what lens should i buy for this camera, a good all-rounder that focuses well, takes wide narrow angles?

@suscribe4more The 18-55mm usually comes along with the camera, so you'll get two lenses. The 50mm is indeed a better lens but it only covers one focal length, so it shouldn't be the only lens you got. Do a search on youtube for "50mm f1.8 test footage" or similar. It is very difficult to keep things in focus with the 50mm, though, but it gets easier after a while.

@onlyBIZZAR No, that was with a wideangle lens. I would strongly recommend you to buy a 50mm, you have to decide if it's 1.4 or 1.8. The 1.8 is so darn cheap and is the best bang for the buck, but it have a very small focus ring. It's also made of plastic. If you plan on using rigs with followfocus, buy the 1.4 as it have wider focus ring and is generally better built.

So:

Just starting: Buy the 50mm 1.8

Going to get / Have shoulderrigs etc: 50mm 1.4

@HDMAN2012 Thanks! As mentioned in the discription, I didn't use a program but a plugin called Magic Bullet Looks. This is a plugin you can get for Final Cut Pro, Premiere, Sony Vegas and others. I highly recommend it. I do not recommend to just use the default presets in it though, experiment and get your own look.

@DylanW216 Setting varied from shot to shot. I used the standard kit 18-55 f3.5 on most of the clips and 50 mm f1.8 on close ups..
