  • loved this album cant belive the uproar over the song do you want to make love lol

  • Always loved this album, its lush textures and the chill vibe. But the lyrics, particularly in this song, are really poetic... heartfelt and excellent.

  • Level 42 meets Bauhaus meets Japan..

  • I'm not a fag, so perhaps I'm not qualified to speak but that's a good looking dude. Right?

  • lol, at age 52 i am hearing this back , music made (and listened to) when i was half my age....and man, am i enjoying this....cool band and production....mysterious, because relatively unknown...so nice to see all the posts here..... one of those albums u cherished those days, because u knew it was a diamond....

  • Fashion have to be one of the most under rated groups of all time. I love the Fabrique album and De Harris is just about the coolest guy around, the pony tail, sculpted look and soulful voice are just to die for! Mollythemod, is your uncle still this gorgeous and where is he now?

  • Love this track - love this band - love these times of brillant music. Good sound. Merci and thank you so much sharing!

  • Amazing ! Skinit Brum !

  • love this track memories of you carl

  • This takes me back to my 6th form days. Loved this band. So ahead of their time and as everyone says underrated. They lived up to their name too, no one had a pony tail then like Dee Harris and Mulligan was definitely the first white guy with dreads! Pity they never made the big time. Still play the album today! Brilliant.

  • Thanks for this. I have the original album on vinyl. I still love it.

  • I saw these guys at the Hacienda in Manchester in 1984 and they rocked the house

  • Groovy le ZEus B

  • Fashion was definitely one of the best groups of the 80's and Fabrique still remains one of my favorite albums. Why the weren't huge remains a mystery till this day. I still listen to Fashion and will never tire of their music. Twilight Of Idols without Dee was a really good album too. I agree this band was unfairly underrated. Thanks for posting this!

  • I think this is awesome, my parents have the CD. I practically grew up listening to this. I listen to mostly modern electronic music, so this stands out a lot in my iTunes xD

  • Awesome band. I was playing a Fashion CD tonight - I snapped it up when I saw it so I could use instead of Vinyl. Wondered if they were on Youtube and here they are. One of the best bands of the 80's - totally underrated....truly brilliant.

  • FASHION ARE REALLY UNDERATED

  • Fuck Gina X was HOT!

  • @Brynstar - I don't think the girl in this video is Gina. I may be wrong but they usually hire a gorgeous model for videos. The female vocal however IS gina.

  • @jezzyby47

Yeah, you're probably right ... I don't think the real Gina X was that good-looking ... love to know who the model is though.

  • how cool does my uncle De look xxx

  • Is it true there was an alternative version to this video that was a little more steamy?? If so, can someone please post it!!

  • @Brynstar If there was, i've never seen it either, so can someone post it, if it exists?

  • Hey, do you have any idea where I can go online to find more info about the making of the album Fabrique?? Apparently Dik Davis died in the mid-90s, shame, he was an awesome drummer. I have the original cassette with the complete remixes, and the CD, but it only includes some of the remixes (and frustratingly excludes my favourite, the uncut nine minute version of Whitestuff) ...

  • @Brynstar - No idea, but if you have a cassette with the remixes, why don't you just transfer it to CD whilst it's still playable? I have a CD called FASHIøNS which has different mixes on it, but there isn't a 9 minute version of Whitestuff on there, track 9 is called White Line Flyer (3.17) and track 11 is called White Line Flyer (2) (3.19).

  • Well Done

  • jezzy, you're right, I'll transfer the cassette to CD. Never heard of White Line Flyer. On the "Fabrique" cassette the track is called "White Stuff (Short Cut)", just over 3 minutes long, on the remix side it's called "White Stuff (The Unfinished)", a 9-min version. On the CD (called "The Height of Fashion"), there are several extended remixes, but "The Unfinished" is not included. White Line Flyer by Fashion? Is this the same band? What is the rest of the track listing? cheers

  • Sent the full track listing earlier - did you get it? Do you want to swap for the Fabrique cassette with the mixes? Or if you live in the UK, send me the cassette, i will put it onto CD (I have professional sound software) and i will send you the cassette back with the CD version and i will let you have a copy of the Fashions CD i have for letting me borrow your cassette.

  • @Brynstar

White Line Flyer is an absolutely paltry, and bland track which was a B-side from the Twilight Of Idols Album. Nothing like Love Shadow or any of those other cool synth funk-like songs. Though I wonder if there is a longer version of You Only Left Your Picture (Reggae Reprise), that would be cool.

  • @bala4fa

I'm not familiar with the Twilight of Idols album, but I knew it wouldn't be any good after Dee Harriss left. Yeah, a full-length of the reggae reprise would be cool indeed, I always wondered that cos just as it fades it gets really interesting.

  • quality tune from a great band

  • I can not believe this band were not huge, they still sound so fresh and cool!

  • Thank u so much...I could not find this anywhere.I have not seen this video since the early days of video.I ask people about it and they say it never was...but here it is.

  • Genius! Thanks for doing & posting this -- haven't heard this in so long!

  • Video remastered well done!

  • I remember seeing this video and hearing the music for the first time almost 20 years ago. I was enrapt: beautiful, visceral music and a cool looking band and vibe. I discovered Zee a couple of years later. I saw and heard Dave with Limahl on Dont Suppose. Dave [Dee] Harris is a genius. I probably listen to Fabrique and Identity every month or so to this day! Call me crazy but, this music has simply become a part of me.

  • Here, here! =)

  • Thanks, jezzyby47. I was hoping someone would post a higher quality version of this video evenutally. Nice job synching the audio as well.

  • Thanks tomfin2000. Your comments are appreciated. With all these videos where i have added the stereo audio, i have had to time stretch the audio to get them to sync correctly. It can sometimes take a full day to get it right for just one video. Someone, somewhere in the studio where the videos are mastered has got the varispeed on the master stereo track running a little fast. Just enough to stuff my day up anyway.

  • Fashion is extraordinary!

  • hey thanks do you have any video to there song Fashion?

  • No sorry.

  • Got 2 classix concerts live from the early 80s. Didn't think anyone would be into them. I saw them also at Huddersfield Poly back in 82, about a few weeks either before or after i saw Fashion there. They were also very good live but never really had any really good songs and Sal Solo probably freaked most people out, he looked well weird.

  • Hey, thanks for posting this! Reminds me of the long past. Also loved Classix Nouveaux, got just the one album. Same as with this band, just liked this track.
