  • the simpsons rofl

  • cominroitover80: What in the world are you talking about?! There is no confusing what Judy sounds like when she sings. It is pure female greatness.

  • why weren't all these guys fighting?

  • Judy is my Valentine :>)

  • Guard: CLANG CLANG CLANG!!!

Guy: Went the Trolleeeeey!!! *Jazz Hands*

Guy: No, I just like musicals!!

    lol lol

  • @YC3tv muhahah YES !!!! :O wheres ur sandles and fruity drink?:D

  • is it me or does she sound like a gay man?

  • @cominroitover80 it's you.

  • @cominroitover80 Its you.

  • @cominroitover80 definitely you.

  • @kimbadizzle keep in mind i dont mean that as a bad thing. Gay men can have incredible voices {freddy mercury, Rob Halford} as does she. but she just sounds like a 20 something gay man.

  • @cominroitover80 To you.

  • Is that Lionel Barrymore driving the trolley?

  • No thanks bus driver!!! I'm waiting for the TROLLEY!!!

  • Oh well she was good in that movie where she wanted to fly over the rainbow and the talking scarecrow the man robot witches minature people and whatnot but man she was a good actress in her other MGM films not just one she was terrific in a star is born her daughter Liza Minnelli is known more for her films but in Meet me in St.Louis and A child is waiting and all her more serious films she shows such vulnerability ......yes I will admit even in The Wizard of Oz she was good too.

  • All joking aside yes dear Judy was a good singer without a doubt there is no question about she was beautiful as well doe eyed etc. but she is an underrated actress yes she was good in that movie about hmm I can't remember what's it called with that little girl and the pigtails and the red sparkly shoes and the dog and witches and hmm "I wonder" what's it called oh well..Judy was terrific in all her films and especially a star is born wow she should have won the oscar for that

  • How could she have ever thought she wasn't beautiful? Stupid people in Hollywood. She was absolutely gorgeous and more than just talented. A total shame what happened to her.

  • @shawnielee1976 I agree. She was extremely beautiful and it's sad that Hollywood tore her apart due to the stereotypes :(

  • @shawnielee1976 Well her physical beauty was only altered in The Wizard Of OZ to appear 12 she was 16 at the time but after that she was not considered pretty and the head of MGM Louis B.Mayer made her get an abortion at 20!! so technically Liza Minnelli is her middle child but you know its sad but hey after she got older she took control of herself I just hope poor Britney Spears gets control over her career.

  • I know everybody knows about the buzzer flub she made, so with some imagination, can anybody find anything on that Trolley that could qualify as a 'Buzzer'?

  • @kingofpointless When the song was written in the 1940s, a modern streetcar (tramcar) of that time may have had a buzzer to indicate to the Motorman you wished to alight at the next stop. In the period of this film however, circa 1900, that indication would probably have been a bell on a string or rope that ran throughout the car. So I think we should blame the lyricist. :D

  • I don't know about anyone else, but when I'm in a spaceship full of annoying people headed into the sun, I'm going to be singing this song.

  • @ijustreview i enjoy this comment so much

  • This song describes how I felt when I first saw Ryan Gosling in the notebook, except we weren't on a trolley. And my collar wasn't starched, I wasn't wearing high top shoes, and my hair wasn't piled high up on head. And he wasn't wearing a light brown derby or a bright green tie.

  • A star, one of the best, always a star, and that vice makes me melt

  • She was so pretty!

  • M-G-M sent scouts to St. Louis to research the history of the Fair and got everything right, including the name of "Skinker Swamp." The depiction of the Fair in the closing scenes of the film were based on a visit to St. Louis to view the steps and lamplights in Forest Park by the World's Fair Pavilion (all still there!). Regarding someone calling out Judy's name, that is exactly what happened. During the recording of the number an extra was to have called out "Esther" but said "Judy."

  • 2:45 "howdy judy!" LMAO

  • @wattever333 it's johnny, not judy... her love interest that boards the trolley at the end

  • Screw the Von Trapp family I wan't to be a part of the Smith family this family.

  • @cinderelmo yeah cuz if u were a part of this family, you would get the guy and not a new step-mother ;)

  • @justloveher100 Oh I get you ,you mean cause in the von trapp family they got a new stepmother the governess or Maria Von trapp is that what you mean well anyways Maria Von trapp the singing nun has nothing on Ester Smith. Meet Me in St.louis rocks it beats The sound of Music. Smiths are better than the von trapp and at least they didn't almost get killed by nazis. Judy Garland is way better than Julie Andrews. Dorothy beats Mary Poppins.

