@brokok17 the only part that hurt was the IV itself, the medicine didn't hurt. :) and it is very expensive, about $4000 a treatment, i think, but i have insurance so the co-pay was more like $40 each time.
@leviathan85 i get a TB skin test once a year, as the medicine pretty much kills my immune system. i've also gotten a couple chest xrays. however, i didn't get either done every treatment, just periodically.
my son is 11 1/2 years-old who has Crohn's....he was diagnosed on January 27, 2009 @ the age of 10...he was only 90 pounds. He's a fighter....Keep up the positive attitude sweetie..here comes a hug from a mom in Florida!

Thanks for sharing the video and your story. I'm starting Remicade next week for AS (ankylosing spondylitis) and psoriatic arthritis. Pretty much at the end of my rope with all the pain, and *really* miss my active lifestyle ... so I'm hoping for the best with this treatment. I know there are side effects for some people (nausea, trouble breathing, et al), but I'm gonna think positive ... it's gonna go great. I hope!
@Hillsillverr well we have what we call muscle trauma (if the plebotomist doesn't know how to inject) but its not that big deal. he trauma will just normally go away
yes, i have all mine done at an out-patient clinic that is part of a larger hospital. i don't mind it because the staff are fantastic and i feel very comfortable there.
Gotta youtube poop this video with the rest of others.

Did they do a TB skin test or chest xray before giving you the remicade? Thanks for posting the video and I hope you're doing well.

Hope the skin was cleaned first, no sign of a sterile dressing and vacutainers??
embroidnurse 2 years ago
it was cleaned before the video was started. so yes, everything is sterile, etc.

I receive a weekly IV infsuion of Prolastin.
I have a genetic disease called Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Deficiency.
My SIL does the Remicade Infusions for Crohn's also.
Do you do all your infusions at the hospital?
I do mine at home - I only did one at the hostipal - my first - I prefer home.
