lol my parents had an 89 pontiac Bonneville had it till i was about 20 my sister wore the car out i loved the thing it had no airbags and the only thing that kept you from flying through the window was praying before you left the parking lot. my mom always had me in the front seat safest place in that car lol dash board was huge

I really dislike inattentive drivers, my mother was hit by an inattentive driver (luckily she lived) because the driver wasn't watching the road and in defence of my generation, I'm 24, I learned to ride a bike without a helmet and I never have worn one since.

I can so relate to Brad on the bike helmet ordeal. My parents never bought me a helmet to wear, and I never regretted them not doing them. The reason is because if I crashed my bike or fell off my bike, it was my own fault and I should have been more careful. Plus, wearing a helmet wouldn't have worked regardless because none of my bike related incidents ever occured with me hitting my head on the ground.

I got whiplash and a concussion from an airbag that went off for no reason--was in the hospital for three days. Then, later on in life, I got into an accident and flipped the car and the airbag didn't go off at all.

The metaphor is socially relative. The reason we need things like air bags are because most people in today's society are terrible drivers who don't have any common courtesy or respect for others while on the road. What he is saying is air bags are a symptom of the condition of our society, where personal responsibility means nothing anymore.
