Socializing healthcare is going the way of communism. The only real solution is cutting out the middlemen (HMO'S) and allowing competative pricing, as a free-market economy demands, DIRECT to the patients to make healthcare affordable. HMO's meddling in the system is what is driving costs so high.
Universal Healthcare is the wrong solution. Lowering the cost of healthcare is what really needs to be done. The cost of Healthcare is rising at 3 times the rate of inflation. How can even the government afford that?
Health care is not going to be lowered as long as it is privatized. Insurance companies will lose money and won't be able to go by the law (which is to make their stock investors money), especially if they have to pay out the claims. Single-payer universal health care IS the answer. The profit aspect HAS to be taken OUT of the picture. Health care is a RIGHT, not a privilege.