  • @cinderelmo I dont really know what you were arguin about but I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU :)

  • @TheWiwiee No I am not arguing I am just saying that the von trapp's are an overrated singing family but I would rather be a part of this family the smith family their songs are better have yourself a merry little Christmas, the trolley song, boy next door the smiths are way better and less annoying then the von trapps in my humble opinion.

  • @cinderelmo alright, and i totally agree! cuz Judy Garland and this movie is simply awesome :)

  • They sing this song at Disney World... I do not know why because this movie has no relations to disney. But I loved hearing it!

  • LOVE this movie!!!

  • Judy 4ever! :-D

  • <3 i love judy! :) <3

  • OMG she was beautiful and that voice she was the full package. So sorry she had such a sad end.

  • The smell of honeysuckle charmed you off you're feet ---> The smell of honeysuckle charmed you off YOUR feet

  • The past had Judy Garland.......Today we have Justin Bieber!!!! Tell me that we are not in massive decline......................

  • @floresebu You mean Justin Beaver

  • What a fantastic lyric.

I don't generally like musicals but, the writing is fantastic.

  • 3:06 Go, Sergeant Pepper!

  • Love this! Thanks!

  • What movie is this?

  • @kaysam67 Meet Me In St. Louis !

  • Don't ever remember seeing this... Put the past mouths I''ve had the bang bang bang part stuck in myhead

  • Since I take a trolley nearly every day (#34 -Baltimore Avenue Line - Trolley from University City to Center City Philadelphia) I always think of this song. Yes there are still trolleys that go "clang, clang, clang" even in the 21st Century!

  • elvis duran<3

  • If I ever go on a trolley, or Train..I am playing this song...

  • pure perfection wasnt she!

  • Judy Was always beautiful in every way. Being different is what makes any person beauitful. I love her unique face.

  • MEET ME IN ST LOUIS IS A GOOD CHRISTMAS MOVIE.

  • That was the cutest ending to any song. ever.

  • I wish taking the bus these days was as fun as that damn trolley.

  • she is so captivating, i don't think i blinked once while watching this. adorable song and she looks like a doll.

  • Why every JUDY GARLAND movies in TECHNICOLOR !!!!

  • @conangvuitinh193 Not all Judy Garland movies are in Technicolor. Many of her movies during her teen years are in black and white.

  • One of my fave movies. and I am only 13.

  • Nobody could put over a song like Judy! She is so full of life in this clip and yet, from what we know of her struggles, she must have been able to summon up all this energy for the sake of entertaining her public. Amazing!

  • @MinstrelSurfer She was in her early 20's at the time of filming. Still young, vibrant, healthy with a beautiful sweet singing voice. When it's time to performing, it's a natural for her.

  • One of my favorite movies... brings back fond memories... thank you.

  • Very good!

  • She's so cute! I <3 Judy Garland.

  • hillary swank really looks like her.

  • @xxNichi Well notous!!

  • Love how she just plays it cool at the end

  • shes so beautiful. idn how she for even a second thought she was ugly

  • @lmw7987 watch?v=SFe8hQWqqrM....I don't think Judy is necessarily ugly here, but this was one film where she felt very unattractive. You can tell when she sings with the other Ziegfeld Girls that she is not traditionally pretty, but there's something about her that is. I always said Judy looked better with long hair, it just suited her better. Considering she had this beautiful long hair in Meet Me in St Louis, she was very young (21), and the movie was in color, it just made her look gorgeous.

  • @millers3888 I actually think Judy Garland looked very pretty in Ziegfeld Girls.

Back in the old days, most girls had short curly hair because it was a fashion. Judy Garland's natural hair style is short and curly. If she had long hair in a movie, it means she's wearing a wig. Short and long hair seems to suit her though.

  • @saolili She was pretty, but she wasn't a knockout. She could've been, but she was made up poorly by MGM. Her looks blossomed when she did Presenting Lily Mars because, in my opinion, she looks much better with long hair. In Ziegfeld Girls, the clip I posted I thought made her look kinda awkward. Not just the hair but the outfit, and she's very thin. There were a few moments in Ziegfeld Girls where I thought she looked pretty, and each one to me was with her long hair. Just an opinion though lol

  • @millers3888 She never had long hair in her life though. Her long hair in Meet Me in St. Louis doesn't look natural, maybe it's the way they did it. Long hair looked really good on her when she was Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz.

