HP Envy 14 Spectre first look - CES 2012

What a stunning laptop ! I have the last generation envy 17, I have a great desktop replacement. Now I need to go out and buy the Spectre for portability and awesome battery life. Apple fans, try hacking down this laptop and tell me if it stills looks like a MP. Glass lid, glass palm rest, awesome battery, awesome internals and stunning looks, MP has nothing on it. I read a comment a while ago that says, Hp will never learn. I beg to differ, THEY LEARN WITH THE NEW SPECTRE !!

I Use This Laptop To Prove That Mac Is Not In Any Way "Over Priced" Because Is Has The Same Features And Quality Of My 13 Macbook Pro... What It Comes Down To is Personal Preferance Of Your OS... I And Most Of My Clients Prefer Mac OSX For Its Convience And User Interface. But In No Way Is It The Best Computer Out There.

@ReadWipedInBlue yes I agree with you. It all has to do with preferance, period! I'm not trying to hack dowm mac but I'm sick and tired of hearing mac vs pc like they are the maker behing MB. I think MB are great machine, it's just not for me. I think it's more of a buisiness laptop. I think it would be rediculous to pick a MB over an envy for gaming and entertainment. Vice versa, it's stupid to pick an envy for buisiness over MP. It's what you need in your laptop is important.

I own the HP Envy 173D I got last april and all I have to say is, I hope they fixed the airflow of this Envy. This laptop get's HOT when gaming. When I say hot, I mean "oh shit, that burned a little". A HUGE downfall after paying nearly 2 grand for it. Only good thing is the warranty lasts till April of 2013.

I have the 14" with an i7 - got it for the quad core.

Not sure WTF u are using the 17 for.. and hopefully not on the pillow top.

My complaint is not that it gets hot - its when in ful use the fan goes off and its not quiet.

@jabberwolf I'm using it for gaming, music and video production and other stuff. I have it set on my desk, lifted up, for more air circulation but it still shuts off every once in a while. I got it because it's a beast when it comes to gaming but because of improper cooling, I can't use it to it's full potential. Mine also get's loud and too got the i7.

@MrAveryGarrett Part of the Ultrabook thing is a focus on heat management. They aren't supposed to get hot and HP were very keen to point out how cool the base was even though it had been on all day. We'll test that properly thought when we get it in our labs

Ok it looks like a macbook but a macbook looks like nothing, it is neutral, at least hp have put a beat volume swivvel, glass back and other cool things, and at least they are showing their stuff in CES.

Really nice looking thing. Laptops looking to get back into vogue or simply a last throw of the dice before tablet well and truly take over? I'd like to hear people's thoughts on that.
