  • I never have figured out what the "Yellow Lights Go Down the Mississippi" are!

  • @vickifrance The paddle steamers.

  • Slade in Flame, an excellent, well scripted film. Pity its hardy seen on Brittish Tv. Stuff all that Rockumentary + Reality band crap

  • It was Noddy, then Brian Johnson (ACDC) and then Axl Rose.

Noddy the Banshee was the first and the best of them all to sing in this style.

  • @Mottahead Yes,but there's only one more guy in this list.Dan McCaffertty.at the same time as Noddy.

  • What's the song??

  • @adrianennis Thi song is called "Them kinda monkeys can´t swing" and is at the album "Slade in Flame"

  • @harwing - i watched the movie, but did not see this song despite searching for it.

Was it on the movie? or a different version of it?

  • @decimated550 It's about 24:50 out in the movie. Noddy is throwing a pair of panties to Jim. And it's the second track on the music CD that was in the box I bought.Idon't now what version this is, but te serial number on the cover is USPDD014.

  • @harwing - found it! thanks! must have had a block on searching the early part of the movie

  • still sounds wicked 2 this day. thanx 4 postin.

  • Pub rock just doesn't get any better than this!

A lot of today's audiences, who wile away their weekends in pubs and clubs across the UK subjecting themselves to an endless conveyor of self-contained solo artistes, will never know what a seventies Saturday night was like. Listening to live bands more than made up for our bad dress sense and the awful keg beer that we were forced to drink.

  • It's good to see one of my 'Little Babies' in use; Noddy is playing a Ned Callan Salisbury.

If you like Slade you’ll probably like July (The Legendary Psych-Rock Band from the Sixties) as well.

Find out how to listen & watch the first two new tracks to be released by “July” since their iconic album of 1968 on youtube and facebook and let me know what you think.

Make My Day – Peter Cook (AKA Ned Callan) ‘July’

  • @petercookjuly I have Ned Callan Salisbury 1261. I absolutely love it. Its not original in that it has humbuckers on it (when I bought it in 1977) but it sounds great and the neck has an action to die for (glued in model with twin maple inserts).

    Thanks for making the "Baby".

  • @hotspanna Ta: Great to know some-one still loves one of my little babies - Do you have a photo of it?

I'm on the look out for an early NED SG or Salisbury for myself, so if you ever think of selling it let me know.

    Peter Cook AKA Ned Callan

  • @petercookjuly Hi Peter,

I have seen one or two other Ned SG and Salisbury's for sale over the years but they all seem to be later models with bolt on necks.

My fellow band member in the 70's (HotSpanna) Les, has one of your custom Flying V models (cream with maple fretboard).

I am kind of attached to my Ned since I have had it since the 70's but if I ever decide to sell it, you can have first shout. Having created my own electronics company in the past I know the sentiments.

  • @petercookjuly Not sure how to contact you to send photographs to.... please advise

  • @hotspanna Ta: Send to petercook@mavan.co.uk

  • hey, i'm a 25 year old. This band got me interested in proper music.

Proper music: When someone picks up an instrument and learns to play it

  • @MartinK303 It's great to see this truly great English rock band unencumbered by the trappings of "Glam Rock" in this clip.

  • what guitar does noddy have?

  • Every generation have to pass away, but our not

  • Anyone know what kind of guitar Dave Hill is playing in this clip?

  • I have the same guitar as Noddy in this Clip. It is a Ned Callan Salisbury electric guitar designed by Peter Cook. Excellent British made guitar with a mahogany body and 5 piece neck that has a fabulous action and sounds great. Good to see someone famous using one...

  • Ramones used the slide riff for "Learn To Listen" off of "Brain Drain"

  • @bonneville73 i think they lifted a bit of i wont let it appen again on somthing -the stranglers used to cover one of their big hits cum on feel i think

  • Which song was that? It was awsome!

  • Them Kinda Monkeys Can't Swing.

  • When I drinking they are my favourite :)

  • i remember going to the odeon with my older brother to see this i only just got in it was an A rated film

  • Film didn't live up to the book they cut too much out in the film it lost a lot of sub plots etc.

  • Noddy has a outstanding voice.

  • One handsome bunch of fellows, except for the drummer. Better than Slayer, but not Sade.

  • There's no voice like Noddy's!

  • Noddy sang with some balls, like a real man.

not like all the sissy fruits of today.

  • @psyckonaut tell me one rocker nowadays that sounds like a sissy

  • Ken should have danced...it's Slade playing gdamnit

  • wut song are they playing here and did they ever recored it

  • Them Kinda Monkeys Cant Swing. Its on the soundtrack.

  • love the "glitch" at 1:28

  • didn't catch the name of the song? shit hot! gotta be one of their best.

  • Them kinda monkeys can't swing

  • slade is great. One of my favorite bands.

  • That is one cool bass. What kind is it?

  • Its an old Framus semi acoustic bass. Love Noddys CMI though, not quite the Ned Callan its pretending to be :)