She did look thin in Ziegfeld Girls, but she probably looks the same in many movies during her 20's if she didn't have too much covering.

  • @saolili She had longer hair during the 40's, until it started falling out. And in my opinion, the 40's were her prime for her looks (directly related to her hair). In A Star is Born, she would've looked a ten times better with long hair. In The Wizard of Oz she looked great. She should've kept the long hair style. Long hair like it is today wasn't the style, but she could've had long brown hair like Lana Turner's long blonde hair. Again this is all my opinion. And you're right about her weight.

  • @millers3888 Her hair was definately too short in A Star is Born, maybe they could've done it a bit longer to make her look younger.

Lana Turner was tall, so long hair suited her. Short curly hair styles like Betty Grable and Marilyn Monroe tended to attract men in the olden days though.

  • Do trolleys still exist?

  • @ricardogutierrezable hell yea trollys do.i got em in my town.Milwaukee, WI

  • @ricardogutierrezable Yes they still do.

  • she is RADIANT, oh my goodness

  • I was in St Louis once. Terrible place. Just ghettos and bums.

  • It's so sad she died early, but I'll always remember Rudy Garland.

  • @musiclovinggurl123 ...Judy.

  • @YougotFacepalm lol fail typo

  • This was considerably before I was even born but what a voice, she is amazing.

  • Next time I go to the train station and ask for a ticket, when the man asks to where, I'm going to sing "TO THE EEEEEND OF THE LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE!!!!!!!"

  • @Messylin Lmao

  • I just wish they hadn't plucked her eyebrows so much...

  • Thumbs up for Big and Carrie!

  • I'm here for the simpsons

  • This is my favorite song! <3

  • lovely...

  • Give the bully an extra point...

  • clank clank clank went the trolley! ding ding ding went the bell! I love this song!

  • Wow the idea of beauty went REALLY downhill!

  • 1:13 "I was pretty sure I wasn't in Oz anymore until everyone was singing again."

rofl xD Good song, btw. I've actually never seen this movie, but I quite enjoy songs that sound like they're from musicals. :)

  • So superbly directed and acted. whenever I feel bad about the world, I watch this clip with this catchy song of a more innocent world with the divine Judy--and I feel immediately better!!!

  • i wonder why judys the only lady on the trolley without a kickass hat

  • @stephen417warner HMM I wonder to um I think it's because its to make her stand out in this scene , its a method director's often use in their films to make their main characters stick out more for ex: belle in beauty in the beast in the beginning was the only person wearing blue , plus the director of this film Vicente Minnelli , Judy's future husband ,wanted to make Judy's beauty stand out , I think she even said this was the only movie she ever felt/looked beautiful in.

  • Really though as cute as she is you can't help but notice little

nuances that let you know THIS CHICK IS A NUTJOB.

It would take HITCHCOCK to prepare you for a DATE with her,

'cause she was a bona fide PSYCHO.

BUT the movie is innocent enough. Just make believe she's

    normal til the video's over.

  • @GooglFascists Although she certainly had emotional problems, what "little nuances" do you see in this particular scene that indicate that Judy is a nutjob or a psycho?

  • Did you ever see a flash mob singing? We could do this too, people!

  • alright at 1:36 the guys wearing a blue tie, but at 1:53 she says it was green... mabey she was color blind :O

  • listening to this make me wish i could sing... :/

  • @Crazikia319 Don't let that stop you!

  • 9 people disliked this? Seriously? I don't want to live in this world any more if Judy isn't appreciated by everyone.

  • @NickyLess, maybe they just don't like the song? :P

  • SHE LOOKS SO PRETTY HERE

  • I can't find this movie anywhere! I want to watch it

  • @1034cubs I found one at hastings.

  • this scene was in the sec and city movie :))

  • i want to ride that trolley, they're so insync with the chorous is beautiful :D yay for trolley rides with the late great judy garland

  • i saw this when iwas watching sex and the city the movie carrie watched

  • "I'm SOoo confused!!" Is the guy running for the trolley in the beginning supposed to be the same guy at 2:57 and the one sitting w/her at the end? They have different suits and ties!

