Victoria does NOT need more land-based sewage treatment plants, because our current, marine-based sewage treatment system, together with source controls, works very well.

Our system benefits both our land and our marine environment, unlike a land-based system which will not make any positive difference to our marine environment but will create thousands of tons of sewage sludge and greenhouse gases.

There is so much fail in the above comment that I really shouldn't respond. Sooke is a great community with modest home prices compared to the rest of the region. People are buying them, so how are they "overpriced?" And I don't know about the "wet fungus infestation" that he's talking about, it's been weeks without rain here! Oh, and bravo for picking on the real estate profession, no one saw that coming!

About five years ago a female politician in Sooke was fired for mentioning the very fact that Sooke has more wet weather than any other part of the southern Island. There is nothing out there except unemployment, and a cow path to Victoria. The houses are cheap because the land out there has no value. Even a person retiring should not consider living in the Sooke area, it simply isn't a place for human inhabitation.

Move to Sooke and get your car stolen. Sooke is a wet fungus infested area of Canada which is famous for over priced homes and no employment opportunitys. This guy is a real estate guy trying to make a buck, so he fails to tell you the truth.
