Thanks for the review there arn't too many out there and this product has been around for several years now. But pleeeease never say PEACHY KEEN again!....lol....
I have a spare ipod touch so thinking of using the air mouse app instead of this... How do you think this compares to air mouse mattarr? (there is a free version in the app store)
I personally like having an actual keyboard. I haven't used Air Mouse but the pro version does look pretty interesting. The nice thing about having the keyboard is that it is dedicated. If you are running this on your phone other people in your house will need to have the same app or you will need to buy an iPod Touch which is even more expensive than the keyboard.
Mousing, and videoing, and talking at the same time. Quite talented.
I got the Dinovo Mini for our Mac Mini home theatre system. Very useful. Previously I had to get to it with screen sharing. The Dinovo works well in the living room environment.
The IR LED is for the pointer, so the controller can point to something on the screen and click on it. Bluetooth communicates the controllers to the Wii itself. If you play a game that doesn't require pointing, such as Super Mario Bros., you can unplug the IR sensor bar, and you can still play the game :)
He's right, I have a Wii too and can confirm that it DOES use Bluetooth. The sensor bar is ONLY for pointing. I also have a Bluetooth keyboard that I use with my Wii and I surf on the Internet Channel. For someone who reviews technology, you don't seem to know much about Nintendo products. I own a Wii, Xbox360, and PS3 and know them all pretty well.
I used my glue gun to carefully add a "nipple" to the slide switch that toggles the track pad from mouse to arrows. Now I can easily toggle the track pad with my thumb. Those three little bumps Logitech uses were hard for me to use. Not enough height. I bought mine at Amazon, $119.
Just got my DiNovo Mini, and it will not pair with my Mac Mini for some reason. The OSX bluetooth set up assistant opens and looks for a wireless mouse; the dinovo is set to discoverable, (red bluetooth logo flashes)- yet nothing. What's missing here?
Mac System Preferences > Bluetooth. Set to "Discoverable" and select "Set Up New Device". Press the Red button in the DiNovo battery compartment. The Mac will find the DiNovo. Click "Continue". The Set Up Assistant will display an 8 digit number. Type this number (no spaces) into the DiNovo Mini and click the "Enter" key on the DiNovo. The Mac BT setup should now pair up successfully and the DiNovo can now be used with your Mac.
thanks! Working fine now. After some use, I think Logitech should combine the DiNovo Mini and the Hamony One into a single uber-controller. The best of both worlds.
Thanks for the vid, I have a friend that uses the mini-KB on a PC for movies, etc., and I wanted to set up a Mac Mini to do the same, and got turned off by the Logitech site, but your video convinced me to buy it. Any problems so far, or it's been doing what you want?
True, but if you made a product that worked with another computer system that has a rapidly growing user base it makes zero sense to not at least say it works, but that the layout is different.
so how far apart can you use it, because i plan to use my imac from a different room which will be connected to the tv. The rooms are apart by a single wall. Right behind the tv is the room where my imac os located., so i guess 6-10 ft apart.
I would say it functions fairly well, but not as well as a regular track pad. With that said, it is no where near as large as a regular track pad. But I still think this is the best mouse/keyboard combination.
I only wish Logitech would actually come out with a combination of the diNovo Mini and a Harmony remote -- that would be the ultimate gadget for every media center...!!
Cool video. I just got one and it won't pair with my white July '08 MacBook. At first the Mac wouldn't even find the device, but I fixed that by power cycling the diNovo. But now when prompted to enter the PIN the MacBook doesn't seem to detect that I've entered it. I have calls in to AppleCare and to Logitech about the issue.
Hey thesimpaticos, Sorry to hear it isn't working with your macbook. First things first, do NOT use the dongle that comes with the diNovo. Your MacBook already has bluetooth, so we will use that. One thing to make sure you do is hit enter after entering all the numbers. I will try to pair the diNovo with my MacBook when I get back from work to day, I'll tell you how to do it step by step then. Best of luck until then!
Thanks Matt! I style myself a computer expert and yet forgot to hit the enter key after entering the PIN code - I feel like such a moron. Now it's working like a champ. Thanks again.
The important thing is that you got it working. Believe me, it's the small details that will screw you up every time! Good to hear you got it working!
Many thanks for your video. It convinced me to buy one, and it just came today. You were right... It works perfectly. Oh, and the range is just fine. My setup is much like yours... and my couch is across the room from my 42" plasma TV and Mac Mini. No range issues at all. You gotta love OS X!
Anyone got the BT-dongle logitech gave us with the dinovo to work in OSX? I have the same setup with a mini, but the range on this is awful.. 2-3 meters away and i get an unresponsive dinovo.. my wireless mighty mouse does maybe 3 or 4 meters,, and i think it's becourse of the internal bluetooth-antenna. In Ubuntu using the dongle i had perfect connection in my whole apartment,
They probably will considering that it is such an awesome piece of kit. Then again, when they release it it will have a few buttons changed around for the mac and will cost MSRP. Meanwhile, this works just fine and you can get it TODAY.

YES! I got wood when I heard this thing existed, then I just got pissed when I heard it didn't support OS X. Based on your review alone I'm out buying one today.
Logitech wants to make money. To be able to make money, they NEED that windows button. Microsof knows that so Microsof demands NO support for mac or they cant have their little windows-button on their diNovo Mini. But Microsof and Logitech didnt foresee the cleverness of the Mac OSX supporting 99,9 % of the periferals you throw at it. Same as with my ISP; no mac-support ! Crap because it works very well actually. The Mac Rulez even if they dont give us their support !

Yes they do, but I haven't done much testing with them. For instance, in DVD Player and OSXBMC they do work, in VLC you probably have to fuddle with the keymapping (within VLC) to get them to work.
All in all, if you thought about buying this but wanted FULL support I just say go for it. The damn thing works and it ROCKS.

Will this work with the Nintendo Wii? It uses bluetooth for the controllers and has a sync button.

Make sure you are NOT using their dongle. Your Mini has bluetooth built in, so that should work fine.
When you do get around to typing the number into the keyboard, remember to hit ENTER. Very important.