  • @sintrade the guy at 2:57 isn't the same guy as the one in the beginning and end, who IS the same guy. He's just another passenger.

  • +1 if family guy brought you here

  • 10 likes and I will sing this on the bus tomorrow. (:

  • @gotioo well you better youtube it and remember all the lyrics please and thanx :D

  • @gotioo looks like you're singing it a couple of times

  • @gotioo I bet you never done it...

  • @gotioo What happened when you sang it then?

  • @gotioo Did you do it?

  • is it just me or does that trolley look very unsafe

  • @robeyb92 LOVE THIS SONG I ALWAYS SING THIS SONG TO MY PRESCHOOLER AND MY ALL TIME MOVIE

  • @robeyb92 Not surprisingly, there were many trolley related deaths back in them days.

  • @stephen417warner I'm pretty sure it's "HEY JOHNNY!" but it does sound a lot like 'HEY JUDY!' haha

Also am I the only one to notice that she rarely, if ever, blinks? I know stars were told not to blink as much when the camera was on them but jeez haha she takes it to a completely different level! I love her :)

  • @rere1205 lol no way dude i listened to it 14 times over its most definitly HEY JUDY pay attention to her facial expressions lol but ur right she blinks like twice o.O

  • @rere1205 I notice in many movies that Judy Garland doesn't blink much.

  • LOL omg she did get scared half to death, 2:44 - 2:50 someone yells HEY JUDY! and im pretty sure thats not her name in this cinematic flick

  • LOL omg she did get scared half to death, 2:44 someone yells HEY JUDY! and im pretty sure thats not her name in this cinematic flick

  • Was Technicolor ever more beautifully saturated than in this song sequence? And putting Garland in black only serves to highlight her hair and her complexion. Vincent Minnelli was quite a director.

  • Judy Garland was an angel. Beautiful white lady. Honestly. And, her voice!!!!!!!!!!! JESUS!!!!!!!

  • Is the guy at 2:57 supposed to be the same guy at the very end? If so, what happened to his bow tie? ha

  • @sintrade It's still there, but it's tucked into his suit instead of flapping around when he was running to catch the trolley earlier.

  • '' I started to know how it feels

    When the universe reels'' superb.

  • Judy Garland was beautiful. I was really born in the wrong era!!

  • such a sweet film !!!

  • everytime i hear this song , i think of judy up in heaven Teaching all the Angels how to sing on The Trolly :) and i always get teary.

    Miss you judy :)

  • So glamorous! URgh! where has that glamour gone!!!!!! ???

  • In today's music world, there is too much editing. This is her singing as she acted. Not pre-recorded. You can't find that with modern day actors/singers.

  • @snarf807 : What do you mean? They all had to lipsinc this! You don't make musical films with live singing. isn't done, never has been done. You can find it all over Broadway and off-Broadway, though. Live theater where you have to be on your toes. No editing whatsoever. If you eff up, you gotta fix it on your feet! (I'm a stage performer myself).

  • 1:40 hehe of course she's happy NOW.... ;)

  • SHE IS THE WORLDS GREATEST ENTERTAINER!!!!!!!! THUMBS UP IF YOU AGREE!!

  • i love how at the end shes just like "oh hayy how you doin?" ahhahahahahha

  • Took a while to find this at Hastings, and I loved it.

  • judy i'm sorry i was born 41 years too late ,yo uare talented and beautiful and always will be..

  • that idiot! didn't grab her hot little hand

  • I would love to ride a trolley and hear this song.

  • why did she think she was ugly judy is sooooo beautiful

  • she looks like nicole kidman

  • @juicyphilip No; Nicole Kidman looks like Judy.

  • old music is classic and lasts for decades..... music of today is superior in terms of technology that's it.... no class no appeal nothing

  • Talk about nailing a number. The Garland gal has got it.

  • Almost TWO MINUTES before there's a cut to a different camera angle, all with the camera dollying in and out and up and down, all with superb performances even from the extras; they can't do any of this now . . .

  • So, every time I ride the trolley at the Grove/Farmers Market here in Los Angeles, I may or may not start singing this... At the top of my lungs... In public... And get strange looks from the tourists... :D

  • @TheGentlemanCaller88

    Do it for Judy!

  • 9 people missed the trolley.
