Let's just hope Gerrard finally performs for England when it matters. He has been a major let down in euro2004, world cup2006 and the disastrous qualifying campaign for euro2008 and he's got nothing to be cocky about. He can be like that for Liverpool and it works but he fails all the time for England and hopefully won't this time.

It's a little worrying in an interview i saw the other day he said he thinks his form of late has been good. I recall his latest games include him setting up Drogba for a goal and he ain't exactly his teammate is he? and Liverpool's last game of the season, they failed to beat Hull City.

gerrad has been mediocre this season. usually he's enough to drag liverpoo along but his dip in form (from near demi-god status) is evident by liverpools current position. i wud still play carrick and gerrad in the middle but rio for capt.

Josieuk2003, u are a moron so dont bother wishing for it. Gerrard is clearly a better candidate than ferdinand, how can you say that he plays better football than gerrard when ferdinand makes at least one vital mistake per game that makes the rest of the team have to cover for him? Ferdinand is captain of a good team and has won trophies, that is true. But Gerrard has captained a far worse side to winning just as much.

I am a kopite so i would obviously want stevie g as cap but i belive he works off of the support of the fans and the reliance of the squad. in england he dosnt have this. everyone thinks there better than everyone and i dont think gerrard spesificly preforms well having to fight for his fav position concidering he gets pretty much what he needs at liverpool

Can't have Gerrard and Lampard fannying about in the midfeld both thinking they are Matt Le Tissier wandering around wherever they fancy hitting potshots, Gerrards best position has always been in front of the back four! Lampard can't play there anyway! Keep Gerrard in the middle and make him play more defensively! Either that or pair him with Carrick! But last night he gave possession away no end of times!
