Absolutely amazing, absolutely brilliant! :D I had no idea that your could do this, Mother Nature never cease to amaze me! I'm gonna look up how you do this and try it all around the island I live on, thank you for the inspiration and keep it up, you go guys :D
I have two ancient cherry trees on my property, as well as managed apple orchards. Yeah, fruit trees can be a mess, but I don't see how in densely populated city. People are hungry! For those of us in rural areas, the deer, coyotes, and black bears take care of windfall. BUT, I can see how grafting would be GREAT in suburbs, too--graft a couple of branches onto an ornamental, and you don't have an overwhelming amount of produce--just enough! Brilliant!
SO AWESOME! I'm a gorilla gardener on a small scale but grafting cuts the time it will take for the trees to bare fruit. Good on ya'll beautiful work.
I think that's pretty awesome. The issues with the rats or whatever shouldn't really be a concern for the city. In exchange for a little extra maintenance by the landscapers that are already maintaining these areas, they're providing free food! This should help a lot of people!
I've heard that one of the big reasons that people feel like their allergies are going crazy these days, more than, say, a decade ago, is that city designers Only plant male trees and plants in cities, so they wont have the mess of fallen fruit (female plants). So the pollen is everywhere, but no fruit...anyway, this is to explain why cities don't often have fruit-bearing trees around
The important part of this is getting people to take ownership of the trees. I've had a pear tree and we'd get tons of rotten, fallen pears that needed to be collected and trashed. That said, I love this idea and am glad they are doing this.
very nice.cities should make it mandatory to plant fruit or keystone species only.also owners of idle sites inside cities may be given a subsidy to grow some vegetables and fruits.
Cool......I thought they might do that naturally in nature.....

If you take a seed from any fruit it can be grafted into any tree. Enjoy the fruits of your labor. David A. Puchta

@gayraw Are you referring to the city planners or the Guerilla Grafters?
UniversalTruths 2 months ago
@gayraw , grafting is a fundamental of many civilizations' fruit growing practices, for the sake of cloning, consistent higher quality that is.

@amandajoost ? You do realise that flowers have both male and female parts right?

It works. We should have done this years ago! People WILL eat fruit if it was right outside their doors.
