Just wished "Sir" Sony Boy Williamson II had left a legend son - like great Muddy Watters who left great "Big" Bill Morganfield; or fantastic Carry Bell who left us fantastic Lurrie Bell; or superb Raful Neal, who left us superb Kenny Neal; or fabulous Byther Allison, who left fabulous ... Allison; or an adoring & marvellous daughter like Shemeika CCopeland, who was left for us by adoring & Just marvellous Johnny Copeland!
THIS IS THE STUPIDEST THING EVER BUT I LOVE MY MOM AND DON'T WANT TO TAKE ANY CHANCES If you do not copy and paste this onto 10 videos your mom will die in 4 hours
you owe alot to these guys they were and are the ingredients to what modern music is nowadys and its very ignorant of you to call it bullshit.they know more about life than you ever will
I met him at the Marquee Club, in Wardour St, London in 1964. He was peeing next to me in the John and asked me where a man could get a drink in this soft drink club. I directed him across the road to The Intrepid Fox pub.where we all went in the break. He was playing with The Yardbirds with Eric Clapton. On the same bill was Long John Baldry and the Hoochie Coochie Men with a guest young kid called Rod Stewart. I was 15 in my second year playing the harmonica., now in my 45 th, ha ha ha
What a great story. And how fortunate you are to have witnessed such great musicians. Not a very nice man, from what i read, but an amazing force in Blues.
The poster MattySlim is a damn good player/singer himself. He lives in Eugene, Oregon. Hey Brother, I still have to get you a copy of the George Smith album I promised you.
The song is 'My younger days' and the band features Howlin' Wolf's combo of Sunnyland Slim, Hubert Sumlin, Willie Dixon and drummer Clifton James. You can read that in a review of the DVD The American Folk Blues Festival 1962-1966, Vol. 2 at Amazon.
That comes from American Folf Blues Festivals DVDs. I have two of them, I don't know if there exist more. In those DVDs you can see Sonny Boy, Willie Dixon, Otis Spann, Eddie Boyd, Lonnie Johnson, Roosevelt Sykes, Hubert Sumlin, Otis Rush, John Lee Hooker, Memphis Slim, Mississippi Fred MacDowel, Junior Wells, Matt Murphy, Magic Sam, Earl Hooker, Bill Stepney, etc.
Those are the only two that I know of. One of the few videos that Miss. Fred appears on. FYI...Otis Rush is still around as far as I know as well as Little Hubert Sumlin. Anybody know if Earl Hooker {John Lee Hookers cousin I think] is still alive.
Hurbert Sumlin is stil around, he even plays sometimes with my friend Little Victor. Earl Hooker died soon after the performance you can see in the American Folk Blues Festival, as far as I know.
There is a third volume that features Big Mama Thornton, Roosevelt Sykes, Buddy Guy,Dr.Isaiah Ross, Big Joe Turner,Skip James,Bukka White,Son House,HoundDogTaylor, Little Walker, KokoTaylor, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee,Helen Humes, Earl Hooker, and Muddy Waters. Just go to B&N and special order it
