sorry got cut off :) the book is Natural Choices for Women's Health by Dr. Laurie Steelsmith. Just wanted to pass that on to you! Thanks again for the awesome vid.
Awesome video, I can relate a lot to what you said regarding naturopaths and experiences with shying away from the more westernized medicine approach. I am so thankful for my upbringing and my Mom educating me on all sorts of alternative healing. Anyways... I have read or want to read quite a few on your list, and some were new to me, so thanks! I will have to scope out my library and see what I can get my hands on. Also, a book that I just picked up used that seems like an excellent resource is
You might enjoy the book "Real Food for Mother and Baby: The Fertility Diet, Eating for Two, and Baby's First Foods". I will check out some of your recommendations!
I use fertility friend as well- I think we all do :) We have such a similar experience with our careers as nursing assistants. I too worked in a hospital and that is where my pre-req's for RN stopped. I just couldn't stand how nurses have become these days. (Not all of course) I just couldn't see myself getting so calloused an cold. It seems that conventional medicine doesn't always 'look at their patient'. They just treat symptoms. I am right there with you on the midwife idea!! :)
@brittanykay22109 Brittany, I hear you and really appreciate your perspective. Hospitals are just such big businesses, it seems like it's almost impossible to be a "good" nurse and give quality care under the conditions. My mom was an RN, and I aspired to the old kind of nursing, like you said. My personal philosophy on health & healthcare has evolved to where I just feel that simple is often best.
Definitely check out Baby Catcher if you haven't already! :)
@katulka2 I think the biggest thing that I found a problem with was the concept of pain at the hospital. If someone was in pain, everyone turns to drugs. What about body positioning? A hot or cold pack? Pillows? A warm bath? Massage? Aromatherapy? Soothing music? Sure it sounds far fetched, but comfort measures like that DO make a difference and they are not that hard. Sure drugs are important and useful, but I just feel they are pushed too often! It all goes back to moderation.
@brittanykay22109 Just saw these comments now... I totally agree! Let's start with basic CAREgiving, and then look at more invasive options when that fails.

Oh- and my mom is a Respiratory Therapist. She still works at the hospital I came from:) So it's funny you mention that your mother is a nurse.
