very good! how long did it take for you to get this good? and do you know any internet site that sells the paper and pastel pencils that you used? i live in sweden.
I prefer Derwent pastel pencils, and faber-castel pitt pastel pencils. And I love to draw on velour paper. Soft pastels and velour go great together :)
i can draw verry good but i always draw the outlines but i never can go in details like fur. i found out that pastel is great for details like fur, or am i wrong? anyway so i want to start working with pastel. can i ask you what are the most important things i have to buy if i want to start with pastel? works?
Yes fur is great to make with pastels. If you want to start it is important that you by soft pastels and not oil pastels. The 2 are totally diffrent. I would reccomend that you start with 24 derwent pastel pencils and some velour paper. That was what I started out with when I first started in pastels 3 years ago (my first one was made 12 sep 05).
You can also use other types of pastel papers but my best choise would be velour paper. :)
thank you verry much for the reply!! and can i ask you where did you learn the technics with colors? or is it something that you "feel"? i mean if i go for a black dog i will use black but you used blue etc. and the dog you painted turned out the same dog you used as example!! i mean how do you know witch colors you are going to use to give it the same effect like in the original pic.?
If you take a look at dog fur and look closely you can se a big array of colors in it. Usually a black dog has a lot of blue and/or purple in it. This is something i've learned by looking closely at my refrence photos. I don't always know excatly what colors to use so I try diffrent ones until I get the wanted result. It's basically a bit try and error prosses every time I start on a new drawing :)
thanks a lot for the tips!!!! i am definatly going for it!! you inspired me a lot i'm going to try it and definatly going to think at the tips you gave me!! thank you verry much =)
